  1. That's the one that could fry it. Get a replacement pack and see what that does. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. I think you'd have to compare the early micros at the time they were released: '77: Apple ][ vs... Nothing, Apple wins '79: Apple ][+ vs Atari 400/800, the Atari wins hands down. '83: Apple //e vs Atari 600xl/800xl vs C64, Apple wins. 2015: Atari 800 with the Incognito board wins. :-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Ahhh, that makes sense, thanks!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. But the case contains copyrighted and trademarked text and graphics. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. These are very, very cool, but how are they legal? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. People do it all the time with lesser machines, I just bought a new Atari 8-bit game last month. How many new games have been released for the 2600 this past year? The delusion is in thinking that a developer could support themselves with the retro community, it's just too small. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. You have to download the file, and then load it into the browser. Once you do that, it will work.
  8. The idea of a retro emulation/simulation console doesn't excite me. I already have the original hardware and a modded Xbox. What could be interesting is a new game machine, catering to 16-bit games. One route is to acquire the rights to the 3DO, and re-produce it, but use flash instead of an optical drive. Put compact flash in a cartridge and make the cartridge port a hot swappable IDE port. I could see that having some fun games to play, especially since the 3DO supported 8 players. In this scenario you really wouldn't want to mention the 3DO name because of it's failures, but it would give you a base hardware and minimize feature creep. Plus, have the pack in cartridge be a cartridge with flash and wifi that would let you connect to an online store to buy/download games, much like how the Wii works. Getting people to pay $40 for a game would be pretty tough, but downloading it for $5? Over the next year, the $9 CHIP computer will be released, which will open up all sorts of new devices. Hardware today is not a problem. Software and execution is.
  9. Does Unreal Tournament count? Looks like it came out in '99, so I guess it would! That's my favorite multiplayer FPS. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Is there anyway to turn off the "Lose changes" message when switching profiles when nothing has changed?
  11. I think this is it: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/184981-fat32-xex-loader/?p=2694685
  12. Very good to know! Where did you find it?
  13. I just bought a couple of these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/381197697994 And with some header wires I should be able to plug them in and try them out. At $4.47 a piece if they don't work it's not a big deal. :-)
  14. With the MyIDE+Flash 1 card I put FJC's myide driver into SDX and put that on the cartridge. So now I have a really nice hard drive, but I don't use it for game loading. It would be nice to have some sort of FAT32 loader, but I don't think that's possible.
  15. I think you're missing the tens of thousands of games that are available without DRM that you can easily backup and restore , and will be able to for a very long time. Digital does not mean DRM is involved I try to only buy physical copies of games or digital copies that are DRM free, the best of both worlds.
  16. If you plug a Colecovision controller in, then holding down 0 on the keypad would pass as the dongle.
  17. Now this is a project I could get behind. When's your Kickstarter? I thought the RVGS was going to be a console of its own, not just some emulation machine.
  18. From '79 - '82, there wasn't a computer that came close to the capabilities of the 8-bits. Starting in '82, the C64 entered the scene, which could put more colors on the screen but had a fixed palette, so it's arguable what had better graphics. The Apple couldn't compete until the IIgs came out. Atari was a case of too much, too early. No one knew where the computer was going, and didn't know if the home computer was a fad or not. If they had pushed in the same directions that Apple was doing with the II, Atari would have crushed Apple. But, at the time, it was the wild west. I wanted an 800XL because I wanted a computer, and we had a 2600 so the Atari name was familiar. This was '84, after the videogame crash.
  19. My game came yesterday, fantastic puzzle game! It's one of those games that you "just want to play one more time", and then an hour has passed. Best so far is 55 on easy, I've only played one game at hard, ~368 or something like that. Goz recommendation is a buy. :-)
  20. Lol, so I did have it right!
  21. Ugh, it appears to be working, except its a little flakey. When I start up fc.com to flash, B1 is blank. It doesnt say (empty), there is nothing there. I also can't set the FX Rambo core aa the default. The screen shows Bootbank: - I switch to the bank, hit B, then hit X. If I don't turn it off it boots that core. And, any try at flashing any bank results in VBXE IO error. Where ahould i start?
  22. I've been reading the Busby thread over in the Jaguar forums and went on eBay and picked up a copy for the Jag.
  23. False alarm, joey_z pointed out it could be the PAL/NTSC jumper... I could have sworn I put it on NTSC before I installed it... :-(
