  1. Can I connect a composite video source to my manual AV swichbox if I have the box outputting S-video to my PVM? It sounds like I'm hand-wringing but I don't want to risk damaging my PVMs.

      it might not work, but it wont damage it, they are essentially the same signal, svideo is just composite split into chroma and luma

      I was wondering if the luma would just carry the composite signal in this case. I tried the opposite a while back and output composite from an s video source and it just gave a black and white picture.

      That wont work. composite are wired to composite & svideo to svideo. The different ports dont meet inside the switch.
