Battlezone on modern TV's, a jittery mess.

Yeah, I definitely have some CRT tv's, I was just wondering if anyone had any luck with modern TV's. I just love how the colors pop and are much more vibrant, plus the sleek look of a slim TV next to a retro Atari is cool. None of my TV's have 'game mode". Anyone try this? I understand that it adjusts the hertz and scan-lines to accommodate input response. -
So, the 2600 Battlezone happens to be one of my favorite games, and out of the 3 modern TV's I have (2 LCD, and 1 LED), none of them are compatible with this game. A modded A/V and an original RF console both carry the same results. Every other Atari game I own plays just fine with modern TV's. The game itself jitters and shakes, bullets will disappear, and sounds will be out of sync with the gameplay. Anyone have any luck getting this game to work with modern TVs?

It's always helpful. The more options for videogame preservation the better. I was printing out a few manuals for my son and each site had manuals of different quality so it was nice to pick and choose as it made a difference in being able to read the text when printing. Digital press manuals mostly all have a yellow tint, and atatiguide manuals are too high in contrast, atariage and atarimania has slim pickings, etc..

Christine, like the car. Or Sylvia (codename of the 3200) Candy (codename of the 400 computer) Coleen (codename of the 800 computer) Pam (codename of the 5200) Rumored all to be secretaries at Atari, except for Stella.

I vote for the current car graphics, gives it that classic 4k first generation of Atari games feel. Plus I got a vibe of the Bump n Jump car, which is always a good thing. I do like the idea of a fixed background color for the bottom score, and the playfield changing every third stage.

Beam Rider and Turmoil is always how I imagined a Tempest game would work with VCS hardware.

This game is awesome. My high score is 422. If this came out in the heyday, it would be in my Atari all the time Only issue I had was sometimes the background color would go white, and hide the score while I was in the heat of the next round.

What 2600 games are you playing right now?

Gravitar and Crazy Climber.I love Gravitar, such a skillful game. -
Lately it's been kinda bugging me that most of my cart labels look terrible. I am not really a collector, but I do like having my essentials to be nice looking. I've been slowly swapping them out with nicer ones that I find for a good deal on ebay/game gavel.

can the Harmony Cart display jpg or bit maps in the menu?
sloth-machine posted a topic in Atari 2600
Any kind of jpeg ir bmp viewer? Probably a bit fat no, but just curious as I like to put cartridge art on it. Wasn't sure if the cart strictly used just the 2600 hardware. -

Do the plastic molds for the 2600 still exist?
sloth-machine replied to sloth-machine's topic in Atari 2600
Purely for cosmetic/customizing reasons is the point of my topic. It'd be neat to have a 'glow in the dark' Atari console shell for example. -

Would 3D printing be a possibility? -
Seeing how Socal Mike made awesome transparent cases with the original Jaguar molds a few months back, I was curious to imagine the 2600 with interesting plastic mold colors. Do these still exist with any model?

I love all versions of the Junior. It's sleek look is so mid 80s and it catches my eye everytime I walk by it, much like the originals woodgrain is such a product of the late 70s. Reminds me of an answering machine. The long rainbow version is still easy to find in brand new condition since it was the most recent and overstocked. I never understood how to open the Jr. without breaking the cheap tabs holding it together. If someone has a method, let me know.

A Review of Quality Controller Options For The 2600
sloth-machine replied to Skippy B. Coyote's topic in Atari 2600
My only complaint with most arcade sticks is that the buttons are generally on the right, as to be expected with arcade controls. But with Atari and certain games like Dragonfire, Crystal Castles, etc, I need to play those games with a button on the left and my right hand controlling the stick. Funny how it switched around with Atari joystick. -

I still play Atari Pac-man. Just played a few rounds last night. It has an unexplained charm..which I will explain. It hits all the standard Atari quirks I grew up with. Garish/clashing colors, harsh sound effects, flicker up the ass, just one screen, ugly presentation and crude animation. All these combined into 4k give it the Atari charm that I absolutely love . -

Sentinel eh? Interesting. You know that's the one game I,ve never tried but certainly want to. Looks fun in a Duck Hunt kinda way. Gotten add that to my bucket list. Oh yeah, I need a CRT TV too. Anyway, I've been on a Battlezone kick. I love the 2600 port. It could pass for a primitive first person shooter. Because of the fluid 3D space. I find it superior to the arcade because of the sheer amount of tanks that can appear on the battlefield as opposed to the arcade's 1 tank at a time, despite having no objects to hide behind. Best use of 2600 hardware, IMO. -
Haunted House scrolls vertically as well. Haunted House and Jr Pacman also scroll vertically.

Would latency be an issue for shielded cables? I just assumed the thickness was due to the outer shield, but the copper wiring was essentially the same millimeter making no impact for signal speed. Correct me if I am wrong here. Either way, I did test for controller latency and response time is spot on for a standard store bought shield cable.
