  1. I was planning a video... The Secret Santa one I did seemed to turn out well. Hex. [ Is trying to improve his youtube savvy, we'll see how it goes... ]
  2. I'm also interested in getting into the CDi. Especially after reading through the Retro Gamer article on it. I remember ads for Burn: Cycle when I was younger and those crazy cyberpunk days are like fond memories to me. So yeah, interested in the whole rig here. Ah, but that was a previous life... Hex. [ Realizes the truth associated with that I'd likely punch the me 10 years younger or more... ]
  3. I've been doing some housecleaning and found these guys stashed in a drawer. But these are new in package and the packages are in nice shape too. I'll post some pictures in the next day or so. I may do an olde-timey auction like Cebus did and call it a day... I don't know what these are or are not worth new. Hex. [ Has played WAY too much StarCraft 2 than he should be... and I don't see that trend getting any better. ]
  4. Pm-Zilla! Hex. [ Spent the day going through his old hard drives and finding the damnedest things... ]
  5. I've gotten into using these for my loose cartridges. Resealable ziplock type bags that are also ESD resistant. I put some footage of them in a youtube video I did as well. Here's the McMaster Carr link (scroll to the bottom the type is "J" . http://www.mcmaster.com/#static-control-bags/=adkpno Hex. [ "For a scientist I am to raw..." --Information Society; Mirrorshades ]
  6. I don't think I put candy in your box. If you ate anything in there, see a doctor. I know the Generation 2 Transformers were kind of simple, but they are pretty cool. The clear figures were Japanese PVC figures. They came painted and in a 'clear type' variant. Beast Machines took a lot of flak, but the Vehicon figures were honestly pretty cool looking. There also should have been some Animal Crossing E-readers in the Tenchu box. I can't remember everything I put in there anymore either, but seriously, there was no candy in there. Again, glad you enjoyed it. Also a thank you to Keilbaca for the DS spinner. Space Invaders Extreme 2 is a ton better this way! Hex. [ Is very likely going to give his 5 yr. old nephew a couple of those Gen2 toys as well... ]
  7. Interested here, as well. I'd like to fill in some holes in my PS2 collection, but I can't absorb 200 titles... Not enough space or cash for that one. Also, I know we have discussed this on and off in the past, but if you have any extra manuals or inserts, I'm looking for a few hole fillers there too. Hex. [ Feels like he is approaching the threshold of my wantlist for last gen titles... ]
  8. Update: Box is packaged and PMs have been responded to. It is 53lbs heavy... Hex. [ Pump up the BASS! ]
  9. While it will bump cost up quite a bit, you can try using Tantalum (more expensive) or ceramic caps if you can meet the capacitance/voltage specs. I like using ceramics where I can get away with it if only because you don't get the drying out issue, and you aren't going to have to worry if it's installed backwards. I'm not sure how hard it is to get tantalum caps in larger values, but I think you do overcome the electrolyte issue because I don't believe that they dry out. Also, I must agree, don't use EBay for buying these kinds of parts. you can get the same thing from DigiKey / Newark / Mouser for a better price and you won't have to worry about getting screwed by the seller. The downside is that they tend to have a minimum purchase amount (typically $25) so if you want some spares or have a side project that you can justify buying parts for, this is the way to go. Probably more than you wanted there... Hex. [ Just facepalms when students ask about the polarity on electrolytic cans when they ask "Is it the long leg that's plus?" Look at the can dammit! It's marked! ]
  10. Same here... That I'd like to purchase a copy of this game that is... Hopefully after they have fulfilled the current preorders, there will be an 'unlimited release'. Not sure at what quantity would be considered a sweet spot, but I'm sure they would be more likely to make another run if there are more people expressing interest in a large lump. Kind of like the Everdrive effort you coordinated Ax. So the magic question is "What's it gonna take to get more of these produced?" Hex. [ Has wound up with multiple copies of Beggar Prince... We never saw that one coming... ]
  11. Just a heads up... Amazon is doing a group of lightning deals on some more popular modern games today. Hex. [ Is trying to decide what threshold some of the lazy GOTY releases are worth the bother... ]
