I was hoping some of the 2600 problems I had mentioned back in Nov. 2019 would have been fixed, but I am still experiencing the squished menu on the 2600 core and the game not displaying at the correct resolution or screen ratio (stretched across the screen). Is this ever going to be addressed? Or was it and I missed the memo? Is there a fix for this? I suspect if I hook it up to my old (4:3) tube TV it will probably look normal, but I usually play on my widescreen 32" (16:9) TV. The CV core of the Phoenix displays everything perfectly.
I hope this is being addressed.. I'd like to have a better experience playing the Atari 2600 games...

But this one seems to provide the correct power and current requirements more on spec and unlike the original PSU Colecovision Brick...it doesn't take up half a power strip in the process to use it!
The power and current are less in spec on the ColUSB? Hadn't heard that before...

Wonderful job! Great news! I can't wait to play it!

Just an update.. While I had no luck getting the unit to work with my Sony Bravia TV using a powered hdmi switch, I am happy that I was able to get the system to work using the hdmi in on my Framemeister. I’ll use that until the direct method is fixed with that clock change coming in the future.

While it's waiting for input, the screen is normal. So it's only there for maybe a second or two after I press 1 to start the game before it actually starts. The rom is from the no intro set, so it should be a good copy.
I've seen similar graphical anomalies like that go away after upgrading the firmware of the Atarimax Colecovision multicart...

Are there any discounts if you want most or all of these overlays?

Sure, these are the original files directly posted into the first post of the thread until this recent update... Of course it doesn't have any of the new enhancements made, but it doesn't have the audio issues either.

I hope the new core version isn't based on the one that arrived in many of our Phoenix units which I had significant problems with...
The one that FIXED 90% all my issues (except for my Sony Bravia incompatibility) was the one in the first post a few days ago (before the update).
If this new one is based on the one that shipped that caused an issue in many units that was fixed by the older core, please make sure that's available.
I'm backing my known working one up right now!

Yeah, I updated the bug report just now. Apparently since I used this in a TV input I don't usually use, I still had the default "SRS TruSound" feature turned on, which was attempting to normalize the balance of the sound. Turned it off completely and it fixed the music balance issue.
Now tomorrow I'm going to have my first day of total enjoyment with my Phoenix!
If I run into other issues, I'll certainly report them!

1 hour ago, nick3092 said:Current cores are in the 1st post of the thread. Whether they are newer than what you have is unknown, since there appears to be no versioning based on the file names.
All you can do is check the version you have now, install the new core, and check the version to see if it changed.
Or you could probably do a checksum on your existing core and the new one to see if it's a different file. and if it is, then update and check the version.
So after using the core that was attached on the first post of this thread, every one of my audio bugs went away though I did notice one other.. Certain music in certain games have an issue with volume level.. Like start quiet, then get louder at times during the level. Two games I've noticed this on was Donkey Kong (level 2), and Smurf (the first area).. Music starts quiet, then gets louder and louder, then quiet again. I'll update my github reports now.

I'd like to thank the CollectorVision guys for all of their hard work and dedication to making the Phoenix happen.
I'm going to test a switch I have today to see if that fixes my ability to play it on one of my TV's that get no picture.
As for sound issues working with a new core, I got my unit on November 4. Is there a core newer than the one I'd have?

Nope.
I bought the standard black one...

Perhaps Stellas Stocking
Better yet, have a limited edition label that can be wrapped around the cart adapter itself that looks like red bricks too.

I've now uploaded a bunch of video examples of issues/bugs I've experienced with video and sound and they are now attached to my bug reports.
Hope that helps, happy to make more...
May even try a completely different SD card and routing through an HDMI switcher as well to see what happens...

I agree that should be at a minimum quiet, and preferably a plain black screen. But I'd be happy if at least the noise was suppressed. I was going to bring that up, along with one other minor annoyance.
That would be me.
I'm going to try to post videos of all the Phoenix and game bugs I find to help isolate everything...

I received the two Colecovision USB Plugs, and tested them both.
I spent several hours with each, and both fit well and worked great (*).
I used the exact same 17 watt 3.4 amp USB-C power supply previously mentioned by HDTV1080P, and the exact same 5A USB-C cable as well so I can confirm that the combination has been awesome so far.
It worked with any peripherals I threw at it, but I do not yet have an Adam to test.
Kudos for a great quality product!
(*) I did have a few graphical glitches at first, but its the same glitches I had with the original power supply because when I wiggle the power port at all it occasionally happens. Most likely fixed with some solder, as that happens frequently with Colecovisions. Am I right to check that first? The power switch had previously been cleaned and seems solid.

To order two of these for shipping to the US, its $47... Wow.
-
Can't wait! Still in for the 2 when ready!

Unfortunately CANDLE hasn't been on in 7 months, and hasn't posted on the site in over 18 months so I don't have much hope?
Bummer, I was hoping to pick up a couple of these...
-
Yes, we can do that as well.
Just let me know when we're ready and I'll send you a voucher code for that

Sounds good. I'm in for the 1+1+shipping for sure.
Looking forward to that CE/FCC certification and a photo of the finished product/case! I'm so stoked!
-
I thank you for that, much appreciated...
Great news on the testing, that's wonderful and a testament to the quality and engineering behind it.
Since I planned on ordering two with the cases once they're ready/certified, how about I pick up the price of 1 and the overall shipping cost and if you wish to include a second one as stated I'll be quite pleased. That is very kind of you.
Regards,
-Jason
You aren't, and I'm sorry for not replying (I simply didn't find the time and later forgot about it).
I've started an inquiry but that can take weeks and I haven't heard anything yet.
Thankfully, we had 8 other users who received it and for all of them the adapter was working great and without any issues, so everything has been tested and is working fine.
I guess I'll simply send you another one as compensation for the lack of replies even though a test is not needed anymore.
