  1. Thanks for the pics! But wow, those re-labeled and poorly spelled ones look like they had been buried in the ground for the last 20 years
  2. On second thought, i think i'll pass on Invasion of the Space Invaders. I just went on amazon.com and found them running between $150 to 800. Thats rediculous! and hardly worth it. I'll take my chances, maybe finding it one day at a yard sale or thrift store, otherwise i won't get it. $800 ?? Screw that man I'll scan it eventually and share it out. It has lots of nice graphics and pictures but it's also good read with some stories and stuff. The guy's an actual writer after all. That being said, I'm still waiting on Technosis to respond if he can share out the scans if he's already got them Well heck. If you get the compete scans, let me know. At least i'll be able to read through it. The raw scans are up at: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=7V0ZEZKK Thanks Margaret (a local bookworm )for providing the original scans and posting these on your acct, I owe ya one if you ever read this......
  3. Check this out: http://www.arcades.plus.com/multigame3.htm A multigame upgrade that runs on Galaxian boards and one of the games is Mr. Do's Nightmare. This is the only way to play this game. No one has ever dumped the rom, which was written for this kit. Thanks for the above, Bill. I've never seen nor played this game. This Galaxian multiboard is cool, if it only had all the Super Galaxian variants on it. Regardless it has some really classic shooters and I noticed that it is offered in a Jamma option....very cool
  4. Yeah definitely a good deal BTW, do Vectrex's have an OK survival rate "in transit"? Being somewhat big and bulky I'd suspect that they are a bit more risky then a console for rough handling, etc....
  5. Picked up a few games this weekend. Got a couple of PSX games: Rugrats and 007 Tommorow Never Dies for $2 each. Picked up a few PC games like Hearts of Iron 1936-1948 (a WWII sim). Also got an original Gameboy, 2 carts, and a charger for mere pocket change. Here's a pic of a recent handheld that I got at a yard sale for $2. (check out the soda stickers !) I also received some excellent Vectrex games from jboypacman. Thanks for a great trade!
  6. I know this has been mentioned before in threads, but I just finished playing a few games of this Cosmic Guerilla type game with Mr. Do! characters. Awesome PC game! http://www.mrdo.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/ Does anyone else have links to similar fan produced hybrid games or sequels?
  7. Yep I've got this book. A nice read for sure! BTW, since we are talking video game books, to me the best book I've found about the arcade and video game scene is Invasion of the Space Invaders by Martin Amis. I have a set of complete scans of the book, but I'm still looking for it in the odd chance that someone has it for sale or trade. But back to the Steve Bloom book, a great read, neat cover (graphics from the obscure coin-op Pleaides )and still not too impossible to find cheap.
  8. For non coin-op games, it would be Mortal Kombat II for the SNES, bought new on release. I think I paid $80.........
  9. Well lately it's been Taito Legends II for the PS2. What an incredible value for $19.99 :!: This one has some REALLY good shoot'em ups on it. I highly recommend it.
  10. I think I'll hold on to this one. If I do sell, it would be something locally or at one of our cgcc.ca swap meets since I'm not sure if these would fare too well being shipped......... The guy had all these old collectibles out beside his house and said to people, "I've got two more buildings in the back". So after stumbling my way through the weeds and hornets, I found it inside amongst lots of other junk. It was probably always assumed to be a TV by anyone who didn't know better. This is one of the finds that you tend to remember because it was so "rustic".
  11. This last weekend I came across this rather sad looking orphan Vectrex (no o/l's, controller). It was out in the back reaches of an old barn at a junk collector's yard sale. Here's the dusty condition that I found it in. After a thorough cleaning, and an extra overlay and controller I was fortunate to have around, a nice perfectly working Vectrex....not bad for a $5 bill So in 2007, it's still completely possible to find a Vectrex in the wild.........
  12. Wow....I've never thought of this cool arrangement before. That would be awesome as an option!
  13. I don't collect edutainment consoles or stuff like TV pong games. I guess you have to draw a line somewhere, I'm more interested in the truly unique stuff or games I'll actually play (or trade off) Christianscott27, that Sega thing is kinda neat if only for its shelf look.
  14. Thanks raregamer, I finished watching the "Vinyl" documentary (it's close to two hours) and it is a VERY good indy style production. It's actually more about collecting in general and the film makers own self assessment of his hobby. It shows some very hardcore collectors and the whole culture.
  15. I've recently come across quite a bit of Gameboy stuff, and I also have various extra GB/GBC/GBA models, much of which I will be trading/selling. If you have any specific wants feel free to PM me.
  16. Yeah I'll second Moon Patrol - great game. I can also think of Laser Gates by Imagic, but I haven't played enough of it to say whether it would hold a lasting interest or not.
  17. On a related note, I have an extra CV Nova Blast for trade if anyone still needs that title
  18. Technosis

    Pooyan!

Yep, on the C64......I even knew a dude who used to load it up on casette tape (ugh looooong load time!)
  19. Wow Atari Pitbull, that's a serious boxed 2600 collection! I've never (crosses fingers) had an Atari unit that didn't work (but several bad AC adapters) How the heck did you get your Ataris snagged?
  20. http://www.journalism.ryerson.ca/online/re.../rsimonetta.htm It's about record collecting but you might find this interesting (BTW...I'd love to get see the Vinyl documentary mentioned there if it is online somewhere)
  21. Omegamatrix, this could just as easily be my story as well. Except last week I went into storage and found a long forgotten bin with five consoles in it(3 light sixes, 1 four switch woody, 1 black "vader"). Same thing, these were all the result of having to buy complete systems to get the games. If they are still around at the next cgcc.ca swap meet in Ontario here, they will be on the "for free" table
  22. In my experience, Fathom is the hardest to find Imagic title for the CV
  23. Around my area Genesis continues to be priced very low in comparison to other system's games such as the TGX-16 and the SNES. Games frequently never go over three or four dollars, unless it is a very rare or well known "rarity". I think I've actually grown to appreciate the Genesis even more as time has gone on. It has some really great shoot'em-ups on it and it certainly seems to be one of the easier systems to collect for. Are Genesis games still dirt cheap in your area?
  24. I have Dragonfire for the 2600, CV, and Inty. I definitely prefer the CV version, it is quite a polished game with especially good graphics and little touches like ripples in the water as it hits the bridge supports. Of course this version also has the archer shooting down from above, but as mentioned before if the sprites were multicolor it would really look awesome. Check this one out via emulation to see whether you want to find this rare game (I got mine by trading with another collector)
  25. Communist Mutants from Space for the 2600 (due to the neat options menu), and the most recent "surprise" was In The Hunt for the Playstation.....for a 1995 port it is quite good!
