1. Don't forget: Combat 2 Wizard Polo Video Chess And maybe: Video Pinball Human Cannonball
2. So Pitfall and River Raid made it? That's cool, I know a few people that will like having those along. Is it safe to assume this includes the sequel to Yar's Revenge, or is "Yars Return" just a typo? Lunar Lander looks good and now we know that Space Duel and Climber are included. I can't wait to know the full list of games.
3. Well, after seeing NEON for the 360 as well as more pics of Elder Scrolls 4, Quake 4 and Gears of War, I am starting to lean towards the Xbox 360. I still haven't seen any titles on the Revolution yet, so I still can't decide on it. We'll have to see how it is after the prices are revealed though. The PS3 games look incredible, but another Devil May Cry and MGS? I can see an update to FF7 being a good thing at least.
4. So any news yet on the lineup for the FB2? I hope they reveal it soon...
5. I'm going to get a 360 simply because you can change the face plate! Seriously though, I am going to wait a while on all of them. They all seem offer amazing graphics and there are a few interesting games for the lineup on both the Xbox 360 and PS3, but I don't want to pay about $400 or whatever it is for a system that I may get 3 or 4 games for. Not worth it really, not until the third generation games come out or I suddenly have a lot of disposable cash to spend on these systems. The only reason the Xbox 360 won't fail in M$'s eyes is because Bill wants it to win. As long as the money and the will is there, it's hard to see it going the way of the DC even though they are commiting some mistakes that through video game history we've seen try and fail. It's hard to say what will happen with the 'Revolution' simply because it seems like most developers these days only care about the 360 and PS3. I won't buy a Revolution simply because yet another Zelda/Metroid/Mario/Donkey Kong game will be made for it. So I'll wait, even though the Xbox 360 will have The Elder Scrolls 4 (ok, the PC will as well, but I don't have one that powerful).
6. Sorry, it's off subject but what's your screenname there, Paolo as well? For on topic, I'm glad you won't give up on it Lars. I am still looking forward to Eerievale, even if it takes longer to finish.
7. That's great. At least my brother will get that reference.
8. Figures that they would be more concerned about making some stupid Hollywood like event of it rather than catering to gamers about the whole thing. I guess that's why they went with showing it off on MTV. It's sad that this is what it's come down to really.
9. Yes, any pics of the games yet? I'll puke if I find another site that only has pictures of the celebrities supporting the Xbox 360 and no game pics.
10. So is it all about the games or the celebrities they paid to say how cool it is? Check this link out to see all the "important" pictures from the unveiling and how much they seem to care about the games. Well, it's all about the money and hype anyways, isn't it? http://entertainment.msn.com/tv/xboxunveil...6542&photoidx=1
11. I have a hunch they will be Midway games, like Joust and Defender. 853601 Hmm, I had completely missed that thread. I hope that HSW is still working on YR2. And if it's going to be on the FB2, that would make it even sweeter. So when is Atari slated to reveal all the titles, next Wednesday?
12. At the moment the only games I've heard of that excite me would be Halo 3 (or 2.5 which is just a 'finished' version of Halo 2 and with prettier graphics) and The Elder Scrolls 4. Somehow I doubt that those two games would be reason enough to get one. I honestly cannot imagine the release price of this thing being cheap with the kind of hardware it has in it. Just the 3 CPUs they'll be throwing in it would probably push it into the $300+ range. Of course, they could take a hit on the hardware like is customary and hope that the public will gobble it up. I guess we'll see how that turns out, but I won't be getting one until the price goes below $200.
13. Some people get pretty excited when you start talking about Atari, and a few are like this guy. In terms of the latter category, I always offer to buy any of those "old crappy" games from them. Well, I basically ask anyone who has any recollection of an Atari cart if they still have anything lurking in a basement or attic. Every now and again it pays off. 853098 I've been trying that out at work as well but I haven't had any luck yet. Surprisingly most people are pretty positive about it. In fact, in the class I am training right now I introduced them to AA and talked about the FB2 which excited a few people in my class. But some people do think it's crazy to still collect for the 2600. It's hard to explain why it's fun to play after all these years, it's something you have to experience.
