    Here are the numbers, in exact order as printed;

    C101688-002

    ATARI 1987

    RP2A10

    38 BL2 46

    This system looks like it was never used, the board is perfect and the housing looks new. I couldn't even find a scratch! Works great. I was going to keep for myself, but wonder what it would be worth if I listed it since it is a rarity? Maybe I could be the next "Tanner?" LOL.

    I found this post while trying to figure out these numbers. I own 2, all the numbers are exactly the same except for the last. I have:

    38 BL2 48

    38 BL2 49

    The Rev 3 board LittleJoe owns has a different chip. It's hard to read but looks like

    C101688-001

    ATARI 1987

    RP2A10

    38 7CE 53

    That 38 could be a 24. The E in 7CE could be a 1 or an L or I maybe. The 3 in 53 is also blurry.

  2. Lowest serial number I've seen (on ebay) of an Ireland model (short rainbow)

    Also, I don't understand why the first 2 digits are the week number, because they are never in order... Ordered by serial numbers:

    Here you go. Be aware that the board that is inside my jr. is a replacement board. I checked the board that was originally in this jr. and it had multiple chips on it.

    Thank you for the speedy reply!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I was not expecting it to look so much like "81." I'm half convinced it's still a smudged "91" -- the 8s I've see had a larger circle on the bottom than the top. This has a smaller, squatter bottom, so that says "9" to me. But a 9 doesn't have an indent on the right side, so that says "8" to me, unless there was a very specific dead spot on the inkpad. Or the person stamping it sneezed violently? Could happen ;)

    Serial # A1811979907

    @The Mr. Video

    Could you do me a huge favor and double-check that number for me?

    A1 81 1979907 is a very interesting number: "A1 81" means January 1988, but "1979907" puts in in the range Dec 1989 to March 1999!

    Also, there is a chance this could be a super rare 1-chip! If you post a good photo of the entire bottom of the Atari I can check.

    You can ask the moderators to allow you to update the original post forever if need be.
    also make sure you are reading B vs 8 and 3 vs 5 correctly.

    I ran into a lot of ink smears and blurry faded numbers in the 1200XL list I maintain.   And don’t expect the serials to be sequential but the can be an indicator of another error.

    the 7800 serials get really wonky in the latter years.

    I managed to find one moderator and asked, no reply. No idea how to find others, and search doesn't help.

    I would suggest folks crack open the questionable units to really validate they are 1chip.  I wouldn't trust the case cutouts for the POT as identification.  On the 1chip version, is the POT hole (hah pothole) still there, and just the POT missing?  It looks like just the POT is MIA, so that might be the best indicator w/o opening up units.

    Since you have two 9B units so close in serial... open them :)

    I'm IDing them by the RF shield and circuit board visible through the vents. I don't own the low 9B units but both are confirmed 1 chip.

    I spotted a new, even lower numbered unit! And it's also 9B, before 98...?!?! Maybe someone used the wrong stamp in August for a while and didn't notice because it's similar to 98? Or maybe I misunderstand the meaning?

    Found a new one on reddit! This expands the serial number range a few thousand, but it also throws in a wrench. 9B should mean it was made in 1989 in Nov, yet the serial number comes before 98 which is August. Did they use the wrong stamp? Reordered serial numbers?
