  1. Hi everyone, Steve here from RPC-Games! Pete's home with a chest infection and probably out for the rest of the week so I don't think he'll mind if I comment. I too worked on Centron 3D. You guys know that displaying extra colours on an Atari 8-Bit screen using a CRT will flicker. Shading the colours does take the edge off but their is still flicker. At the beginning when Pete just started developing cmode72 with the old CRT Commodore 64 monitor their was flicker, then the monitor shit itself and we only had LCD TV's to work with, this is why we are letting people know about Centron 3D and CRT tubes. We've made it clear on the website and even in the game about the crt screens and the bloody flicker it does. If you only have a crt then use an emulator with page blending or whatever it's blood called. Pete and I have worked long hours on Centron 3D and at our first meeting I said not to do it but he said he wants to please Atari users with a new game. If I knew he was getting this much shit from you guys I would of cancelled Centron 3D and kept on working on the RetroPC1010 project, that's far more important than this. I believe that this project was the biggest waste of my time and expertise. Steve.
  2. Hmm, from the JAG Technical Reference Manual it states that the DSP has these modes. The wave table ROM contains eight 128 entry wave tables. TRI - A triangle wave SINE - A full wave SINE AMSINE - An amplitude modulated SINE wave SINE12W - A sine wave and its second order harmonic CHIRP16 - A chirp - this is a sine wave increasing in frequency NTRI - A triangle wave with noise superimposed DELTA - A spike NOISE - White noise Surly you can make some great synthesized sounds using these. Your could easily just use 16bit sound samples instead. No need to do any Synth calculations just playback a sound sample. Pete
  3. @Synthpopalooza: What a great effort you are doing. Attached is the CMODE72's colour palette. Would this help you ? Pete
  4. RPC-Games Australia was formed at the beginning of 2014. We, 4 employees including myself has always wanted to write games for our Loved Atari's but have had no time to do so due to family due's. We including myself are 6502, 68000, RISC, and TI (Texas Instruments) microcontroller programmers not to mention, musicians, graphic artists and myself an electronics design engineer. Our first meeting was about writing new games for the Commodore 64, Atari 8-bits, Jaguars, Falcons, Apples and Amiga's and I decided that our first game on the 8-bits would be on the Atari 8-Bit called Centron 3D, and this is what we have been working on for the past 3 week. It usually take a few months to create a great game and we have done it in 3 weeks. I'm so proud of my team. We are also involved in the new RetroPC1010 project wwww.retropc.com.au and have been working on that project since we formed. Jump on the website and check out the specs of the RetroPC1010 Personal Computer Gaming System. That's about it. If you want to now anything else, let me know. Pete Manager RPC-Games! Australia www.rpcgames.com.au
  5. We haven't announced anything? What I said was for our next project we may be creating a game for the Atari Falcon or Atari Jaguar. I'm in the middle of checking out the Jags hardware capabilities and then the Falcon's hardware, so if you guys are going to give me crap then you have already made up my mind. There are thousands of Amiga users out their who will appreciate new games for their Amiga 500's and 1200 AGA machines. And Centron 3D for the Atari 8-Bit is in the testing stage now and should be released on time as we have shown on our website. If you don't want new titles for the Atari Jaguar then let me know and we will go Commodore Amiga instead. Pete Manager RPC-GAMES! Australia www.rpcgames.com.au
  6. Thanks Guys, but to make it clear we are looking into the Atari Jaguars hardware and game developing software at the moment. Once we check it all out we will then have a meeting here at RPC Games to vote to create new games for the Atari Jaguar or not. But I've been reading the Jag technical manual and Love the 68000 + GPU + the DSP, 16bit and 24bit colour. What I didn't understand is that the manual says 14bit digital samples and not 16bit. Don't like that at all. Do we have to use 8 bit samples for .mod music. If so then this decreases the sound quality of the game. 8 bit samples are poor in quality but everything else in the system seems to be absolutely fantastic. We will keep studying the manual and checking out some games on the EMU. We will need real hardware too. Does anyone have a Jag + CD expansion for sale? PAL + 240volt. Thanks guys Pete Manager RPC-Games!
