  1. Unfortunately all of the screens posted so far show that the SMS beats out the 7800, at least from a static point of view. Of course in action it could be different with things like flicker. But the graphics look more detailed from all of these screens. But I still believe that once the 7800 will one day have some games that shows off it's real potential.
  2. True, Star Castle would be cool and I bet with the 7800's higher resolution it could turn out nicely. BTW someone is making an update of Star Castle on the Dreamcast called DCastle. I can't remember the URL to the site, but if I do I'll post it here. It looks cool.
  3. Here's another one I forgot about until today when I decided to play my 5200 for a while: Space Dungeon. That game would rock on the 7800, especially where it can handle more sprites on the screen than the 5200.
  4. I'd second that. You might want to through Zero 5 in there as well, it can be quite a challenge. For the PC I'd say Cybercon 3. Most people have never heard of this title, it's an early 3D first-person game but that game really was hard and unforgiving. Especially if you played it on anything above a 286.
  5. IMHO, Gamefan was the best mag out there, for it's time. These days, I like GI, they manage to have a sense of humor about things, and their reviews are decent, although they carry along the same trend where you know certain titles will never have anything bad said about them, but that's the nature of the beast.
  6. "Cancelled due to technical difficulties" Good stuff Curt!
  7. Hey that's not a bad idea actually. Haven't tried it though. I also haven't tried to see what would happen if I tried to use Prolines in my 5200 double-controller holder.
  8. I have often wondered how vector games would turn out on the 7800. We know it can do 3D, so I imagine that plain vectors may run nicely (nicer than what you can get on the 5200/800). In that case I'd also love to see Tempest, Major Havoc, BattleZone, Star Castle and Black Widow.
  9. While it's debateable how well it could be translated to the 7800, Marble Madness would have been awesome.
  10. If it was to go onto any other system I'd vote for NUON myself. Either way I'm really looking forward to discovering Eerievale and it's storyline on the Jag CD. I don't doubt this game will interest some of my non-Jag-loving friends. It will also be nice to have another game on the Jag other than AvP that has a real storyline behind it.
  11. Well, this issue is almost 200 pages long and will cover lots of stuff about BI/WN and the internal workings of Atari that come straight from former Atari employees, so I think we'll be getting our money's worth out of this.
  12. Fortunately a couple of individuals have submitted a title. But it would be great to have more. The more the merrier.
  13. I wouldn't be surprised to see it released early. I mean look at Halo 2, it was really released early (thus the crappy "ending" and Halo 2.5). I don't think they have studied their video game history books all that well, but history doesn't always mean things are always going to happen in a certain way (even though it's a nice indicator). While I am looking more forward to the X2 than the PS3 (I also agree that it needs a different name than Xbox 2) I hope they don't screw it up just because there are so giddy to say they were first.
  14. Just so everyone knows, you can submit simple hacks for the contest. I should have made it clear that this contest is for first time attempts at games on the 7800. Feel free to submit hacks or simple games. I'm saying this as no one has contacted me yet. Don't be shy, I'll accept any kind of game for the contest. Be creative. It can be a small program, a hack, a first try, a full game, whatever.
  15. Just to chime in really quick, the reason JS2 requires you to post as well is not only to help promote activity but because Jaysmith has to pay for the service he's providing. He is wasting money on allowing accounts that never post to take up space for those who participate. We debated about this over at JS2 for sometime and it was generally agreed to go in the direction it did because it was costing Jay. If it didn't cost him anything then I don't think it would be "locked" like it is. Gunstar is right. JS2 is the most active Jaguar forum out there. AtariAge is the most active everything-else Atari forum I know of. I like both and try and participate in both. There will always be a divide in the community due to some friction between some developers in the community. It is unfortunate but it's there. It's just something we have to live with I suppose. At least it doesn't flare up too often.
  16. Argh, I forgot to preview the post. Please PM me is what I meant to say.
  17. If you are working on a project for the 7800 Homebrewerpalooza contest, please PM. I would like to get an up-to-date list of everyone who is working on a project. Also remember you still have a few more months until it is over., so if you haven't started yet, now would be a good time to. I have been looking into offering more for the prize as well, but I'll update my page on the contest if that is the case. Thank you!
  18. Thanks for bringing more goodness to the Jaguar JustClaws.
  19. I actually used superglue on a couple of labels (I didn't have anything else at the time). It worked quite well and I haven't had a problem with the labels since.
  20. I'm excited to see this competition. Thanks for making it available Duranik.
  21. BattleZone would have been great, but it was butchered into Hover Strike. I would loved to have seen a Major Havoc update for the Jag, he would have made a good 'mascot' type guy for the system. I agree that BallBlazer and The Eidolon would make great updates as well. Beyond those already mentioned I think that Space Dungeon would make a perfect Jag game.
  22. It's interesting that Warner is interested in video games again. It would be more interesting if they bought Atari back and it'd be just like old times, right? I disagree with part of that article there. I thought that The Chronicles of Riddick wasn't as great as he says it is. I don't see why it's so critically acclaimed. It is so much like a movie that it has little replay value, no multiplayer either. It's just pretty to look at and that's about it.
  23. Um, so I hope you expect everyone to react the same if they have different tastes than you. I love Atari, but I think the NES would take number 1 followed by the SNES and then the 2600 third. That's just MY OPINION. Its not just about the fact that they left the 2600 off the list. That's just one of many things. I'm just saying that overall, EGM is a horrible magazine in my opinion. Of course they can put any systems they want on the list. But it would be interesting to know whose checkbook it is that is influencing those 'opinions' of theirs. I really miss magazines like Gamefan and Syzygy Magazine.
  24. We should take a bunch of EGM magazines, piss on them and then make a bonfire out of them in front of their offices. May seem a little drastic, but that's how I feel about EGM. And not simply because they left off the greatest system of all time from their fanboy list.
  25. Am I the only person who would like to see Sony make up a new name for their next systems instead of simply adding one to the number? I know that the world indentifies with the name 'PlayStation', but it would be nice to see a little more creativity when it comes to naming their products. just my 2¢. I'm just happy with my Xbox right now. I don't care if they've reached the peak of the graphical capability. I want fun games. The Chronicles of Riddick was a beautiful looking game but since I beat it several months ago I haven't played it again as it has no replay value. I'd rather see them spending more time on making addictive games than making it so the 3D models they are making look super-realistic.
