Yes the quality is top notch.
I did have to modify mine a smidge. One of the EPROMs was too close to the edge and was not allowing it to close all the way. But a little dremmeling and it was all good.
I ordered an sio2pc but like a bonehead I ordered the wrong one. No biggie I just ordered the correct one. Keeping the other one for a friend.
Great job! -
In just checked and it looks like it was a bad Atari to usb cable all along.
-
Ok. I will get some pics sometime this weekend. I didn’t hear any pops or magic smoke but that doesn’t mean anything.

I have a 130xe that I think may have had the power rails on the power supply reversed. So basically the 5v went to ground and the ground went to 5v.
Beside toasting the whole machine what would be the result in this case?
I haven’t started diagnosising it but wanted a vague idea where I should start looking for dead components.
Thanks.

I guess I am one of the few on the east coast that will be going to vcf-east.
Anyone else going to East this year?

Thanks a lot. I watched the video. Nice demo. It really looks like a great tool for the non-atascii limited sysops!
look forward to the docs!
great work.

I was playing around with your files.
I am know your haven’t been working on it but i am trying to get my head around it.
Is there a way of taking my own bbs files and running it through your app? Or is it just the demo files that you can save with all the ansi and throw in a text editor and edit the text part to suit your needs?
Thanks. Sorry it this is a dumb question. -
Thanks. I saw your post of fb this morning and going to play Around with it later today.

Depending on how much you're willing to spend, an OSSC really can't be beat for getting an ST/STe to display via HDMI. You can use a VGA switch to output all three resolutions to an OSSC via VGA. If you don't plan to use high resolution, the Cool Novelties RGB SCART cable can't be beat. It only works for the color modes, but low and medium resolution are absolutely crystal clear and beautiful.
You can pickup an OSSC from videogameperfection for about $135 USD plus shipping. The Cool Novelties RGB SCART cables are about $24 apiece. You need to specify whether you need one for ST or STE.
Yup. I got an OSSC. It works great on color. I just haven’t gotten it dialed in on hi res. But i doubt I will be doing anything on hi res. -
Hate to bump an old thread but was this ever released?
-
Yeah I fooled with all the settings on the ossc and the tv and it never really cleared up. I am sure it is an easy fix but I foresee very few time I need to pop into hi res I can pull out my straight vga to hdmi cable. That seems to work pretty well for hi res.
-

Lots of noise on the desktop but the windows are pretty clean. -

Might be hard to tell but this is a pic of the output from the ossc.
I will do a hi-res pic next time I go and work on the st. -
Does anyone have an Atari st profile for the ossc?
-
I could be wrong but I think I read Atari uses 18 sectors per track 18*40 tracks =720
So I would think it would be 18x77 (x2 if double sided)
1386 per side?
That would be my guess. Or boot up Sparta dos in an emulator and try formatting a 77 track disk image with xinit.-

Feel free to try it out. Note: It's on the WiModem232 now, so make sure you try syncterm with a raw connection.

/s Lol. You know how many emails I have typed with that lately? Hahaha

Ah. I broke down and bought an OSSC. I am sure I can find other uses for it. I tried one of the cheaply vga-hdmi converters. I didn’t have much hope but sometimes those Chinese boxes do surprise me.
Let yaw’ll know how I make out. -
Funny thing. The 2nd Atr I got a few months ago. It came with cp/m (and I think Atari) 8inch disks!
I posted a pic of them on one of the other atr-8000 threads.
I actually use the 720k 3.5 inch drive that came internal to my STF and an old Mitsubishi 360k (the ones with the push button to release the disk) on my Atr.
I have at least 4 dead drives that are used as bookends. If anyone wants them just let me know. All you have to do is pay for shipping.
I really would love to find the white face Mitsubishi 720k 5.25 drives. That is what my bbs ran on for a very long time. But I think I have seen 1 of those pop up on eBay and it was in unworking condition. I have a enough bookends. Lol.
Oh by the way if anyone has an extra blanking plate from a Percom drive (the metal piece to covert the circuit board) I would be interested in it. My RFD44-s2 is missing one.
I know it was taken off for ventilation (it had. Monster size noisy fan bolted to the back) but I am not running my drives for more than an hour or so, so heat really isn’t that big of a concern.-

Would love to know how you really go about doing that step by step. I assume I'd need to boot off a different disk/drive first with mydos and configure the 1.2MB drive that way first? I haven't used a lot of drive combos other than standard 5.25" DD drives with the PERCOM or ATR8000 in the past, so this is new to me.
Like I said I have never done it but my guess would be, boot into spartados 3.x or sdx with a regular drive. Then run either xinit or format and choose the 77 tracks and it should work.
At least that is how I would go about it if I was to do it.
I am not 100% on the mydos side of format but I think you would have to manually set the drive parameters as a 77 track drive before formatting it.-

I did burn my rfd44 rom and it is in my rfd40. I don’t have a double sided drive in it but otherwise it works fine.
-
I think I have read somewhere that you can use it with the atr-8000 and you need to format it as an 8inch drive. (77 tracks). I think that gives you close to 1meg on the disk but I have never done it.

That is kind of what I guessed but my translation guru is a little rusty. Lol.
I just thought it was weird when it popped up the other day.
I agree I hope he can keep up his “franchises” quality high.