  7. @NeoGeoNinja: Ar you talking about Centron 3D? No Video's yet. we are working on the last of the 6502 coding and then a video on YouTube. Hopefully before the 7th which is the official release date. @ Everyone: Do you all have CD expansions with your Jag's or Some have, some only use Carts? Pete
  8. Thanks very much guys. Will check out the links. Oh, do many people own Atari Jaguar consoles or do they all run emu's now ? Pete
  9. Hi Guys, We are creating a game called Centron 3D for the Atari 8-bit and should be completed next week. See here for full info on Centron 3D. Over 64 colours on screen at once, yes on an 8-bit . www.rpcgames.com.au For our next project we are considering to program a new game for either the Atari Falcon or the Atari Jaguar. We have done 68000 assembler programming back in the 90's on Amiga computers and Atari STe computers so we have knowledge of 68000 assembly. Can someone point me in the right direction of utilities needed for creating a game on the Atari Jaguar. I'm going to need an Assembler, Jaguar memory maps, GPU register locations & maps and an emulator as we don't have the hardware. I can't even find a Jaguar on eBay so an emulator is our only choice. So any info to getting up and running would be very appreciative. Thanks guys Pete Manager RPC-Games Australia www.rpcgames.com.au
  10. @ miker: Not bad but you do lose a lot of colour and your right about the palette. Half of the greens are grey. Does TIP-ANIMATOR convert jpg to Atari? I've never used TIP format before. How many colours can TIP create on one scan line? Is it 16 colours? or more or less? I've put all CMODE72's colours on screen in a screen shot. Check it out here and click on the Centron 3D folder (Top left ) www.rpcgames.com.au Pete
  11. @Prowizard: Thanks for the typo spotting on my website. My Atari 1040STe with SH205 megafile is very close to the 130XE in my office and I must of been looking at it when I typed 1040 floppy disk drive instead of typing 1050 disk drive, but I've corrected it now. Thanks again Pete
  12. @ Synthpopalooza: hehehe I actually said "Maybe" But, it would be a good project to do. I'm thinking about it but no promises Pete
  13. @Flashjazzcat: Can't do a video right now because one of the routines I have to look into is the sprite move routine. There's a little glitch that needs to be addressed. I'm sure everyone can wait just a little longer Pete
  14. @Mclaininc: Load of rubbish? What the? Thanks mate for your support. Do you think we would be doing all this for a joke? NOT ! @ Everyone: the reason all sprites on screen (except the back drops) are the same is because I just pasted the sprites on the first frame and captured it with the different level backdrops just to show the graphics side of things. It's to show you what our Atari's can do with CMODE72. No more limited to just 4 colours on a scan line. Maybe, next I'll do a CMODE256. Gameplay: You don't shoot anything in the game, you fly into the coloured sphere's and hit them with your De-reser which is mounted on the bonnet of your converted delorean. Different coloured sphere's = different score. Press the Fire button to jump over mines (kind of like moon patrol). So if you jump over a mine and there's another mine after that one then YOUR TOAST ! I've only allowed 1 jump per step. Alien ships will fly above you from time to time and drop bombs to destroy your delorean. Here's a tip, get out of the way or your dead You have 3 lives (as usual) 0 lives = Game Over. Avoid the mines (shown) and alien attacks (not shown) and get to level 23 the last level and then it's party time. Centron 3D is playable at the moment and I really can't stop playing it. I have to force myself and my employees to stop playing it and get back to work We should have a video on YouTube this week to see and hear the Sound FX. I just Love the Pokey timers for sound FX. At the moment, there's a few things that need to be changed and a few routines that need to be looked at before I create the video but that should take me less than a week to do. We've put a lot of work into Centron 3D. Working late nights to get it done. Don't forget, it takes months to create a good game from start to finish and we have accomplished all this in just 3 weeks, so I hope you all appreciate it. And we are not accepting preorders or any orders at this time. Orders will commence after the official release date, 7th July 2014. Thanks Guys Quick, play the jingle..... "Have you played Atari today !" hehehe I just had too Pete Manager RPC-Games!
