So I'm killing a little time browsing Amazon for interesting things and I see a little blurb about you trading stuff in to them for Amazon Store credit. I had to stop and do a classic "Wait. What?" and thumbed through the link here My impression at this point is provided that they are ethical about how they do this they are doing what Gamestop does now only in an online format. If they start offering to PayPal money too you know they went over the deep end. Worst case, it becomes the wasteland that is currently found in my local Gamestop(rob) -- a glorified pawn shop.
Thoughts?

Wow, can't believe how high that 2600 lot went. Thought I had it for a while too. <shrug> Oh well. I did nab Metal Slug 7 from you -- another favorite that I'm hideous at playing.

[ Would rather stay up late playing games than goto bed, but I'm tired... Meh, screw it... ZZZZzzzz. ]

Well whatever they said, they are wrong.

You can buy it here or I'll sell you my copy for mad-monies because it got pulled from shelves before it ever existed. Oooo RaRe $$$$!!!
Just pulling your leg on that selling it bit, but yeah. Available though Amazon right now -- shipped to your door and all that.
Mine showed up in the mail with the XB360 version and Retro Game Challenge. Fun fun fun!

[ Just lost out on a big dollar auction... Kinda mixed really, but I was hitting buyers remorse with my max bid... so it's not that big a deal.

I think that the shock factor is one of the primary elements of the S.M.Tensi series. For example, I've been playing Digital Devil Saga 1. The premise is odd in itself, but when they essentially say, to survive and become more powerful you have to eat your enemies. They use the term 'devour' for some odd reason which I still translate in my mind as "eat with great hunger". It's freaking cannibalism. The shenanigans continue in D.D.Saga 2 , except a society of people who can become monsters are hunting and eating regular people.I didn't get very far...but p4 is supposed to be better (like I'm going to open it)No matter how you slice it, that's some messed up subject matter.
Of course, I've gotta ask, why bother picking the game up if you aren't planning on playing it? I mean I have a list in my queue right now a mile long. I wanna attack Persona 3:FES or Nocturne after I finish DDS2 -- provided I'm not totally burned out on the grinding aspect of this type of game. My time logged in DDS1 is 130 hours (!!) I haven't done a second playthrough nor have I gone back and totally filled out the skill tree for the sake of batter stats in DDS2. That's a LOT of time and is only rivaled by my time logged on Lunar Legends which is a paltry 70 hours. What does it all mean?
Yeah, I still have P3:FES (fez?) and P4 still in shrinkwrap because I'm still playing other stuff.
Arkanoid is gonna get booted from my DS soon enough anyway for Retro-game challenge. So many games, not enough time to properly savor them... This makes me really sad.

I ordered this last week. I should have it in hand in the next day or so. The hard part will be waiting unti the wife isn't around to ask me that classic "WTF are you playing?!?" question.
But yeah, I'm interested in a good hack and slasher every once in a while, it looks like it'll definately be good for that. What's interesting is the Wii and the XB360 release are supposed to be separate storylines. Interesting.Hex.

If you still have the desire to fill out your PS2 game collection, Amazon is doing lightning deals on PS2 games today. I snagged a copy of Lego Batman for $15 and Persona 4 is at $26. Get it while it's still there and you don't have to pay for a reseller markup. >

[ Have you ever wanted to grab a laser pointer and state: "Nuclear Launch Detected." ? ]
-
Actually, no. It's not even a lot of money. It's that it's not even my money.
I'm also sure that if I were a professional reseller I'd have priced stuff higher. It's more of a benefit of the doubt thing than anything else. I only block a bidder if it's absolutely needed. The games are fairly popular titles though. I don't want to say, "I won't sell to you because you make me twitchy." In one case a buyer had a PO box as a mailing address and that made me nervous. Fortunately, he had some feedback and I just asked one of the sellers how the transaction went. I then shipped off his initial purchase and a fairly massive bulk buy that he did a few weeks later. All went without a hitch.
I had one buyer decide to 'withdraw his bid' after I bounced his credit card payment -- I state this clearly in the payment requirements of my auctions that I don't take credit cards. Go ahead and look for yourself, I'll wait.
So yeah, I pondered forcing the issue or just relisting it. It sold for the minimum bid anyway so he got blocked as a reward for being a knucklehead. The moral of the story, don't be a knucklehead.

@Ax:
I'll look at that Stamps.com thing right now. Having him sign for a well armored box (you've seen how I pack first hand) should mitigate a majority of the risk. If possible, PM me any tips you may have on using Stamps; I'd appreciate it.

Someone shipped you a box of rocks? Overall, the signal/noise ratio of sellers on CTCW is still pretty great in relation to EBay. If it was something serious I'm sure Mike or some of the other great members there will help you get it straightened out.
Hex.
[ It's always some new problem... and yet we apply the same old solutions from a different question. ]
-
Well, I'm happily listing things on CTCW/Vendazzle now and there's no way I'm going back to EBay as long as Mike keeps running his site.
I've got a friend who gave me some carts to sell on commission and that's been okay, but I've got a buyer who is making me hella-nervous primarily from his lack of reading comprehension skills, borderline ability to make sense, and being in a bit of a hurry to get his games. To compound the problem, he's in Canada. So inexpensive fraud-resistant tools like USPS delivery confirmation won't work. (Stupid post office.) I'm inclined to just ship it UPS which almost makes the ship cost double what USPS charges. I'm not thrilled about that, and I'm sure he won't be either. Any thoughts/ideas on what I can do to make sure he's not trying to hose me on this? Is there a happy medium that I haven't thought of? Any ideas from the peanut gallery?

