Today I saw a PAL 50Hz signal on a CRT for the first time. I was surprised how much more flickery it looked vs the NTSC I'm used to.

Just realized that my Mega Drive's power supply is failing... All this time I was thinking that the visual artifacts I was seeing were from my SCART cable, but I realized that was unlikely considering that it's wired for Composite Sync, not Sync-Over-Composite. Plus, the weird visual affects would get worse the longer I had the console plugged in.
Anyhow, I'm keeping my console unplugged for now until I source a replacement. You absolutely don't wanna fuck with finnicky power supplies. It's a pain cause I hate ordering stuff and waiting for it to come, but this is 1000x better than trying to use this weird PSU and hope for the best.
For all I know, this could've been the case the whole time I had the cheapo HDMI converter, but I wasn't able to notice it until I got a more clear RGB signal.

One of my favorite Garfield on the fence strips.

Any North American Atari ST fans here? Raise your hands if you are!

Not gaming related, but why (and I know) do so many rechargeable products NOT have more easily replaceable batteries! Had to carefully open my electric razer and unsolder and solder in a new battery, and then our wine opener... Opened it, and yep, I need to solder in a new one. I can do that, but what a waste. Most people won't! Grrr....

Is there no end to the number of MECC titles on Apple II?

Mega Man X4 version differences:
1. The cutscenes are clearer on the PS1 version.
2. The PS1 version has better transparency effects, whereas the Saturn version has nice heatwave effects. (Note: The Sega Saturn can handle transparencies, but that required knowledge in taking advantage of the hardware. Said transparencies were of the subtractive/additive variety.)
3. The Saturn version had the full version of the first boss battle theme, and said first boss had extra attacks.
4. Speaking of the music, in the Saturn version, it also loops properly. After all, Capcom used the sound chip to good effect.5. Certain stages had layered backgrounds on the Saturn, such as the Volcano stage.
For those who are wondering Zero didn't have his arm cannon in it: Capcom didn't want it to devolve into press triangle/X to cheese.

Emulators are only imitations of the real thing.

I wonder what do you guys think of BallisticNG? (AKA Wipeout after Sony pulled the plug on Psygnosis/Studio Liverpool.)

Do Jaguar Superfans suffer from stockholm syndrome? It comes across to me as still attempting to justify their purchase decades after the fact.

The original Sony PlayStation wasn't the only gaming hardware to see a September '95 North American release...
Happy 25th to the Atari Jaguar CD! Only 11 official titles were released on the platform and a meager 20,000 units are reported to have been produced.
Celebrate the launch of the doomed Atari Jaguar peripheral with this montage of the 11 official releases, Virtual Light Machine and more!

Should I allow DHL to deliver a package to me without a signature? It's coming from Japan.

Same exact question, any American Amstrad CPC fans, here?

I find it really endearing for some reason. I think the lack of sprite and scrolling hardware makes me really impressed when I see anything running half-decent on it. I have a soft spot for the ST for the same reason. I do like checking out random games in emulation just to see how they are. Anything that's not a Spectrum port is fun to find.

I saw an ad on TV that said "G4 2021". Could that mean that the G4 channel is coming back next year?

Great nostalgia reading the specs for vintage PC software. Hard disk required, math-coprocessor recommended.

Which tank themed pun title do you prefer,
tanks but no tanks
or tanks a lot?

Super Castlevania IV and Bloodlines are still my favorite 16-Bit titles in the series. (I have no opinion on the x68000 game, though.)
-
For those wondering why the Super NES version of Valis IV ended up being the dissected port, Telenet had Laser Soft do the job. Had it been a better developer, it would have been closer to the TG-16/PC-Engine CD original with fewer cuts.
