  1. I purchased a 7800 XM pre-order a while back in this thread but have had to slim down my collection and no longer have a 7800. If anyone wants to buy it from me let me know.

  2. I have one with a dodgy keyboard membrane (a few keys don't work due to cracked traces- could be fixable) that you might be interested- has a few extras such as memory cards and a reader etc. Let me know if you are interested and I'll send over some photos.

  3. Any idea where I could get a 520STm case ? My motherboard is working fine, (has TOS on ROM, and a Marpet upgrade yielding 2.5MB of RAM, and is a candidate for some Exxos toys in the future), but would like a nicer case... Of course spare parts wouldn't hurt.

I have a dead 520ST that I've been salvaging spare parts from, case is fine as far as I remember. If you're somewhere in North America I could probably post it reasonably cheaply. Let me know.

  4. Have you tried the version on Automation CD 242? ftp://ftp.cs.tu-berlin.de/pub/atari/games/Automation/A_242.ST

There are also 3 versions in TOSEC (search in the page for "Shoot'Em Up Construction Kit") http://ia801904.us.archive.org/zipview.php?zip=/34/items/Atari_ST_TOSEC_2012_04_23/Atari_ST_TOSEC_2012_04_23.zip

You could try those on an emulator first to see if they work and then transfer them to disk if they do.

  5. I've listed a bunch of Lynx and 7800 games fulfilled by Amazon Canada, search or click through them here:

    https://www.amazon.ca/gp/aag/main/ref=olp_merch_name_2?seller=ASVVEHBRLZEPV

I didn't spend a lot of time setting prices, feel free to make me an offer on here if I've overpriced something and I'll reduce it on the site.

I listed them here because I need to get rid of a whole load of stuff and I shipped it all to Amazon in a single box for CAD$10 - packing up and calculating the shipping for 60+ individual boxes is just too much effort for me. Also shipping is cheap (or free if you have Prime or order enough) within Canada, and hopefully shouldn't be too bad from the US either.

  6. Wow, brutal, that development of an RTC was easy and done strightforward 30 years ago for the 8bit.. and to this day no real solution for the ST.

Forget-Me-Clock was released 30 years ago, probably the most popular standalone ST RTC, was mentioned in the thread PP linked to: http://www.computinghistory.org.uk/det/32516/Forget-Me-Clock%20II/

I acquired a few of these QMI DeskCart recently with a big lot of stuff; combines a RTC with a bunch of desk accessory utilities:

  7. Two 1040STEs, one looks great thh other very yellowed, can be supplied with 4MB. 1040 STF in great condition, and a 520STFM. Shipping to the US is about US$50 for 1 machine. I'm going to test and photograph these machines soon; let me know if you are interested in any.

Two AdSCSI Plus cards; one boxed with manual looks unused, on the other the connectors have been trimmed a bit to insert a PCI card type metal insert.

Atari Development Kit; no idea if it's worth anything, would be sad to recycle it.

  8. Hey Exxosuk - thanks for the info. Not worried about if the case is yellowed (looking to paint mod that) - as long there are no deep gouges or cracks . Would like clear bright keys though. Is it okay for me to PM you (or you PM me) to discuss further - I know you are busy. So drop me a line when you have the time.

I have a very yellowed 1040STE that you might be interested in. I also have another 1040STE in better condition, a 1040 STF that looks even better, and a 520STFM. Shipping to the US is about US$50 for 1 machine. I'm going to test and list these machines soon; feel free to contact me if you want photos etc.

  9. SO I am looking at a HP LP2475W and this has VGA COMPONENT(RGB) and Svideo input.

SO this thread has been about getting the ST to work with these monitors through the VGA.. What about Component input?

    Horizontal Frequency
    30 to 94 kHz

Component is not RGB. Using component input would require an RGB to component conversion box. I doubt that this would allow the monitor to work in a resolution that isn't available over RGB/VGA though. S-video would again require conversion as the ST only ouputs RGB, and RF & composite if it has a modulator.