  12. Bump + update... I need to get this guy properly packaged and weighed before I can determine a shipping cost. It's HEAVY to the point that I know USPS won't take it. So it's UPS or FedEx to get it there. My dad paid $180 for this unit back in the day, I'd be okay with $40 + shipping. At the very least it's got a good picture tube on it and that should be motivation enough for folks who are sick of looking at tubes with burn in. If there are any other pictures you'd like to see, let me know. Hex. [ Kitty sleeps on the vents at night... and freezes the rest of us... ]
  13. Pictures of said monitor... Honestly, this thing looks pretty darn new; no burn in on the tube, the chassis is clean. The box is marked with how much my dad paid for this thing. Hopefully that answers any questions... make me a decent offer and it's yours. Hex. [ "Check Ze Tweets!" --Craig Ferguson ]
  14. Bought Ogre Battle for PS1 from Greg back in August and he threw in Phantasy Star Universe. Everything was as expected. Thanks man! Hex. [ Could fill the time with some music... I wonder how that works by volume... ]
  15. My box arrived yesterday. Today... we open it for great justice! http://www.youtube.com/user/hex65000?feature=mhum EDIT: Odd typo... Hex. [ As the quarter has wrapped up I have generated at least a couple of videos... go me. ]
  16. They should have made it April 01 instead... if only so we could have some irony. Hex. [ Is just nervous listening to his friends talk about horribly bad movies... ]
  17. There is no case. So I guess it's clear. I have no idea about the 15kHz input. I'd like to get it into a loving home before it ends up in the landfill. I'll take some pictures of it and post them in the next few days. Hex. [ Is anxiously waiting for his newish laptop to show up... ]
  18. I'm continuing to clear out some stuff from my house that I just do not have room for. In short, make me an offer if you are interested. My dad fired this up once and I watched it work just fine. That was the mid 80s, and it's been sitting in its box ever since. Also included is the service manual. Shoot me a PM, and we'll see what we can do. Hex. [ Is just pondering all sorts of inane stuff... ]
  19. Well, the package I sent got to its destination today according to USPS. I'm pleased about the speedy ship time that's for sure... Now if the recipient likes what they got is my only remaining concern. Can't compete with the cool factor that Cebus did that's already a given. Hex. [ Has built a 3' K-Nex stand... and is a little disturbed by it... ]
  20. I was really surprised that NPR did two spots on this title and interviewed Spector during at least one of them. Although the way he talked it was like Mickey Mouse never was in a video game before... Off the top of my head, I can think of at least 3 platforms where Mickey was mentioned in the title and was shown prominently in the cover art. Sounds like an interesting title, but I've exceeded my buy limit for games this month pretty badly... Hex. [ Notes the mountain of titles he should bust out and play before he buys anything else, but I'll likely buy something anyway... ]
  21. Waitaminute... Are you saying that you bought a $60 game and like the trailers on a DVD you had to sit through an ad for another one of their games before you could do anything? WTF!?! Hex. [ Remembers a few of the launch XBox 1 titles had demos and trailers on them, but you weren't forced to watch them... ]
  22. I picked up Heavy Rain (ps3) and Splatterhouse (360) for $35 ea. It also looks like they are gonna do it again tomorrow so keep your eyes peeled. Missed out on Just Cause 2, but that's okay. I want to try out JCause 1 on PS2 before I drop money on it. Hex. [ Has noticed that he buys a lot of gaming stuff over the Christmas season, and is somewhat disturbed by it too... ]
  23. Heads up! Amazon is doing a 'Cyber Monday' on videogames today. Hopefully something good is in there. Hex. [ Doesn't need to spend more money dangit! ]
  24. I found this among many things as I've been cleaning out my dad's uber-cache of stuff and thought that this could find a loving home. As far as I can tell, the kit is new, and complete and has the adapter block, instruction manual, and a cable kit that you have to put together for installing it in your Mac. From the instructions, it looks like it gives you a composite video out so you can use your mac on something other than the tiny built in monitor. A quick search yielded an incomplete one for sale at $20CDN(~$17-$18US) All I want is $5US + whatever it costs to ship it to your door. It will be packed well of course. Hex. [ Has some more vintage computer hardware that will be leaving him... ]
  25. My box is going out on Monday. I couldn't find the have list the member spoke of so I opted to improvise. Still, A variety pack of novel items crammed in a box it shall be. And for the person who got me, I hope that there was a good range of options available to pick from. Very excited to see what arrives. Are we supposed to wait till Christmas, or just open them up and talk about what we got? Hex. [ Gets to write a recommendation letter today... ]
