Hello, Atarians!

Do you think Superman III should've been released, or do you think the game wasn't good enough and was rightfully held back? In my personal opinion, I think Superman III is awesome. It's basically a Missile Command on steroids(and I really enjoy Missile Command). But I want to hear your thoughts on the matter.

Hmm, I have both the Jag and 3DO. I enjoy the Jaguar waaay more than the 3DO.

So far, I think Joust on the 5200 is the best port. This being said, I haven't played the Lynx version yet, so I wouldn't know.

Yeah... kind of a joke. Only 67 Games, and saying the Jaguar has less than 1,000 games is still correct.

Indeed

Brand new to this forum, but just bought one of these yesterday. The back of the box clearly shows Battlezone as one of the included games. But, it is nowhere to be found in the in-game selection menu. Do these Flashback units ever have "hidden" or "unlockable" games???
Hmm, that would make sense, but I am not sure. I don't know if anyone here knows/remembers that the Atari FB2 and 2+ had a few unlockables, you typed in "1972" on your joystick(Up:1 Down: 9 Up: 7 Down: 2). The FB2 came with 2 paddle games, and the FB2+ had 3 of the same type...
That would be cool if they did the same on the FB6, but I doubt it, because they never did it on the FB3-FB5.

Man, sucks that they didn't make that many 7800 games, I really do think it's an underrated system.

I really like my 5200 and 8-bit both, for different reasons. You're right that the difference between games on the two usually will be the controllers (some 5200 games are updated versions of the 8-bit original, however).
My example involves an uncommon controller: the Battlestation II arcade stick. If you hook up one of these to your 8-bit, Robotron is amazing. I know that the 5200 has the coupler for the stock controller, and it's good, but it doesn't compare to this setup. If you can get the 8-bit conversion of 5200 Space Dungeon, you have another awesome experience.
Whoa, that thing looks awesome! Thanks for sharing

Hello, fellow Atarians. I am not sure if anyone has done a topic on this yet, but if so, my apologies. Anyway, when I got an Atari 800, I noticed how the 5200 games are almost exact to some of the Atari 8-bit computer games. For example: Pacman, Jungle Hunt, Star Raiders, Rescue on Fractalus, etc. I am curious on which version of those games are better in your opinion
.For me, I think Missile Command is the best on the Atari 5200, those joysticks, as horrible as they are, work perfectly on Missile Command. Of course, it's always good to use an Atari 2600 joystick or something similar on the Atari 8-bit computer, but I enjoy it more with the 5200 joysticks.
This being said, games like Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, Mario Bros, etc. don't do it for me. Those joysticks are awful for those games. But playing on the Atari 8-bit seems to fix all of those issues on that matter(Keep in mind, you can use a Sega Genesis controller on the 8-bit computers
). I would like to hear your opinions, please share!

I actually heard that there was less than 300 games for the Jaguar.
Weren't there only 67 games?

Don't forget the cost of toner and DVD cases. Apparently that makes it all AAAAAYYEEE-OOOO-KAY.
there's probably less than 250 genuine Jaguar fans left on Earth... and probably another 250 'collectards' - small pond to piss in, really.
Yeah, I remember when I got my Jag for Christmas, I still have it to this day. I would label myself as a Jag fan, but of course, I am also an XE fan, 2600 fan, etc.

I know I may be late for the party, but amazing job, bro. Keep it up.

Interesting discussion... Yes, I have a Jaguar for collector's purposes, but I will say that I play many games on the Jag, specifically Doom, Iron Soldier, and Zool 2. But of course, that's just me.

Not a huge week.
VCS:
GORF: 18 minutes
Worm War I: 30 minutes
Vanguard: 40 minutes
Dolphin: 25 minutes
TI-99/4A:
Miner2049er: 15 minutes
Parsec: 20 minutes
Trek (by Adamantyr): 15 minutes
Gravity Run: 10 minutes
Never-Lander: 20 minutes
Total of 193 minutes of play time...
Most of my time this week has been focused on building my new gaming/computer desk.

Good idea, I may have to do that, too.

I always go for Standard, because I don't see the point in having an extra 'toy' with the game or an extra game mode, etc.
-
Good times, I still have one

To be honest. I think AtGames has made enough Atari 2600-Flashback systems. If anything, I think they should make a Flashback portable. That would be sick.

Hmm, well I got Cruise Missile for the Atari 2600 today. Not bad, but I need to buy another 2600 controller, mine broke.
-
I'm really surprised that they wouldn't just go with the generic name that they used for distribution in Sears locations.

As for Battlezone, while I feel like it's a logical deduction to make that it's not going to be here, it's such a great port that I think AtGames would be wise to license it from Rebellion Interactive. I don't Rebellion would be against letting the fondly remembered 2600 port be released again, although the price they'd want might be more than would be justifiable.
Just too bad that their emulator doesn't run it perfectly. It has been a while, but when two tanks are present, one regularly wouldn't be shown on the FB3 and FB4. And that was far from the only issue, although the others like the game crashing from time to time were more of a random occurrence.
If they could get the arcade version of Battlezone, that would be sick. 2600 Battlezone is good, but nothing beats the original arcade.

Personally I collect these for the sake of collecting them.
I don't play them very often, but I'm a hardcore Atari fan, what can I say?

Good news to you all. Toys R Us are now, once again selling a new Atari Flashback console. There isn't much info about it right now, here's the link.
I hope you're as excited as me, I am pumped. I have all the Atari, Coleco, and Intellivision Flashbacks looks like it's time or another one in the collection.
