WANTED working PAK 020 for STFM
rabindranath72 replied to exxosuk's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
I replaced a 68010 in my Atari STe, it worked with TOS 2.06...mostly. I found a bug which crashes the system on bootup when reading the desktop.inf file. A disassembly of the TOS shows that they check whether there is a 68030 or 68000 on board, but they don't check for a 68010. To distinguish between a 68030 and 68020, a PFLUSHA instruction causes a line-F trap, so it means it's a 68020. Not sure TOS does this type of check, though. -
Hi all, I also posted in the Wanted section, but perhaps here it has more visibility. As the topic says, I am looking for the 5 disks set (latest version including also the STE includes and examples.) I am aware a "free" distribution of the disk set is available on the internet, but disk #2 is corrupted. Thanks in advance! Antonio

Satandisk - Best HD driver to use for this?
rabindranath72 replied to mamejay's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
With the UltraSatan I used the free ICD pro tools. Not sure they would work with Satan, though, but it might be worth a try as it is free. -
From all the reviews I read back in the day, it looked like the Amiga was the "most powerful" on paper (at least, graphics and sound.) I would have wanted one, but it cost way too much. So I asked my dad if I could have an Atari 520ST (I was 16 at the time.) Compared with my previous C128 and VIC-20, it was another planet! But it was a good machine also for doing "serious stuff" (even more when I later bought the mono monitor.) Then, the A1000 only had 256Kb ram, whereas the 520 had double. A friend bought later an A500, and he used to be somewhat envious of the speed and usability of my ST for word processing, programming (I learned to program on the Atari!) and technical design; even without an hard disk, the fact that the OS was in ROM was a huge boon. My friend often complained a lot about having to swap disks on his Amiga even for the most trivial operations. I kept my ST until 3rd year of university (computer science master) then I had to buy a PC because most of the required stuff ran on the PC I have recently acquired an A1200 just to have fun toyin with an Amiga. It is indeed a good system, but without an hard disk (I have installed a CF inside,) I don't think it would be very usable, apart from games.

Hi all, I know the chances are next to zero, but you never know. I am looking for the 5 disk set of the Atari TOS Development Kit; the latest version which also includes STE files and includes. I know there is a version "freely" available online, but it turns out disk #2 of that distribution is corrupted. Thanks, Antonio
