  1. Thanks to this thread I found out about Fire Pro Wrestling Returns for the PS2 and picked it up yesterday (how'd I miss this before ?? LOL) Nice game, I'm surprised how close in game play it is to the earlier version on the GBA, but of course with many more options and improved sound/graphics. Can anyone comment on whether the PS2 version is the definitive console version of this game, or would that title belong to the Dreamcast version.
  2. ditto to what jboypacman listed above I like the 2D fighters, especially Capcom Vs SNK 2 or the Guilty Gear series. Immediate action
  3. That's cool that you are into Defender as it's a great game I notice that you gave Stargate an honorable mention. Myself I prefer Stargate since it's sort of like a deluxe version of Defender, and the game has SO MANY customizable options...In fact it is one of my favorite video games PERIOD.
  4. I don't quite get why Sears was selling this VCS clone though? I mean they already have their own branded Atari VCS in the same catalogue. Were these even sold nationwide? http://www.flickr.com/photos/wishbook/3275...57594229749541/
  5. I'm glad you shared that here....mind you I think I like the "prototype" pic better. It looks like the characters are larger and more prominent, especially the pixelated ghosts. I'm assuming that this version never hit the stores?
  6. Hopefully it ends up being more than just recycled stock footage, and is written by and for people who actually play video games.........
  7. Doubt it. ColecoVision carts just didn't have the same memory capacity as the NES carts, and I believe that the sprite handling routines (i.e. multicolored ones) are more limited in the ColecoVision system. Even if all was equal, it still would have been hard to stop the NES express. I knew lots of people who had big C64 libraries and still put it aside for the NES (but that's a story for another day........)
  8. That's an understatement......back in the day I think I had like 3 games in total on cartridge vs. loads of disk games (i.e. Impossible Mission, etc...) Of course I'm sure there is some options for a PC to C64 interface, but that's a whole topic in itself I'm sure.........
  9. BTW, was the "voice synthesis" in the arcade as scratchy as the MAME version and the PS2 Arcade Classics one?
  10. Found some assorted Genny games at a mid day weekend garage sale......got there just as they were putting everything away...$2 for all (had to take some crappy VHS cartoon videos in the same box too LOL!) Picked up another Ikaruga from a video store "used bin" (this one will be up for trade)
  11. Nice! Was this an online purchase or an in person one? That would have to be one "motivated" seller
  12. Nice score! I picked up a 27" Sony Trinitron KV-27V35 (Manufactured Nov '96) at a thrift this summer for $5....no remote and some wear on the case.......I think yours is a much more recent model. Around here CRT TV's are a dime a dozen with everyone going to LCD. Oh yeah it too is super heavy!
  13. Lately a bunch of gamers in my area have been getting together at a gaming store, and the system of preference above everything else is the N64....(go figure?). The N64 multiplayer games with their simple gameplay seem to appeal to even the casual gamer, and there is like a cult N64 following with some of the die-hards. Anyone else notice some interesting local preferences?
  14. Check out this youtube video for R-Type. I didn't know that this game existed on that platform. I'm really not familiar with the MSX platform, but I heard it has similarities to the ColecoVision system. Minus the memory limitations of a ROM cart, could this game be ported to the CV and look even close to this?
  15. Good question. I'm sure licencing (i.e. Nintendo products like Popeye, Donkey Kong) prevent some games from being in a compilation. Other games are probably just too obscure from a software publisher's point of view. I have the feeling that classic gaming compilations are low on the priority list for some of the software producers. It took us forever to get Taito Legends II here........ I know this has been said a million times before, but just check out the incredible MAME emulator for the rare stuff
  16. I also wouldn't say I'm hardcore but I've actually developed more of an interest in the Genny as time has gone on. There just seems to be more obscure titles and unique games on it than say the SNES. I wouldn't say necessarily higher quality, just very different. Also the games in the wild here are still very cheap, and rare games often show up. I'm putting together a trade list of sorts soon. I already have extras of stuff like MUSHA, Space Invaders '91, Gunstar Heroes, etc. to get rid of. Still the best bang for the buck IMHO
  17. Picked up the following stuff this weekend ($3 ea for the Game Gear games at a store), also the really tough to find CV game Aqua Attack (thanks tmlfan from CGCC!): Check out a bigger pic of this Game Gear cart "Factory Panic" - is anyone familiar with it?
  18. Nice find....however whenever I come across this I invariably ask the seller where are all the games (If I'm really unlucky they say : "We just sold them....")
  19. Thanks Blackjack for the link! This Meka is excellent...do you have any suggestions for audio settings? I'm using an AMD 64x2 1.6GHz processsor, and I get some "pops" and distortion....
  20. Do the majority of home brew Vectrex releases get a .bin image release on the 'net as well, or are there some cartridge only exclusives?
  21. I was wondering which CV emulator in general do you like to use? Which one tends to have the most authentic sound emulation? (and are there any particular audio settings to use?) Thanks!
  22. I've seen the phrase "warehouse finds" used to describe some caches of games. What typically have been some of the so called "warehouse finds" in the past? Are many of these finds in countries outside of the US? Thanks
  23. Wow excellent score! Now just pick up a multicart and you'll be all set
  24. Wow 80 bucks for an N64 At a church sale nonetheless I don't even like paying $20 to get an N64 game with a system purchase. The systems are super common in my area BTW, not to go off topic but if you tell us (or PM me) the name of the N64 game you were after I might have a double of it
  25. I remember one near Niagara Falls NY, I think it was the Summit Park Mall. What was neat is they used to have one game set on free play (right at the front of the arcade) for people to play, of course it was always crowded with gamers so you'd never really get a chance to play it.....nice idea anyhow
