  1. Defend Your Castle, ordered one today. Gunfight on my gonna get it next list.
  2. Looks fantastic, sent an e-mail this morning.
  3. Thanks very much, it's a good TV for older games, about what I have now. If you post it on Craigslist with terms like retro gaming you can probably get $25 for it with no problem.
  4. I am interested in the any of the three computers, I haven't started collecting these yet and this would be a great start. Phoenix is a bit of shipping, but we could figure it out. I'll wait until you post some pics and see if anyone local is interested first.
  5. Sorry to sound picky, but can you post the model number of that Sony? If it's a KV 32FV310 you have a gem.

Damn you and your actual facts. I can argue everyone is else spewing conjecture, but your post takes the wind out of my sails.
  7. You joke, but after Guardians of the Galaxy 2, prices are going to get pretty high on those things. Just try and find a blue Walkman from the first movie.
  8. Exactly. I even use Dodge "Em to test CRTs I refurbish for people getting into retro gaming. Hot pink and yellow to test colors and one of the best to test how black a screen can get. My six year old loves play Sky Diver with me as well. The splat sound always gets a laugh.
  9. Seems like you got the low end price of the going rate. The market here in Phoenix leans between $3-$5 for what you picked up depending on the label condition. Then again most 2600 carts at game shops are in stacks, unorganized, and uncleaned. No respect.

Has anyone noticed Hyperkin has gone quiet on this for over 6 weeks?

I like the E-Bay/Craigslist/Atariage marketplace route for an original console with the addition of a Harmony cart. That will give you the best of both worlds, original hardware and all of the games. Plus, the Harmony cart is the best bang for your buck.
  13. Thanks for clearing that up. IF the finished product gives me something I don't have or does it better than what I have. I'm in. If not, I won't open my wallet. I have a dedicated cabinet for MAME, a pedestal for arcade/pinball/systems emulation, 2 hacked original XBox, hacked Wii, hacked PS3, and a TEST PS2 for playing old games and watching movies. I don't need another. But if you give me just a little something new, my nostalgia weak spot for Atari will over ride my common sense, and I will give in.
  14. OK, so I think I get it. Crowdfunding seems like give me money for an idea so I can take it further and Kickstarter is give me money so I can take a finished product into production. Let me know if I'm right. If that's correct I now understand a bit of the negativity.
  15. Not gonna do it. I may not have a life, but I'm not spending nap/game/hobby/porn time to read all of that. However, I did follow along during the entire fiasco as it happened. I also enjoyed watching Pat and Ian at the CUPodcast as they reviewed the entire saga. I understand the correlation to the Chameleon, and the ease of which people are making the comparison. But while this low hanging fruit does seem to be the same situation, there are many things that set them apart. The Chameleon was more of a scam from an individual who had nothing to begin with. He started with almost no capital and promised a relatively small run of a niche product. He made outlandish promises and doubled down over and over again even when it became obvious (thanks in large to the people at this forum), that it was a scheme. Atari is profitable now. They have assets, just not enough for an undertaking of this size. But... all we have so far is a few renderings and a few minor details. This isn't enough information to make an educated opinion one way or the other. I snicker at those ready to pledge money and pre-order at this stage of the game. But I also don't see why there is so much vitriol toward this particular endeavor.
  16. What a company does with the product after it hits the market isn't germane to my point. My contention is that crowdfunding is a legitimate way to raise capital, be it a film, game, or service. Even though the Ouya eventually failed, it was produced and ended up in peoples homes. Maybe I'm misinterpreting the hate for crowdfunding in all of the posts. Is it the way the money is raised, how the money is applied, that many of these projects fail at a later time, or some other reason that slipped by me?
  17. A lot of comments are geared toward the crowdfunding aspect of this topic. Essentially saying this will never happen if it needs crowdfunding. While I have never contributed to one of these, and doubt I ever will, many endeavors have been highly successful using this approach. Here's just 5: Oculus Rift - over $2 million Super Troopers 2 - $4.75 million Pebble Watch - $20 million The Micro 3D printer - $3.4 million Reading Rainbow Initiative - $5.4 million Even though Oculus Rift is floundering now, it was still funded, produced, and ended up in many consumers hands (actually heads). Why is crowdfunding taboo when it works? If a company is being ambitious and attempting a project that is beyond their means, they go after funding. Banks, mergers, foreign investors and other traditional sources all come with their own demons.
  18. I get being cautious, but there has got to be a little excitement and optimism left. Those are two of the things that keep my interest and wallet in this hobby. While I'm not clearing a spot for this system on my shelf yet, it seems a lot of people on this site are pissing on this fire before it truly sparks. I understand there are a lot of things that need to go into a good system, and we haven't seen any of it yet. But at least these guys realize the woodgrain, the black Vader, and the ribbed top are iconic, and they are going in that direction. We have a couple of modeled pics, that's it. But at least they are great modeled pics.
  19. 0 for 4, at least I was consistent ly bad.
  20. Sooo conflicted! I feel like the mini-wheat commercials of the 80's. My adult side says this will most likely be another android type box I don't need or really want, but the kid in me wants that wood grain goodness with the smooth white light Atari symbol on my shelf right now.
  21. Curious about the prices, especially the Colecovision expansion module
  22. While my initial excitement level was through the roof when I saw the Atari video, it's loosing steam fast. I understand the strategy in building a level of enthusiasm, but this is ridiculous. Announce a product, ask for money, wait a couple weeks, show 2 boxes, tell everyone to wait a couple of weeks to see what's inside. Seriously?!? They're not even real boxes. That's a mock up in photoshop of what a box looks like. They didn't even bother to adjust the background between the two, just used a woodgrain layer and an orange layer of the same image.
  23. 32" Sony Trinitron. I have a KV 32FS13, but really want a KV 32FV310
  24. I love taking in completely useless knowledge, helps me answer more Jeopardy questions. I mean question more Jeopardy answers.
  25. In his defense, the thread was resurrected by someone else.