  15. Hi Guys, I have completed the Centron 3D web page. You will now see all info and all 23 levels screen shots using our CMODE72 graphics mode. Please check it out and let me know your comments. Oh, the official Centron 3D launch date is now the 7th July 2014. It was the 1st July but one of my employees has taken 1 week of holidays. Typical ! hehehehe Website is www.rpcgames.com.au Thanks guys. ( Hope you like it ) Pete Manager RPC-Games!
  16. @Snicklin: Certainly did. Both fantastic movies and after that watched Final Fantasy. The graphics and anim is absolutely smooth. Love it. Thanks mate @ Synthpopalooza: What is ICE Graphics Mode 1? Pete
  17. It's Sunday today, so it's Tron and Tron 2 day today on DVD & Bluray. A couple of Jim Beams and then Monday and it's back to work on Centron 3D. It's good to be the Boss Pete
  18. HAHAHAHAHA noooooooooooo , I'm no GOD ! just a 6502 programmer since 1986. @THOM: How much can a Koala Bear? For someone who's not interested in what I'm doing you seem pretty interested to me. http://youtu.be/hTJ3DIMGAQo http://youtu.be/ELSv3s2pU0s @ Shawn: hahahahaha yes, correct ! @Synpopalooza: Years ago I tried to get more colour by changing the BAK colour only as fast as the Atari 800XL could do and found that the hardware was just not fast enough to do it. If it was fast enough then we could have got 160x192 by 128 colours but sorry, the hardware just wasn't fast enough. Unless someone else has done it. Pete
  19. hehehehe Who ever you bribed to get this info was 100% WRONG !%2
  20. hehehehe Who ever you bribed to get this info was 100% WRONG !!!! hehehehe I hope you didn't pay them any money No, that is not how Centron 3D is being made. I'm writing all the 6502 code myself. I even had to write a paint and anim package for our new CMODE72 graphics mode. Create a new mode and you have to write editors to use it. One of the down sides I guess, but it was fun doing it. PAINT72 only took me a week to write. The Arcade Machine program does look like a powerful game design package. I never even knew it even existed. Nice job Boarderbund Software from 1982 Pete Manager RPC-Games!
  21. @McLaininc: Here's a suggestion. Why not play Space Harrier on a LCD TV. No flicker with LCD TV's. Problem solved Pete
  22. What do I say about that. You guys ROCK !! oops, my punctuation Sorry about that, that's just how I talk Why haven't I explained how CMODE72 works? Hmmm, Do I have to? Would KFC tell everyone their secret herbs and spices? KFC = Kentucky Fried Chicken for those of you that didn't know. You guys are smart enough, work it out for your selves or create your own colour graphics mode instead and stop winging about mine. @ Everyone with a positive attitude to Centron 3D. Here's a big THANK YOU for being patient. You can't rush a good game, specially with Centron 3D. It's highly graphics intensive and this does take A LOT of time to do. Specially with 72 colours on screen at once. The more colour the more time to spend drawing, shading and animating. So thank you guys for your patience and support. Now have a game of Pacman while you wait Pete Manager RPC-Games!
  23. @Jose: No GTIA GR.9 mode. Using our CMODE72. Pete
  24. CENTRON 3D LEVEL 1 BACKDROP. - No more pics until the game is done now. Sorry guys. Thanks guys for the positive attitude, really appreciate it. I accept you can't please everybody but that's their loss, really. Oh, and I had nothing to do with the World Cup hehehehe. @ Sniklin: Your right their, I've been working late nights to get Centron 3D done. It should be done before 2 weeks , I'm hoping Now, back to programming. Hmmm. How do you print text on the screen again? Ummmm. Oh that's right ! 10 PRINT "HELLO WORLD" : GOTO 10 : REM SYS64738 run it, run it, run it !!!!!! This game is gonna rock ! Pete Manager RPC-Games!
  25. @PROWIZARD: HAHAHAHAHA You crack me up !!!! Wouldn't that be something hehehehe @CreatureXL: Did I say "Best game ever on Atari 8-bit? Where did I say that. I must of had too many Jim Beams at the time if I did. I've never seen a game like Centron 3D with over 72 individual colours on a scan line before. If their is a game like that please let me know, and I'm not talking about a DEMO either. NRV's Wolf engine is truly magic and powerful. Pete
