At the time of the 400/800 the price difference was huge, and 16K with a tape drive could do most of what people wanted. What's confusing is the 600xl/800xl era. There was no reason to have two models. Put the monitor port in the 600XL and sell it with 64K. At that point there was no need for a 16k model. I'm surprised the XE line even exists. Tapatalk already gives a different interface to AtariAge on mobile devices, and it looks like IP Board does offer some API methods, but I don't know how usable they would be from the 8-bit. With the Dragon Cart the Atari may be able to interface directly, but there is the problem of security. Maybe there could be some sort of sync model for BBSes, that would be able to download the new messages from AtariAge and upload any messages from the BBS. I miss Usenet....

The original sounds one seems to have a regression in the hammer collisions. I should never die standing still with the hammer, but I do. And it doesn't take out the barrels on the level above me like the regular version.

The Ultimate Cart is the most equivalent to the harmony cart. The Maxflash carts aren't bad, but they don't have all of the different modes to emulate all of the carts.

Hmm, it does work if I boot into the SIDE loader and mount it there. I could have sworn it didn't work that way before. I've tried it on a U1M/SIDE2 and an Incognito. The CF has three partitions, FAT16, APT, and FAT32.

I am probably missing something simple, but I can not get ATRs in a FAT32 partition to mount while in SDX. MATR gives me an error, althought ATRs in the FAT16 partition mount fine. What am I missing?

I'm still learning assembly, so I can't tell you if you're right, but I can recommend to use hex instead of decimal numbers. It makes things a lot easier. For example 40000 is $9C40 so the low byte is $40 and the high byte is $9C. It also makes it easier to start on 1K boundaries, such as $9000. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Maybe Atari could have had a PBI adapter with a PIA to use with the XEP80? Then it would have been faster on the PBI/ECI machines but still useable in the others. (After they fixed the bin-standard video...) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I finally flashed Altirra Basic to my U1M, and I want to play around with it. The latest version of Altirra Basic I could find was 1.48, but I think there is a 1.50 out there somewhere... Is there any documentation on some of the new commands?

I'd like to upgrade another one of my machines to the U1M/Side2 configuration, which will cost about $140. Then I started looking at the SIde 2 and realized that once the U1M is installed, I don't use most of the features of the Side 2 (RTC, SDX, Side Loader). Could a cheaper Side 2 that only offered the CF interface be created? Would it be worth it? What can I do with the 256K of cartridge space? Any way to get Action! or Mac/65 in there?

Is it possible to use Quick 2.2 with SDX? I tried to run edi. and com. from the disk image, but they just kinda don't work and then lock up or other weird stuff.

On my U1M/SIDE2 set up, I put a FAT16 partition, the APT partition, and a FAT32 partition. It seems like mounting ATRs from the FAT32 partition with the SIDE loader are read/write. Is this correct? How stable is this set up? It's pretty cool being able to run SpartaDos 3.2 and MyDOS with the SIDE2.
