  1. (sorry, forgot about the missing edit ) or Qubicle
  2. While it wasn't an arcade game, perhaps the Ultima series or The City or The Dungoen would be good on the 7800. Perhaps The Eidolon. I would mention an arcade RPG, but they weren't many of those in the early 80's... When speaking of polygons though, while it remains to be seen what kind of full polygon graphics the 7800 can do (I need to find that thread that had a little demo of some 3D graphics on MARIA that ran around 20 fps), I bet that it could do some vector games pretty well. How about a Space Duel, Black Widow, Star Castle, Warrior, or Rip-Off conversions? Or perhaps a combo of both worlds and make a new original RPG (which would be best, I agree that some original titles are always a good thing) that uses vector graphics? How about it? *waves hand in the air
  3. *waves hand around again "and give me a free copy afterwards"
  4. Holy crap that looks awesome! That's one I'll have to add to my arcade. And the price tag is pretty good considering how much other games are going for these days. It does look good, but that price of $2695.00 appears to be just for a kit, so you'd still need a nice cabinet to put it in. Seems kind of steep for that, although I'm sure it'd be a fun game to have. ..Al It's good in comparison to games like DDR and F-Zero FX which are going for $7000 and $7500 USED, respectively. And much better than Ghost Squad which is an insane $14,500. Could be the distributors I've been looking are jacking up the prices, but that's how much they are asking. Then one knows why arcades have been suffering, because new games cost way too much. Of course, if the Raiden 3 kit was even cheaper, I'd be a happy camper. All the Taito -X board is is a PC designed for the arcade. I could build one with the same specs for a fraction of the cost, except for anything proprietary they've thrown in there. And then the game of course
  5. *waves hand in the air "You will code Spy Hunter for the 7800"
  6. Holy crap that looks awesome! That's one I'll have to add to my arcade. And the price tag is pretty good considering how much other games are going for these days. Anyways, congrats on the Jag purchase. It's a great system and there are many games in the pipeline that also make the purchase worth it. Mad Bodies, Gorf, Eerievale, Mighty Frog, Star Alliance, JagWorm, Reversi...I hope the list keeps getting bigger.
  7. This is great news, it's cool to see that even more arcade classics will be showing up on the 7800. Of course there are a few titles that have been submitted for the homebrew contest that will add to that as well. 2005 is turning out to be a great year for Atari.
  8. Just as an update, a good AA member here will also be donating a DVD of Once Upon Atari as a prize for the contest. I'd also like to thank those so far who have submitted an entry. That doesn't mean that there isn't room for plenty more entries! Keep them coming, you still have a couple of months!
  9. Keep up the great work on all of your projects StarCat. I'm sure that they will all turn out to be great additions to our libraries.
  10. So many egos? Have any names? This whole AA vs. JS2 thing is ridiculous. Why don't you T-Bird haters just plainly say that you don't like JS2 because you don't like T-Bird and that's where he posts? Is it really that hard to say/admit?
  11. That reminds me of Tunnel Runner. That is one game which is underrated for the most part but it looks awesome. I find it amazing at how fast that game zips along in later levels. I've not played Escape From the Mindmaster though, so I'm not sure how it compares to TR.
  12. It's interesting to see the different reaction this time around. Of course, that is a good thing. From all that has been said, I am quite excited about the Flashback 2.0. It will certainly have a place in my collection The price listed on Gamestop is also better for launch than the FB1. Nothing but good things on the FB2 so far.
  13. Nicely said Shaggy! Hey, I'm in it for the MONEY though! Show me the MONEY! Show me the MONEY! Show me the MONEY! Well aren't you making TONS of money by selling off those special packs and from tickets sold to tour your museum?
  14. Face it guys, if we're into any Atari system then we are collectors. So maybe you have a collector here and there that doesn't play his games everyday or maybe almost never, SO WHAT? If you paid for it, then it's yours. Should I cry because I can't easily get a hold of every rarity 10 game for the 2600? No. I missed out on BSG, but will life go on? Yes. Even if 10,000,000 copies of BS were made tomorrow, does that mean that everyone in the game market will just gobble them up and experience a good game? Of course not, the only people that give a crap about the Jaguar are fanatics like us. Fanatical rabid collectors, a group I'm proud to be a part of. Sure we'll get some new members every now and then but will we every number in the thousands or millions (as Jaguar fans)? No so we shouldn't expect there to be that many copies of any Jag game around, especially homebrews.
  15. Perhaps Space Dungeon? I know it has 99 levels...so what happens after level 99?
  16. Let's not forget Krull. I thought it had impressive and smooth graphics as well. I'd agree with BattleZone having awesome graphics, and even E.T. but I'd say Solaris takes the cake. If you haven't seen Solaris yet...it's worth it. I also think Pitfall 2 looked sweet. Activision really knew how to push the envelope on the 2600.
  17. Maybe they are getting a killer deal when buying them in bulk? Doubtful but you can already tell that they are not going to make much if anything of the hardware on this. I guess that's one benefit of it coming from one of the biggest companies out there is that they can lose money on the system but they still have gobs of money to throw around. I'd like to know if it's backwards compatible or not. They have been silent on that part...
  18. Thanks for making this available. I'm #19 You're in Provo? I'm in West Valley. Guess shipping will be low then
  19. I agree. While many people and games from the early days of video games may not be famous on the level of Halo/Halo 2, Halo would not exist if it weren't for them. Had Halo been released 7-8 years ago I doubt it'd be as big as it is now, it'd probably be like Goldeneye was, popular at the time, all but forgotten now. The market has grown a lot in the past few years and that has helped Halo. Doesn't make it one of the most influential games of all time just yet. Let's look at games that have helped influence Halo/Halo 2: Being a FPS: Wolf 3D, Doom, Quake and if you go bakc far enough, Berzerk Vehicles: Shadow Warrior (ok, not to the same extent as Halo but they were there) Battling against aliens: pick and choose your sci-fi story that involves that Ringworlds: can't remember the names, but from some sci-fi novels. I also recall the game (I think it was the Daedulus Encounter) had a ringworld in it Choosing different characters: Alien Vs. Predator (Jaguar) Dual Wielding: Rise of The Triads Multiplayer deathmatch: Doom, could go as far back as Warlords. I'm probably missing some games, but the overall point is that Halo isn't exactly original and it takes elements from many other titles that came before it. Now I enjoy it as much as the next guy, it is a great game, it's execution is well done, the story and the way it tells it was one of it's best features. Still, there are many other games that should be recognized before Halo is.
  20. No edit Never mind, I didn't catch the game category there before posting. Even still Halo isn't the best game ever made.
  21. Shouldn't it be the Master Chief instead of Halo? If they are doing characters then Halo isn't one, and if it was the ringworld that was nominated, well that concept existed long before the game did. Either way, at least two real people that have made a true difference in video games are on there. Individuals like Eugene Jarvis and HSW should go up there as well.
  22. Eu ainda dou uma olhada aqui de vez em quando para ver se tem alguém novo. Uma pergunta pra vcs, tem alguns sites de Brasileiros falando sobre o Atari? Não conheço muitos. adam
  23. This is somewhat on topic, I figure you maybe interested in this since it's around the same subject. from BJ West who worked at Atari on BI/WN and at the time that the lawsuit went through: (quote taken from JS2)
  24. Threshold (it's cool how the enemies change with every new wave) Krull Sky Diver (with 2 players) Warlords Artillery Duel (w/ 2 players) Turmoil Vanguard Front Line Tunnel Runner Asteroids Steeplechase Marble Craze Just to name a few.
