  1. Hello, been a long time since I posted or asked any questions but I am stuck and can't find any code or explaination to fix my problem.

    I want to have a score with a dollar sign at the beginning of the score $. My problem is when I add to the score it turns to a 1.

    I took this code from another thread. I also use the custom font file so the dollar and space work just fine.

    const fontstyle=STOCK
    const fontcharDOLLAR=1
    const fontcharSPACE=4
    dim sc0=score
    dim sc1=score+1
    dim sc2=score+2
    rem we update the score bytes individually...
    sc0=$ba
    sc1=$00
    sc2=$00
    Only when I add to score do I have problems. The dollar sign turns to a 1. I even tried adding to sc2 and still it won't won't work.
    Hope this isn't too stupid of a question.

  2. Hey everyone. I am toying with the paddle. I would really like to make a playfield of some sort, but it seems like its not an option. Do you lose this when you use the option to use the read paddle function?

    Thanks for any help you can give.

  3. Thanks Rybags. But I was wondering if you or anyone else had a formula for interia? The table logic idea is great, and that would cut down on a lot of having multiple switches.

  4. Hello everyone, I am working on a friving games and thanks to tutorials I now have floating point variables. But I am having problems simulating Inertia. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks,

  5. @ WickedC I use makewav filename.bin /ts

    @RandomTerrian The 'friend' told me that he thought they discontinued it. But I also think he was worried I would be pirating new games on it, and not buying games. It seemed strange to me at the time. But I am glad its cleared up, and I am going to buy one myself.

    Sorry for being ignorant to this.

  6. Actually, I am not sure about the Harmony. A friend on FB told me they never got their Harmony cart in the mail. So I just kinda assumed they didn't make them anymore.

    I know my game comes way under 4k, but I can't seem to get it to work on the Supercharger. The load screen appears, then nothing. I tested Frogger Arcade on it and it worked just fine. I am using Makewav to convert.

  7. I been working on a game, and I really want to put it on real hardware. I have a unmodded supercharger, and I know the Harmony cart is discontinued. So is there maybe another option? I don't need a lot of space. Just enough for one game.

    Thanks, and I am sorry if I asked in the wrong place.

  8. When I buy a game console, my main purpose is playing games on said console. If it supports anything else that is a plus. But I could care less if it supports any multimedia playback. Especially if it will make the price go up on the console. I am a video game fanatic, so there are where my interests lie.

    I hear what you are saying and don't disagree. I've often wondered why consoles just don't play games or cell phones don't just make phone calls or wrist watches don't just tell time, etc....

    Then I remember that people don't buy car's to just get from Point A to Point B; they have to be a total life experience with televisions, DVD players, Blue Tooth capable, built-in phones, mini-fridges and coffee cup warmers and on and on and on.

    Maybe its a sign of the times that customers no longer want one device for one task but want one device that performs many tasks. We're no longer satisfied with a bread machine that only bakes bread or a TV that only receives TV signals or a power drill that just drills holes.

    In the end, a system that didn't include CD - DVD - Blu-Ray playback wouldn't automatically be a "non purchase" for me. Neither would the exclusion of backwards compatibility. They are all nice features to have and do eliminate a lot of cords laying around in the living room. But I can live without these features.

    I am surprised, though, that with Nintendo seemingly ready to enter firmly into the "HD graphic - Internet powered - digital purchasing" world of today gaming environment that their newest system wouldn't at least allow for the playing of a CD. It still seems weird to me that Nintendo includes a music CD with some of the games/systems I've purchased but I have to seek out a device other than the Wii to play these CD's on.

    Who uses a CD player anymore, and DVD is going to way of the Dodo bird. So we are left with BluRay which I have a PS3 for that so...

    Remember the HD drive that Microsoft put out for their XBox 360 a couple years ago. Yeah, not a good idea. All those consumers got burned. So I would rather buy something that is more dedicated than having a company waste the money on technology that may not be supported. That is just me IMO.

  9. The screen on the controller just displays what the console streams it. You have to stay a few feet away from the system at all times and the controller can't act independent of the console.

    So it's not a portable game system. It's a regular console that just happens to incorporate a touch screen on the controller.

    Just an observation on my part that it LOOKS like a portable game system, I don't think anyone has any misgivings about it not being a controller.

  10. What exactly do you mean by "because the online was so terrible" sidcrazy?

    Do you mean there was a bunch of lag or was something broke in the software?

    Yeah Austin said it better than I did. The lag was terrible on the PSN version. Which was really strange because Midway (prior to bankruptcy) had published MKII on the PSN by itself and it was fine.

    The patch fixed all the problems I had with the game, but I was just wondering if anyone else had issues.

  11. Looks like a portable game system to me. That isn't such a bad thing is it?

    But regardless its difficult to tell how a controller will ultimately work until you get it in your hands. I am sure they will have some type of demo unit set up at retailers, so I don't see why so much worry over it.

  12. When the Gamecube was nearing its end the same thing happened. We still got a version of Twilight Princess. But that was it, everything else got shifted to the Wii. Super Paper Mario for example, and a few other titles moved to the Wii.

    I like the Wii honestly, but I don't rally around consoles like I use too. I purchased a PS3 and I still like it, but not for the reasons I thought I would. Everyone has their favorites, but in the end I buy a console for the games, not for anything else. Every time I buy into the hype of systems I always end up with a very expensive paperweight.

  13. There is a demo on PSN. I tried downloading it, but the file is HUGE! Really surprising since its based on a classic.

    Has anyone played it yet? Doesn't look all that much fun honestly.

    I played it (took forever to download and install). Its a little too complex for my tastes when compared to the original. In this one you get missles, targets to destroy and other stuff which gives it a lot more depth but I prefer a simple one or two button experience like the original.

    It's still simple but I prefer a really basic control structure or at least pack in the original game too. Which I don't think they did.

    I dont understand why they just cant keep things EXACTLY the same and just put fresh paint on it. (Graphics\Sound) and simply charge a few bucks for it.

    Not worth the effort? Nay I say!!

    As it is, I'm not spending that much money on this. It's nice but give me the original along with it so I can just play.

    Screw it I have MAME and blueMSX....

    I agree. The design doesn't have to be complicated, but they could change the design and make it interesting.

    What if its the exact same game, but you have a stealth helicopter? So you couldn't fly but so low, and you had to be careful of attracting attention. Just stuff like that would have me downloading this game even if it costs $50. If it had the core game play of the original, but different level design. Like moving slaps of granite to make a bridge for a motorcade? Stuff like that.
