No, as it hasn't sold it's a high bound on the price- people aren't yet willing to pay US$500. Always look at eBay's sold listings to get a better idea of market price. An auction for a Jaguar + CD + 2 controllers + 13 games recently went up to US$560, so prices aren't yet quite that crazy. People are willing to pay close to US$500 for a Jag CD complete in box though. My cat usually has more fun with the box than I do when I buy something new.

Coleco Chameleon .... hardware speculations?
galax replied to phoenixdownita's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I heard that Steve Woita told him to say that, which he tried to indicate with his eyes by looking at him- it's like a hostage video. It's beginning to look like politely asking you to remove his name from the original video would have been such a better option for him. Maybe he'll think again and try that option. He seems like an OK guy to me, other than the tendency to exaggerate his abilities and experience. -

That only works before the video has been taken down, which is why the Google link is useful. When I posted the video wasn't on YouTube. I use http://keepvid.com/to save a copy of stuff from YouTube. It's been uploaded to LiveLeak, some links have been posted in the comments of SD&R's recent video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=29pNBfdkCAw -
Magazine cover disk downloads - where?
galax replied to KLund1's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
Smonson over at Atari-forum noticed that most STart coverdisks have been archived as single sided. This is a problem as they switched to a dual SS/DS format in November 1989, and the data on Side 2 of these disks has been lost: http://atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=29634 All archives that I could find are missing Side 2 from most disks, including TOSEC, http://www.atarimagazines.com/software/startsoftware.html and http://www.planetemu.net/roms/atari-st-coverdisks If anyone still has these November 1989 (Vol 4 Number 4) to 1991 coverdisks it would be great to try to save a double sided copy of them, or at least extract the information on them and save that. -
Coleco Chameleon .... hardware speculations?

I think morally the fact that it was made and released publicly as part of an attempt to deceptively crowdfund $1.95 million means that it should be preserved in some form for future reference. -
Coleco Chameleon .... hardware speculations?

I wouldn't put it past him; John 'Johnlogic' Carlsen was willing to spend $1,450 in 2006 to file a domain name squatting suit on behalf of his 'company' Syncopated Systems, instead of paying $67.70 (owner's registration costs) to just purchase the domain. He lost the case and rather amusingly was accused in the decision of bringing the claim in bad faith and attempting "Reverse Domain Name Hijacking." http://www.adrforum.com/domaindecisions/780309.htm Edit: Syncopated Systems is successful enough to have a Facebook page with 1 solitary like: https://www.facebook.com/SyncopatedSystems/- 'they' seem very pleased to plug 'their' little C-128 RGB converter, despite it being a trivial implementation of someone else's very simple circuit. A bit of a comedown for a company whose engineer(s) pretty much claim to have invented the mp3 player, sound card, TV capture card, and were sought out by Sony in 2010 to design a plug'n'play PlayStation. -
FS: Massive Lot of Various Things (Atari, INTV, PS2, etc.)

Oh good, I thought that handle sounded familiar! Hopefully they're just too "busy" or something these days. Wonder why she's brokering his stuff though? How did cmart604 know that? Did anyone ever follow up with Kefka? If someone wants payment as a gift "to avoid PayPal fees", just pay them a bit extra to cover the fees. -

Someone posted a link on SD&R's video to a downloadable copy of the video in question. If that thing is on a dozen different services there'll be no point in John Carlsen going through with the Takedown. -
With very few exceptions, the answer is always 'no'. Game disks are almost always 'protected', to make it difficult to see the files and to copy them. Fortunately for us many games have been deprotected and hard disk adapted by smart and dedicated coders, so you can put this version on your hard drive: http://atari.8bitchip.info/SCRSH/stargl.html

First 15 minutes on Virtual Jaguar - awesome! Slick, fast, responsive, lots of stuff to blast. That's going on the Skunkboard after dinner. -

I image searched a few and couldn't find any matches. Lets hope it's just someone who is a bit disorganised and not a scam. -
FS: Massive Lot of Various Things (Atari, INTV, PS2, etc.)
galax replied to ViviLasVegas's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
I got one slightly confusing reply last week, it seems that ViviLasVegas was in fact OK with shipping to Canada: "What all were you interested in? It hIghly depends on that if that's fair haha." Heard nothing since though, not sure if I'd be comfortable sending money at this point, so interest withdrawn. -
I had an angry bee sound in my Falcon, and it was an inductor (looks like a fat resistor) that looked burned out. It's on the main board right under the power supply, I thought it was the PSU at first. I have photos somewhere.

Yep, the keypresses are interpreted by TOS; the ST keyboard doesn't know or care what's on the keys. If your TOS matches keycaps, all is good. Make sure they are Mega ST keycaps if you manage to buy them(Best again?). The stem size is a bit different for the regular ST, and MSTE/TT keys are very different.
-
The German keyboard will work fine, just don't look at the keys, or use stickers, or replace a few of the keys.
-
STs with an internal floppy (STF/STFM/STE) have the mouse/joystick ports on the keyboard. The earlier models had the mouse/joystick on the case, but all the pins connected straight through to the larger keyboard connector, so the IKBD still handled the mouse + joystick.
-
Never seen anyone sell them, this page has disappeared unfortunately but the description (no images) of how to do it is fairly clear: https://web.archive.org/web/20110915021317/http://phsw.110mb.com/hw-stkbd.html You could use a CosmosEx to adapt a PC keyboard to the ST. Eiffel too I think if you can find one. I'd consider finding a real Mega ST keyboard in the long run though as they have mechanical switches. The MSTE/TT keyboards are membrane but have a bit more fedback.
-
Price is OK, not a bargain but there's not that many of these around. You can use any Mega ST/STE or TT keyboard with it. Normal ST mouse and joystick plug into the keyboard, and can even use your STE keyboard if you rig up the right adapter cable. You can use any regional keyboard, but if it doesn't match your TOS the keys won't all match the characters produced. Video output is the same as a regular ST- all 3 modes. The Mega should have a blitter, also a battery backed clock.

I'll take the Jaguar games and maybe a few others if you'd ship to Canada (at my cost of course). -
Signed 1/20 Jaguar Collection Atari Jaguar by Orion - Valuation please
galax replied to Niitestalker's topic in Atari Jaguar
I want to be on that list too, give my money and appreciation to people who build stuff, not flip it. Also if Downfall is ever re-made I'd jump on the list for that too. -
I figure anyone who has changed address in the last 5 years faces about the same level of risk. I'll take it if it's still available, will PM to sort out the details. Thanks!

Signed 1/20 Jaguar Collection Atari Jaguar by Orion - Valuation please
galax replied to Niitestalker's topic in Atari Jaguar
He did start the bidding at $1, it's not his fault that the bidders are dumb. It's only up to $6, so they're not as dumb as Niitestalker (lerky9) looks for writing ***ULTRA RARE*** on his auction.