30kHz horizontal is not low enough; needs to go down to 15kHz for low/medium res. There's a chance that it works with high res. There's also a chance that the specs are wrong as they are with the NEC 1970.

If you get a video converter by someone like Extron or a Micomsoft XRGB (or one of the cheaper options such as Gonbes and various SCART to HDMI boxes) then you can use any modern monitor with the ST, which is probably the way to go.

In general if you pick a random monitor that isn't listed on (nor part of the same series) the Wiki page shown above, and that doesn't list 15kHz horizontal in its specs, then the chances are very very slim that it will work with the ST's low res without some conversion hardware.

  10. Actually it seems that Gamegavel is not programmed by a mom and pop shop at all, but through a "professional" auction hosting provider. This page showcases Gamegavel as a prime example of their handwork. Their own page looks like a mess.

That's just hilarious; GameGavel's auction hosting provider itself is a mom & pop shop with a 15-year out of date website.

Sadly, he was selling on Ebay during the peak of all his promoting of GameGavel several years ago at the very time he was trying to get people with high value and truly unique items to list on GG to drive traffic.

I don't keep up with this thread much anymore, but I thought I'd leave this here:

    http://beta.nintendoage.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=7&threadid=163269

I have read stories that he won quite a few auctions of rare games put on the GameGavel site. Being in charge of the site, the theory was that he knew what everyone's high bid was and could use this as an unfair advantage in bidding for items. Perhaps he is personally fully behind his site, but only as a buyer.

Putting two and two together, I wonder if there are any examples of Mike picking up 'bargains' on GameGavel (using his Admin access) and flipping them at a higher price on eBay? I wouldn't put it past him. Even if he isn't doing it, it's pretty shocking that the owner of an auction site both buys on that site and sells on eBay.

  11. When you say "all ST modes" does that include Hi-res? Would that require a different cable as that option is disabled on the 'Set Preferences' dialog?

Yes, the great thing about these multisync LCD monitors is that they do both low and high resolution (and a usable in emergencies version of medium).

The old ST mono monitors ground a 'mono detect' pin on the monitor port when they ate plugged in. The ST boots into low (or medium if the desktop has been saved in that res) 50/60Hz or high 72Hz depending on the state of that pin. Plugging or unplugging a mono monitor reboots the ST. In high resolution the 'low and medium' options are greyed out in 'set preferences'.

If you go back to the start of this thread there's an example of a cable that does both High and Low/Medium. Best Electronics sells a similar cable. It uses a switch instead of plugging/un-plugging the mono monitor.

  12. That would be interesting. I always found it fascinating that "Coleco" was willing to license the brand with nothing up front except for the same empty promises that were given to the public. I do not think there's much of a case they could make though, they were completely negligent here, giving MK the benefit of the doubt in spite of not having a speck of proof that he could deliver.

They had his word as a gentleman, and a firm handshake, which should be all that is needed ;)

  13. I seem to remember a screw hiding under a security sticker, I don't recall it being hard to open.

"Before you consider buy any Atari replacement parts (like the best MegaSTE Keyboard mylar)

lets run a quick MegaSTE Keyboard test. Take apart your Atari MegaSTE Keyboard down to the mylar.
Next remove the #2 Keycap. Then swap one of the MegaSTE keycap numeric keypad plungers (with the conductive pads that make contact with
the MegaSTE mylar) that are never used and swap it with the #2 plunger. Reassemble up the MegaSTE keyboard and test it."
Is there some special tool to remove the #2 keycap on numeric keypad as he recommended?

Usually the problems are with broken traces on the mylar itself, this page about the (identical) TT keyboard has good photos and info: http://www.mr2.net/marknias/atari_tt030.html#Keyboard

When I do remove keycaps, I use a Cherry MX keycap puller, but a small loop of string looped twice under the key works well too. Just make sure that you are pulling straight up, without rotating the key. Removing the outer case first might make it easier to get at the keys. Also don't pull too hard if it doesn't want to go, on some STs the keycaps are glued on.