14. That's pretty funny. I've never seen the Atari Falcon microbox before. I just looked it up and I really had no idea.... 852729 For those who haven't seen it, check out this page from AEX where they have info on the Microbox and even the patent for the PS2 where they listed the Microbox as an 'inspiration' for the PS2 design
15. Funny, I was thinking the same thing when I first saw it. Of course, most people don't know about the Indreama...it's kind of like how Sony ripped off the PS2 look from the Atari Falcon Microbox.
16. Well, from looking at that pic it looks like there is an AC port on the bottom of the controller so perhaps you have to charge it up or that could be a headphone jack The controller shape reminds me of the Logitech design for the NUON controllers. As for the system...it's interesting. Smaller
17. The vector version of asteroids is gonna be on the FB2.0 ? SWEEEEEEET! 852236 Well...sort of vector version I should say.
18. While many problems have been mentioned here, I think the prices companies like Namco or Global VR charge for their new games is insane. The arcades are lucky if they EVER make up the money again on these new manchines that cost $8000+ (I've found a few for $14,000 like Ghost Squad) and on top of that many games these days are just ports from the game consoles. The arcades need a killer app that won't be ported to all the consoles. That's usually why people by a PS2 over a Xbox and vice versa, because of the games that one has that the other won't. But you know that if there's a major hit in the arcades that it will inevitably show up on the home consoles which takes away the deisre to play that game in the arcades instead. And as long as that will happen then arcades will never be popular again.
19. It's exciting to hear about the other titles that will be showing up on the FB2, like Combat 2, Polo, Wizard, and the 'vector' version of Asteroids. I was always curious about Wizard since I read the review at Atariprotos and it looks pretty interesting. I wonder what the differences will be between Secret Quest and Mr. Robot though...
20. That seems better. Looks a little nicer as well. Great work man.
21. I was never really disturbed by the patients (ok, maybe a little) in the game, but it's one of my favorite 4a/99 games. It's even better with the speech synthesizer. The patients I can never save are the ones who are practically dead from the moment you start, where EVERYTHING is at critical and so if you try and save the brain something else craps out so you're hosed. Even still, it's a fun game. In fact, I think I'll go play it when I get home.
22. (emphasis added). So support them now so we'll see bigger and better stuff later. We should be happy that the FB1 sold so well even with the negative press, otherwise there most-likely wouldn't be a FB2. 849664 Your emphasis added makes me yearn for a Jaguar direct-to-tv unit with Tempest 2000, Defender 2000, and Missile Command 3D built in. I'm dreaming again ... 849675 Yes that would be very cool and imagine if it had network capabilities? There's a thread about this subject (a Jaguar Flashback) over at JS2 right now and T-Bird seems like he'd be interested in including BattleSphere on such a unit. Add that with an enhanced version of Doom (fix the networking bugs and allow for more than 2 players) and that would be the ultimate unit.
23. I'm also a fan of TR. I was lucky to pick it up from my cousin's collection and I've always enjoyed it. It's quite impressive at how fast the game gets once you reach level 10...I could never believe how fast and smooth that ran on the 2600. What's the farthest you've gotten on this game?
24. I think one very convincing point for me to buy it will not only be the fact that it has real 2600 hardware and that I can hack it to add a cart slot so it will be a 2600 with A/V inputs, but that it will have brand new 2600 games on it. You can spend $20-$40 on one new cartridge or $30 on getting several new 2600 games. I think homebrew games help keep the 2600 spirit alive after all these years, and it won't only have homebrews on it but also a few conversions of classic Atari arcade games. After hearing all that, I was sold even though I already have a 2600jr and a 7800. Of course, I just want to support Atari now so they will continue this trend of creating hardware. I'm not sure if many have noticed it yet, but from Curt's own website, atarimuseum.com an interesting comment : (emphasis added). So support them now so we'll see bigger and better stuff later. We should be happy that the FB1 sold so well even with the negative press, otherwise there most-likely wouldn't be a FB2.
25. Just a reminder that there is only one month (and one day) left for the contest. Feel free to PM or e-mail me if you wish to send in a submission. We have a pretty good panel of judges for the contest too. And in case I didn't mention it, the prize package also includes a Once Upon Atari DVD.
