  1. After watching the video of the ZXHD for the Spectrum (http://www.indieretronews.com/2016/03/zx-hd-zx-spectrum-hdmi-device-teased.html) I was wondering how the 8-bit could take advantage of a Raspberry Pi Zero. From the video, it looks like the Pi is running custom software, not just using Linux as a base. I'm assuming that's for speed issues. So, would it be possible to use the Simius' GTIA in CPLD and hook it to a Pi Zero and give the 8-bit 80 columns and HDMI out? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  2. A CHIP computer is $9, I wonder if it could be used to recreate a better XEP80.
  3. From my response on ##atari: :-) 19:10 <gozar> What would be nicer than a set up that only does the Slack API, would be one that would allow an 8-bit to just do any REST interface to the Pi, and then the Pi uses TCP/IP & SSL to make the connection to the service. 19:10 <gozar> Like the ethernet cart, but offload SSL and TCP/IP to the Pi. 19:14 <gozar> And since it's a Pi, internet games would be possible, using the pi to run the server for the clients.
  4. Here's a picture of the Side 2 cart plugged into an SDX cart plugged into a 1200XL: The SDX cart slot is slightly recessed into the cavity. I don't know which way is better, but I lean toward the "use as much of the cavity as possible" group. :-)
  5. Is there a reason it's so long? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I'm interested in 2, especially if they support component output. Would this work in an 800?
  7. I'd take two with cases, if I can still get in on the list.
  8. The SF354 is also a single sided drive, so you'd get the same amount of storage with an XF551.
  9. You can get the app from the Play store or download the app from the Github page: https://github.com/greblus/aspeqt/wiki/AspeQt-Atari-Serial-Peripheral-Emulator-for-Android
  10. Use a $49 Kindle Fire tablet and AspeQT. Works really well. I'm currently testing some OTG cables that let me also charge the tablet, I'll post when I know more.
  11. Since Action! has an 8K footprint, what would it take to replace the built-in basic with Action? You would have to add some circuitry to bank in the other 4K banks, so I have no idea if it's even possible. It would be nice for the U1M too, but that would probably require a firmware upgrade. One of my What If fantasies is What If Atari had replaced Basic with Action (along with add 80 columns) in the XL line?
  12. You could forward the old and new port to the BBS during the transition period, and post a bulletin with the changeover date. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I'm behind on Season 3, but don't watch the show for any sort of technical accuracy. The promo picture for season 2 shows 2600 Combat on a Commodore. Just let go any feelings of technical accuracy and you'll enjoy the show even more.
  14. Politics don't work in AtariAge, and I'm not a big Clinton supporter, but this is not as black and white as it seems: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/fact-checker/wp/2016/06/13/did-the-clinton-foundation-raise-hundreds-of-millions-of-dollars-for-a-hospital-in-haiti-that-was-never-built/
  15. I think you're supposed to use the unscented with babies. I'm pretty sure mine was scented, but I didn't notice the smell. It does make the controller look dusty, but I don't care, I can use the controller again. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Baby powder. I had a cordless Xbox controller that had the rubber turning into a sticky mess. Baby powder fixed that, although the black controller is now dark gray. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. This was an idea that I started to research. Use an Arduino Pro which can act as a USB keyboard, and connect it to the joystick port. Haven't gotten around to trying it, but I like it because it doesn't involve any modifications to the machine.
  18. Your choices are the 8-bit computer line, the Lynx, the 7800, and then the Jaguar. The system with the most games would be the 8-bit computer line. In fact, it could be argued that it has the most games of any Atari system, more than the 2600. Go for an 800XL and buy (or build) an SIO2PC-USB adapter and you're then good to go. To get a taste, check out the Altirra emulator. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. The audio is messed up in this one, sounds like the entire podcast starts playing over the podcast itself. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Hope you don't mind, I ran your html through Pandoc to create an ePub file, and then used Calibre to convert to a .mobi file for Kindles. Boot Camp - epub and mobi.zip
  21. One screw opens it up, I just use it without the case in my 1200XL.
  22. Although they might not have any stories about the Atari 8-bit, it sounds like you have an in with John C Dvorak and Dan Kottke. Would love to hear their thoughts. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. The MIO adapter has feet on the bottom so inserting a cart pushes on the feet and not the port. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
