  1. It was a false alarm, adding a dimension to the BYTE ARRAY fixed it, as in: BYTE ARRAY fntlist(20) It runs several times, doesn't corrupt anything. My setup is an 800/Incognito, SDX 4.47, Action! 3.6.
  2. Hmmm, I may have to play this tonight, especially since it looks like no one has beaten it yet. (The final cut scene is pretty good.)
  3. I'm trying to get a directory listing in Action!. The following appears to work once, but after that it starts to destroy the program in memory: proc getfonts() BYTE ARRAY fntlist close(2) open(2,"D:*.FNT",6,0) do inputSD(2,fntlist) printE(fntlist) until EOF(2)#0 od return What am I doing wrong?
  4. I thought BCD was used because the 6502 had a BCD mode. The 6502 Wikipedia page mentions that Atari Basic was about the only place it was used.
  5. I started setting up my Gateway 2000 from '94, and can't find my Ensoniq sound card. :-( I did replace the hard drive with a Transcend IDE module, which quieted the machine immensely.
  6. It seems that you would need to keep the bottom plate, but the top shield could be removed. I'll dig into an 800, but I wanted to make sure it wasn't a technical issue.
  7. Does the 800 need to keep the shield?
  8. I think the base model would probably be enough for a majority of people, especially if it comes at a low cost. What sort of price difference is there between 64K and 1088K? A device like this that would make the 400 more useful would be very nice for the 8-bit computer hobby. Plus the 400/800 models will probably outlive all of the other models. In fact, they would be the only models standing after an EMP. Any chance of remapping the joystick ports 3 & 4 to some other locations when in XL mode?
  9. That is a plus. :-) Although I do the same with SIO2PC-USB except I use ownCloud (could use Dropbox or Google Drive). The laptop on my Atari syncs my Atari8 folder, so whenever I see something I want to try I just save it to my Atari8 directory and it will automatically be synced. This is also where I keep Altirra, so all of my files, disk images, etc. are always in sync with all of my devices and Ataris.
  10. Slight re-order :-): IDE+ 2.0 Ultimate 1MB/Side 2 SIO2SD Ape/AspeQT (with an SIO2PC-USB adapter) From a price/ease of use standpoint: AspeQT and SIO2PC-USB adapter (<$20, make your own with a FTDI chip for even cheaper) SIO2SD ($25 without case or cable, $65 with case and cable) Ape ($60 for USB, $35 for RS232) U1M/Side 2 ($80) IDE+ 2.0 ($??) I don't understand the usability of the SIO2BT. It's a neat hack, but in the end it's not more useful than the SIO2SD which is cheaper.
  11. I thought of this, but decided against it because that sounds like an Apple product, the i800.
  12. Trying to figure out what to call my Atari 800 with an Incognito...
  13. I'm thinking about trying something like a Rogue® 60W 6 Port USB Desktop Rapid Charger. Intelligent USB Wall Charger (http://amzn.com/B00NOIY44I) for all of the 5V devices. Just need to create some USB cables. Next would be to find a way to power the 9V AC devices...
  14. And mine came Friday! Thanks Candle! Started the install last night, hopefully I'll get a chance to finish this weekend.
  15. Or be sadistic and set the Option key to be pause. :-)
  16. I can at least help you with the <return> issue. The Atari EOL character is different in than ASCII, so if you put the term emulation to vt-52 that should fix that issue. I would recommend Ice-T terminal emulator, but that isn't going to work on the 800.
  17. The AtariMax carts can be flashed from USB with the USB programmer: http://atarimax.com/flashcart/documentation/ There is also adapters available to allow you to dump cartridges you own.
  18. When I installed it in my 1200XL, I followed each CPU pin until I found a pad on the motherboard, and then made my solder connections there. I didn't want to solder directly to the CPU.
  19. You hit A for enhanced density, which gives you a 130K disk instead of hitting Y to format it which should have given you a DD disk since you set it as a DD disk. :-)
  20. I'm thinking about installing one of my bare SIO2SDs into my XF551 that's been converted to a 3.5" drive. There is space for it at the front on top of the drive, so the display will poke through the top and the SD can be access right about the floppy. I've got a couple of questions: What can I use to fabricate buttons? I would like it to sort of look stock. I'm thinking of re-painting the entire drive. It has bad yellowing where looks like it sat directly in the sun, but had a book or something on the front half, so it's two different shades. Plus the 3.5" drive doesn't match the beige faceplate, which doesn't match the case. What's the best way to paint the whole thing? I usually use it with a 1200XL or 800XL, but it may change to using it with my Atari 800 once my Incognito arrives, so the color and buttons probably should reflect the 800 colors... :-) Can I solder the 5 wires directly onto the SIO plugs? Or is there a better way to wire it in?
  21. Be sure to check out the whole story about the Punta Cana installation: http://www.atarimuseum.com/otherprojects/alan/clubmed-alank.pdf Fascinating.
  22. I do have one, which I really like. Is anyone selling them right now? An IDE+ 3.0 with 512K memory upgrade and flashable OS would be a really nice upgrade for most people, since it would be plug and play. But this is getting way off topic in the Altirra 2.6 thread... :-)
  23. But the Incognito is in pretty short supply, I've been waiting 16 months for mine. And it still requires installation. A true pass through, flash updateable, SDX cart with RTC would be a pretty nice thing to have. Kind of like the SIDE2 except with a cart connector instead of compact flash. Although I don't know how well SDX works with only 64K (but there are plug and play memory upgrades too).
  24. The biggest obstacle to wider adoption of SD is the lack of a pass through cart option. It would be nice to see a new pass through cart with built in RTC. But maybe that isn't a big issue anymore?
