  1. Right now I bought a scsi2sd board (http://www.codesrc.com/mediawiki/index.php?title=SCSI2SD the V5 model) which works well in my SE/30, and I'm waiting to get my MIO back from MG66 to test the scsi2sd with the MIO. I know the scsi2sd did not work with the original MIO. (Or at least I couldn't get it to work. ) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Can I still get added to the preorder list? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Put this and an UAV into a 600XL last night. Best video I've ever seen, and now I have 4MB! How do I get my IDE+ 2.0 to work? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Glad to see so many Ohioans here. I'm interested in the monitor if you still have it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Let me test the Roland cable I bought. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Unless you are going to also install the Ultimate 1MB, I would say go the SIO2SD route. Without the U1M the Side2 can't act like a standard PBI device or let you mount atr disk images. For SDX, flash it on an Atarimax cart or pick up the PCB from Dropcheck (no case, but you would get the pass through connector and RTC).
  7. This is the most British thing I've ever read on AA. :-)
  8. No mention of the Atari 8-bit computer line. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Star Raiders is a diagnostic cart, which bypasses the OS.
  10. That isn't SpartaDos X (which I believe started with version 4.1 something), that's just a version of SpartaDos 3.3 on cart. I really don't know how useful that would be when you could get an AtariMax cart and have the real thing.
  11. Is there a reason why the 1090XL was cancelled? It seems to be relatively cheap to produce, and would have solved a ton of Atari's issues at the time with expandability.
  12. Wow, Michael Crick is like the Forrest Gump of technology. I'm surprised there wasn't stories of Bill Joy, Bill Gates, and Steve Jobs.
  13. Crap, I knew that! Too many dudes around here...
  14. I have one of Dropcheck's new PCBs, and it's great. Plus you get a clock. He's doing another run, I'm debating whether to upgrade my final SDX cart or not...
  15. Could the Atari joystick ports communicate with an Arduino Mini pro by directly connecting the RX/TX pins (https://www.arduino.cc/en/Main/arduinoBoardProMini)?
  16. It worked surprisingly well, I used AtariWriter for 4 or 5 years as my main word processor. Print preview would scroll to show you the page. And now with distraction free writing is all the wage, I didn't realize how far a head of the curve I was!
  17. You're not supposed to propose such great arguments for the Rapidus! Now I need to think about getting one...
  18. I liked Laser Blast on the 2600... That is, until I figured out how to play forever and then it became an exercise in tedium. Make sure it's random enough that the player won't get bored.
  19. I'm struggling with how to handle security. We're not going to do SSL on the 8-bits, so we have to have some way of authenticating users. One time passwords could be created, based on time (I don't know how accurate the Atari clock is) or some sort of challenge response.
  20. I use an old Thinkpad, set to stay running with the lid closed, placed under the monitor. Remote Desktop is turned on, so I remote in from any device ( even my phone) to set disk images. I currently use an Owncloud installation for all of my Atari related files, much like mytekcontrols above. As for the 800XL, add the Chroma line and get an svideo cable. There's a simple video upgrade in the forums that you can use until you get an UAV. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  21. The Ultimate works in an unexpanded 400, but it's too tall for the door to shut. The problem isn't any cases. If the board had a micro sd slot it would work fine. I just had an idea, I wonder if something like this would work: Spinido MicroSd Card Adapter for Macbook Air / Pro/ Retina - Black http://www.amazon.com/Spinido-MicroSd-Adapter-Macbook-Retina/dp/B013UF7BL2/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&ref_=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_SNRhxbTQPV7N1&linkCode=ll1&tag=atariage&linkId=6ef11316cd1bedba092a11db1756df58 I just ordered one. 22. I actually like the interface of Atari800. It keeps me in the 8-bit mode, I hit F1 and there are my menus and options that I can configure, all from my keyboard. Even though Altirra is a superior emulator, and I love how much work Phareon puts into it, I'm on Linux or OS X most of the time so Atari800 is my usual go to for emulator. It's an emulator, it should work like the machine it's emulating. :-) Speaking of UI, I like how we've gone full circle. Computers started with full screen applications that presented their own interface to the user, to a windowed interface with menus, back to full screen applications with their own interfaces.
  23. I had thought it would be cool to do some interactive fiction for the 8-bit. What did Infocom use to write their games back in the 80s? I found a thread that may help to create .z3 games: https://groups.google.com/forum/m/#!topic/rec.arts.int-fiction/DtiIME5UNG4 But it would be even cooler to write and compile on the 8-bit. 24. I have mine hooked up to a GBS-8220 for VGA out. The main reasons I wanted to install a VBXE was for the RGB out and 80 column mode.
