Why do people get so miffed when this rumor/story is brought up? It's a fun piece of Atari lore.
-
What's the joke? Too expensive?
-
Funny how perspective changes your opinion on this one. As a PS2 launch title, yeah, it totally sucked. But as a $5 or less bargain bin find? Worth it.

It boggles my mind that companies like Nintendo don't just release these things themselves. The NES is a long dead console in the US, but many gamers would still love to be able to play NES games. One of the joys of Animal Crossing for many of us was the collecting and playing of old NES classics. The only other modern alternative is to pay 20 bucks a pop for an old title "reissued" for the GameBoy Advance.
I know it'll never happen, but I wish Nintendo's new console would be truly revolutionary and be either backwards compatible for every console they've had or emulate the games for them. Long dead classic games would once again make money, for little or no effort.

Barnstorming: How about being able to do some loops? Maybe to give an option to loop over and around birds instead of just going up or down?
Or add a cropdusting bonus stage?

Hahaha, I know the feeling...but then again, the Xbox version really wasn't that much better...shinier cars, more articulated fingers, a beefed up military copter, and a somewhat better control scheme are all that come to mind...Well I just like to do all my modern gaming on the Box. I keep it hooked up and in prime position on my main TV. I don't like having to move the PS2 out of the bedroom.

Blargh! Damn you all for making me so interested in getting this game! I couldn't wait until the Xbox version came out. I caved! You dirty apes!

I have the ROM of a hack of Air-Sea Battle where you seem to be shooting at whales and what looks like the Starship Enterprise (maybe it's Star Trek IV Battle).
I don't see this one in the AA database. Surely this isn't that rare of a hack? Does AA just not list all of them? Are there too many of them to keep up with?

What is it?

Not to hijack your thread... but you can find these on DVD really cheap at any game store (I've seen them between $2.99-$4.99) and run them in a DVD player, PS2 or Xbox.
Much easier than all the hassle you'll have setting up the laserdisc emulators, and you get cool extras on the discs too.

But I wanna turn my old Atari into a full featured PC!
-
Yep... seems to be gone. :-(

But I don't see what dropping the bombs does, because they don't affect the enemies at all . . .I don't even see any enemies. I can drop something at certain times, can't say if its a bomb or not though. And certain locations make me change color.
AA should run a contest to come up with a whole backstory/explanation for games like this.

Ugh, it's Alien's Return. EDIT feature needed!

I started playing this one last night... and have absolutely no friggin' clue as to what the point of the game is. Anyone?

Well I'm going to make up a list tomorrow, but through work I get a lot of promo stuff... which generally just means that the UPC code on the box has been replaced with the words "NOT FOR SALE OR RENTAL". Doesn't say anything about trading/giving them away though. I've been trading them for other DVDs and such that I want for years now.
Anyway, I have a lot of recent anime soundtracks lying around, and some horror/kung fu movies and all sorts of weird stuff.
-
I have a number of promo CDs and DVDs that I'd like to trade away for some classic Atari stuff to help rebuild my collection. Is that allowed? I know some boards get stingy in these sections... saying you can only promote trades of like items and whatnot.
Any rules on this?

blarrgh no edit feature........
And is there any such similar device for the dreamy Dreamcast?
-
Is Atari Age the only place to get these wonderful devices? I need one, but they don't have any. :-(
-
How much do those 1977 heavy sixers usually go for?
I had three of these once :-(

BTW the tracking number is not really a tracking number, it is a delivery confirmation number, and it only show that the postage was paid and then that the delivery was made, nothing at all in between. That's not true. I often see Delivery Confirmation information showing each location the package is scanned at. It'll show that it was accepted at my post office, then scanned at the local hub, then scanned again at the buyer's local hub, and then again upon delivery.

As an Ebay seller myself, I have run into this problem from time to time. Once you pay for shipping through Stamps.com, it generates that message that the post office has been notified to expect the item for shipment.
Now when I take these items to the post office, they just take them from me. They are not scanned in. And this has come back to burn me several times. Items I've paid for and shipped will seemingly go into this limbo-land. 2-3 weeks go by and that message at USPS.com won't change. It's very frustrating as a seller because you've done everything you are supposed to do, but the buyer still thinks you're trying to rip them off. If it happens several times... bam... bye bye PayPal privledges. :-(

Ok, here's my sad story...
A few years back I was forced to unload my massive 2600 collection on Ebay for far less than what it was worth. However, I'd now like to start rebuilding again.
Those of you who still play on the actual console... which one do you use? Which one seems to hold up the best? I just want to get one working console for my gaming needs. Should I just get another 7800, even though they don't necessarily play all 2600 carts?
Let the arguing begin...

Im probably gettinga 2600 thursday.
