Lately I seem to see tons of PC games at garage sales, etc. Many of them are titles that I have never heard of (typically with some rather ornate packaging) from the mid-nineties and onward. Now I have never really got into the PC game scene from a collecting point of view, but is there much of a call for these (and earlier PC games) from game collectors? Will PC games be collectible in the future, or will problems with old game compatability (on new PC's) keep them unpopular? Chris.

what is wrong with the sega genesis
Technosis replied to gamerz's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I think the massive load of EA sports games that came out with an updated release every year hasn't helped the Genesis. I frequently see loads of these priced at one or two dollars in fleas and thrifts and they never move. These games are so unwanted that even the thrift store employees don't bother scamming them before they hit the floor (unlike everything else in this area). I really enjoy the shooters Musha and Phelios, but I think that it might be a bit hard to find Musha these days. Chris. -
I'm a fan of the arcade game Wizard of Wor and play it on MAME. Does anyone know if a complete set of the samples exist anywhere. Some of the phrases end prematurely i.e. "When you developed science, we developed magic." doesn't get completely spoken. If not, I wonder how hard it would be to produce a close clone of these phrases (assuming no one has a Wizard of Wor coin-op to sample the complete phrases from). Chris.

In regards to Donkey Kong Country, I found this game to be visually very impressive, but on viewing it I noticed that there didn't seem to be all that much action on the screen at any one time. I don't know if the SNES's slow processor imposed limits, but they could have had more enemies on screen simultaneously, and varied the enemies a bit more. Strictly from a visual perspective this game was groundbreaking, but I'm not sure about it's long term replay value..........I'd still much prefer Super Mario World as far as side scrollers go, and I'm not a big side scroller fan. 1994? Well I had the regular classic systems like the 2600, Intellivision, ColecoVision (CV). I still had my original CV console and games from the 80's, and I used to seek out CV games at Flea Mkts and Garage Sales. In the spring of that year I picked up a 486DX2-66 computer, my desire to become proficient in AutoCad was the deciding factor to buy. So of course I played a fair bit of Doom on the PC. I had a SNES and Genesis, and used to pick up lots of games used a few months after they had been released and traded in. I did however purchase Mortal Kombat II for the SNES on release and played this one to death. Where I lived in Ontario, Canada this game was a massive release. I remember the British magazine Games Master calling this game the top game of the decade or something to that effect, when there was plenty of future still to come! Despite what others might think I thought this was an excellent time for gaming as Nintendo & Sega had battled neck in neck trying to gain an advantage....which really benefited the consumer. New systems were just around the corner, and on the classic side of things there wasn't a little thing called "eBay", so mostly you were only competing with other classic gamers for the classic goodies. Chris.
