  1. A question. The Sega Genesis has RGB out, and DVI monitors do too. Is there any reason I wouldn't be able to make a love connection between them?

DVI establishes a digital connection whereas RGB is analog. And, the analog RGB connection coming out of the Genesis would need to be connected to a scan doubler in order to output to VGA. In short, not going to happen to your DVI display. Better to get that new Genesis knockoff with HDMI.

Wait, doesn't that little plus sign on the right hand side of the cable support analog RGB? But the scan doubler thing would most likely be a problem. I wish I knew more about how this stuff works.

There are a bunch of lists of monitors known to support 15 kHz. If your DVI-I monitor is among those, it might work right out of the box.
