  1. Geez, did AT Games put any thought into the port of Frogger? I know there is music issues, but to not put any music in the game? And then, when you jump on the turtles, it doesn't matter what set, the turtles go under water. Weird.

  3. The 1200XL has a "funnel" for the slot, which restricts some cartridges, most notably the C64 cartridge cases used for some Atari projects, from fitting into the 1200XL. If it hasn't been tested, there is a chance that it is too wide for the 1200XL. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I'll take one! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  6. You may want to use a Lantronix UDS-10. Works like a modem, but connects to the Internet instead of a POTS line. I don't think you'll get a reliable connection over MagicJack. Be sure to post your updates, I'm thinking about doing the same thing.
  7. That's what I was wondering. Wouldn't something like TIFF make a lot more sense than PDF? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. After I posted I realized this thread is about scanned files made into PDFs, not PDFs created from documents. How are scanned pictures stored in PDFs? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. It depends on how the PDF is compressed. For example, they can resize the pictures according to the size displayed instead of the size stored (the PDF could have a 4000x3000 JPG that is used for a thumbnail image). In that case, you would never be able to tell the difference between the two PDFs. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  10. Ok, it's called a Monroe joystick. "They have a circular restrictor, and a spherical pivot, so it flows very smoothly in a circle." - Re: Gyruss --- Joystick or Dial? In all these years I assumed it was a spinner of some sort!
  11. Necrobump! The control scheme for Gyruss came up in IRC, where the discussion was about a joystick for Gyruss, but I remember the exact same control scheme that Tempest mentions. Unfortunately, I can't find any information about this. Has anyone else see this control scheme for Gyruss?
  12. Get an Atari 800XL ($40-$50) and an SIO2PC-USB (you can make one for ~$5). Then use you computer as a disk drive for the computer, or as I do, use an old laptop. Mine is a 512MB Thinkpad with XP. I set it to not sleep when the lid is closed, and stuffed it under the monitor. To access the Thinkpad, I use Remote Desktop. Makes a nice and tidy drive. You can use your Commodore monitor (I have a 1701 myself) and your Commodore joystick on the Atari. Don't worry about the extra memory, very few games use it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I'm in the exact same boat. Sure I could put a 5.25" or 3.5" drive on my ATR8000, but I never used 8" drives. That would be a lot cooler. I know nothing about 8" drives though.
  14. I picked one of these up on eBay and it wouldn't sync to my MegaSTE, 1040STf or Amiga 500. It says it's a revision 1G, so I wonder if different versions don't work.
  15. From 1984 to 1990 my Atari was my main productivity and game playing machine. To get back and make it productive again (besides word processing with The Last Word) would be really cool. I'm playing around with Action! right now, hoping to make something. I could cross-compile, but I want to work on the A8. That being said, I would be first in line for the AGD no matter what system!
  16. I guess I should have offered more for the Bit 3. :-) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  17. Yes, yes it does. I love doing more things with my A8!
  18. I couldn't let this one pass. Just go to eBay and buy an Indy 500 controller! Get two and the Indy 500 game, invite a friend over and have fun. I recommend Tag or Kick the Can, two great games. Even if you never use the driving controllers for anything else, Indy 500 is worth it.
  19. It wasn't the games themselves, but the idea of video games. It took a leap of faith to put down hundreds of dollars on a device that you had no idea about. The 2600 was ~$800 (inflation adjusted) at launch, how many people were going to pluck down that amount of cash? And for something that could be as useful as a pet rock? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  20. After listening to the Antic podcasts I was under the impression that Atari employees were hughes pirates. Could these just be pirated carts? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  21. That's exactly what I've done, except I sent the composite signal to the camcorder while the chroma/luma went into the 1702. That way I could play without latency. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  22. Since Altirra already supports these models, lets see some software that takes advantage of the enhancements before going through the process of making a board. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
