  1. Looking forward to what you find next when you continue to clean up. I'm interested in the classic stuff and I'm in Glendale, so it could save the hassle of shipping.
  2. There is a slightly noticeable decrease in load times, but game play seems the same as the One S.
  3. Also, another shameless plug since I made a video for it:
  4. I picked up the Project Scorpio edition, but am still waiting for updates to install to get a feel for the full 4K experience. Anyone else taking the plunge, or avoiding it for a reason?
  5. No mystery, but not everyone is as knowledgeable about every topic on gaming. I do consider CRTs and LCDs a big part of gaming, and as such, open for debate and discussion.
  6. I'm not a fan of Monster cables because of the unjustified huge mark-up. However, you can find these at thrift stores for 3 or 4 bucks easily. I like the metallic braid on the cords and the green color that matches the system. The only thing I don't like is how tight the ends are that plug into the TV, they can actually pull the contacts out from the back.
  7. And what did you pay for that gaming laptop since you're comparing it to the $399 (at time of launch) PS4? On a cost per cost basis, I think the consoles are closing the gap. Especially with the $500 One X coming out this week.
  8. As a side note, if have an extra Sony Trinitron kv-32fs100 if anyone wants to pick it up in Phoenix. Free
  9. I moved up to a better model, so I have this one as an extra. If anyone wants to pick it up, you can have it. I'm posting here for other members and enthusiasts before I Craigslist it for $10. The actual TV can be seen on the Saturday Morning Showdown video on my YouTube channel below.
  10. OR... you can read the various posts and opinions in this thread and use that information to determine if you should go out and find something you want. Picking up a CRT is more of an investment in time and energy at this point. If this debate can make it easier for the next guy to decide on which TV to use, I'm all for it.
  11. I think that's a relativity issue. If you put two identical new TVs side by side and hook up a 480p PS2 on one and a 1080p PS4 on the other, you might realize how big a difference there is. PS2 had no Blu-Ray or native wireless controllers. I'm certainly not bagging on it, but it is showing its age.
  12. You're preaching to the choir on that one. I spent years upgrading CRTs from Craigslist and thrift stores, though Goodwill no longer has CRTs in my area. It's to the point I can nearly tell the model of Trinitron or I'Art from the front bezel. Not because I'm a savant, but the amount of Google searching I've done figuring out if a drive across town was worth it. BTW, anyone looking for Sony Trinitrons in the KV xxFV310 models (xx being the screen size), they have a unique border around the screen that has a nearly blue hue.
  13. Not sure if I have room for a 3rd set, but now I'm curious as to how it would look. I'm going to look for one locally so I can do a side-by-side comparison.
  14. It looks like the used the mold for the Bop It games for the controller.
  15. Thanks for the sub and the compliment. We use AverMedia Live Gamer Portable for HDMI and component. We had a Roxio when we did the Atari 2600 Adventure, but the picture was pure shite. That Sony was my holy grail. KV 36FV310 and I picked it up about a month ago. Until then, I also had the KV-xxFS100 model (a 32" that can be seen in the Saturday Morning Showdown video). While I really liked the FS100, the FV310s are often referred to as the best consumer level SD CRTs ever made. The picture seems a little better than the FS100, and it added a second component input as well as a separate audio connection for the S-Video. I previously had to use an audio splitter with my setup. I would rather have the 32" instead of the 36", but it's not like I can go to the store and pick one up. I searched Craigslist off and on for a few months before one came available. IMO, If you find a FV310, GET IT.
  16. I don't want to assume what others mainly use this for. But I wonder how many are like myself and will use it for the big 4 that don't have USB alternatives already available: 2600 paddles, 2600 driving, Intellivision, Colecovision?
  17. We use the Kinivo several times a week and it hasn't had a problem in over a year. I forgot to mention that the shape lets me stack other hubs and switches on it, and my Harmony 650 controls it natively.
  18. If you blink, what you just bought is old. The PS2 will be 18 years old in March, the OG XBox 18 in 2 weeks, PS3 is 11 years old and the 360 is 12. Even the Wii is 11 years old.
  19. I know. My point was that they run the middle ground of older and newer tech. Unfortunately, while they do both, they aren't the best at either, making them a mediocre choice. They top out at 1080i, they suffer from the same convergence issues as a traditional CRT, they are heavy AF (190 lbs for the 34 inch), and the largest one was 40". In the end HD CRT falls short of what a modern LCD can do. Unfortunately, because they are HD, they don't make the cut for older systems either. No scanlines, no light guns, 16:9 orientation. I looked at these when setting up my game room and decided it was better to have a SD CRT and an LCD to fit the needs of modern and retro gaming.
  20. Liked and subbed for Intellivision Night Stalker. I didn't own it as a kid, but my neighbor did. I went over there more for that game than to look at his MILF mom.
  21. This thread is giving me a flashback or downloading music on dial-up and having someone call me just as I was about to finish getting a song. Happened all the time and I would have to re-start the download all over again.
  22. I honestly never heard anyone debating this. The main showdown at the time was XBox vs PS2. The GameCube seemed to be the red headed step child of that generation. I knew 2 people that had one and only one of them played it. I have nothing against the cube, but it was rarely mentioned in the best console debate at that time.
  23. I never have, maybe I'm lazy, but mostly I just don't think it's important. Maybe I should start and include the scores on my YouTube channel?
  24. I played Doom 32X yesterday. It was enjoyable, but part of me kept thinking... man, these graphics are hard to take.
  25. The reason I don't use The problem is that these CRTs are HI-Def. The games still don't look quite right and the light guns won't work with these sets. You get the negatives of CRT and Hi-Def all in one set.