I just picked up a copy of this on CTCW. I've never even heard of this game until about a year ago. I'm a big sucker for light-gun games so it'll mean that I have to dust off (read: find) my NES once again and see what it's all about. It's interesting that there haven't been too many more modern light gun games as time has gone on. Yeah, there's Time Crisis, and well... Time crisis. I wonder if Namco is being a bit prohibitive when it come to doing development with their GunCons... <shrug>Never any love for Chiller! I can't be the only one that loved this game! Everytime the NES version is for sale, it sells high! The Arcade was KILLER! Pun included

This looked cool enough for me to justify picking up a copy from Amazon ($28) and best of all I'm not giving GameStop money.

It looks like Arkanoid is going to get some competition for staying in my DS when this gets in.
Thanks for spotting this and talking about it guys.

I hope Xenosaga isn't as bad as you say, that is on my big list of games to play (and finish)

Gotta agree that reviewers probably don't play RPGs all the way through. Ever notice that a lot of the screenshots are usually pretty early on? At the same time, I can think of several games where it would be wildly impractical to do a proper review just because of the skill and time requirements. Now that I think about it, that makes me wonder how well a lot of professional reviewers actually experience the game they review.
Update:
Belzebub fell pretty readily but I kept having to resurrect one of my members since he didn't have the Null Death attribute.

Orochi was SUPER easy because I ground levels and the tech tree pretty heavily -- The guy had eight turns and I think laid a glove on me twice the entire time.
My leader character has mastered the tech tree with the exception of pre-final fight skills that aren't available.
I can guarantee that the whole party will make level 99 before the final fight. I'm not sure how I feel about that.
~125 hrs. logged... starting to pray I don't burn out before I get to the end.
Back on track for the main quest and climbing the tower... The sidetrack for more oddball boss fights forthcoming (that unlock more skills).

Sorry man, I don't have time to extensively comment... I'm still trying to min-max (or was that max min?) my way through Digital Devil Saga 1...
So far:
I am the remaining tribe ruler of the Junkyard.
King Frost has been defeated.
Currently hunting for Belezubub's second form...
Have calculated approximately how many money units it will take to learn the whole skill tree (excluding mastery) a touch under 20 Million/character...
~100+ hours logged and at about the 3/4 mark excluding side quests. Reviews claim it's a 40 hr. game... Reviewers are in a hurry methinks.
I am so NOT doing a second playthrough just to get beatdown by the Demi-feind thingie.

The story is really intriguing... Must... finish... series...
Thank gawd for my copy of HD Loader or my PS2 would have committed suicide by now.

I'm still cleaning out a lot of excess stuff in my house and among it all of my dated PC gear that I will never use. Some of this is true classic hardware and software -- there are a few bits of early Athlon stuff too. This is a pickup only event (I'm in Cincinnati) because the shipping would be really insane. And like last time, if you want it that's fine, but you have to take all of it. If you have a desire to own a large cross-section of PC history, this is a great opportunity.
I have a little over a week to make it all go away or it goes away and not to a loving home.
So... save old hardware from a horrible fate.Hex.

Your mod looks great, I do have some questions about the fms6400 though...
The datasheet says you need to tie Asel high or low, and in your schematic it looks like you have it floating. Is that on purpose, or am I missing something?
I'm not up on doing impedance matching so this question relates to the application note in the datasheet. In it they show an optional AC coupling of the output signals. I would think that would be somewhat more desirable than DC coupling the outputs or does it not really matter and omitting the 220uF caps is more of an easy way to keep the part count down?
I haven't poked at your PCB file yet, but from the photo you posted, you might want to consider going surface mount for your next rev/update. You can probably shrink the board a bit more which would make it a more intermediate project. I'd suggest an SOIC package for your CD4050 (provided that they are available) and either 1206 or 2010 form factor resistors. If you want to get daring, you can swap out your caps that are 1uF or smaller for 0805 package caps. I know you can get electrolytic SMT parts, but honestly I think they are more work than they are worth to get on a board. I personally wouldn't bother with an SMD 2n3904 / 1n914 either.
A little late perhaps -- my 0.02 cents...

Update:
My sister was in even more dire need of a new TV than I am so I opted for the Samsung LN37A550 37" set. It's not the 650 series (which I may still purchase the 32" version for my home gaming needs) But for watching broadcast HDTV and DVD movies it should work like a champ. Thanks for the feedback and support guys! She's definately going to like it v/s her (broken) 20-some-odd inch tube TV that I damn near killed myself hupping up three flights of stairs for her.
Down is easy. <thud>

I am the embodiment of lazy (or at least should be a poster child.) I bought Crazy Climber's 360 um... at least three months ago, and it remains in the box he shipped it to me in. I don't have anywhere to set it up right now...
As for ventilation, you could always buy this: (shameless plug)
http://www.chasethechuckwagon.com/item.cgi...item=0000040486
Oh please get this thing out of my house.

I'm pondering (slowly) some massive changes in my game room setup, but I haven't worked everything out yet. I am excited about the prospect of a new HDTV to make my setup look cooler, but that's another topic for another time.
My bigger concern is that even though there's very little mileage on the 360 I bought, I've lost a chunk of warranty time because I haven't the time to bother to unbox it. <sigh> This is a true high-priced problem.
