I was talking about this weird post I saw a few days ago. I am still not 100% sure on how it affects buyers or if it affects them at all.
-
Yup you are right. My rfd indicated 1.20 on it.

The st monitor does work My neck a bit which is why I am really trying to find a solution to get it on the tv. But till I do it works. It fits perfectly in those ikea shelves. Yup. That is the last bit of lotharek candy. I got some from the guy who I got the fujinet from but I gave that to my wife. My wimodem is supposed to be here tomorrow. I hope it doesn’t get delayed. If it does I will have to work on installing my ps5 into my ent center. The entertainment center isn’t as tight on space as my Atari desk is. Lol. -

STF - VGA - HDMI/Component

Thanks. Yeah I know it is really hit and miss with those things. I’ll see what pans out from the one I ordered and keep trying til I find a good one. -
STF - VGA - HDMI/Component

I took a chance on one of those cheapies on Amazon. Give it a try. If it doesn’t work I will send it back. I am not looking for perfect picture just something useable. I just need to dig up a vga cable. I know I must have one laying around somewhere. -

Well taking Alberts advice and modifying it a smidge here is what I came up with. I couldn’t put the st in the drives even if I want to as the monitor cable for the st isn’t long enough to reach where the 1224 is. Everything is hooked up more or less. The Percom drives do not like to play nice with other sio peripherals so they are segregated but I just have to switch sio plugs and they are up and running. All my drives are individually powered on my that power strip so I don’t have to move everything to turn on the drives. oh. Yeah the bottom atr isn’t connected but I do have power going to it. -
Hi all, It has been quite a long time since I played with my ST but I am getting the bug to pull it out again. One of the reasons to put it on the back burners was it’s inability to output to a modern LCD tv. I have a 1224 and that is great but I would love to get it on my tv I use for all my other Atari goodies. Being an STF it has no rf so that was always an issue. Back a number of years ago I got a hold of a box from Sal Esquivel that pushed the STF to component. Well, this box was extremely picky on what TVs it would work on. I ended up getting a smaller Sharp television that worked with it but then I read that that box may have been causing damage to the ST itself. So I am revisiting this again. Looks like some things have changed since I last attempted this. I see there is a little board that connects to the st monitor port and outputs vga. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Open-Source-Intelligent-Atari-ST-STE-video-port-adapter-/303920722396?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286 It claims to work on all ST models including the STF. It still only outputs a 15khz signal. This has been the crux of the issue. Would a box like the Retro-tink/ossc box be able to upscale the signal to a kHz my tv can display? I am not overly worried about Hi-res just low and medium. Or is there another option for my dilemma? If I am still out of luck I will just use my 1224. Does anyone know where I can get a nice extra long monitor cable? thanks for any help! craig

Ok. I have been threatening to post this for a few days. Does anyone have any ideas how I can reorganize this desk in order to add a 1040 st but keeping everything on it that is already there?
-
I did not know about problems either. But a few years ago I was at VCF East talking to one of the people with an Atari display. I can’t remember his name but we were talking bbs and I mentioned how FoReM would crash from time to time and he mentioned that was because of the 850. He said there was a problem in the firmware/rom. Before that I had no clue. But I think in another 85o thread here they were talking about the shortcomings of the 850 software. Maybe it was The Doctor…. Since these people know wayyyyy more than I I just took it as gospel.
-
oops. sorry about that. here is the rom file. 2CF990B9.ROM

Hi all, hate to bring this thread back from the dead, but I just dumped my 850 rom and was wondering if anyone could tell me if it is the corrected rom or it is one of the revisions that had issues. Any help appreciated. 850rom.atr
-
Here is an ATR of my 850 Rom. Ill post this in the other 850 rom thread. If anyone knows can tell what revision I have it would be greatly appreciated. 850rom.atr
-
Where are you from?
-
Thanks all. I was able to read the rom. I had to save it to a real floppy. I didn’t have any virtual d1: set up. I will upload it in a little while to see if it is new or just a copy of these roms floating around.
-
This is so weird I was just looking up this thread the other day to see if I could dump my rom or to determine if I have the most up to date rom or not. All my chips are around the end of 1981 and the beginning of 1982. I can’t remember when the 850 was discontinued but I am guessing probably not too much past 1982. If I popped this on my tl866 what model of chip should I use?

I was there a few years ago. I didn’t find anything good except a book on another subject. I don’t foresee much Atari hardware really showing up there. But you never know.
-
Besides the Atari, think about how much those two boxes cost to ship!

These were most likely bots. But over about a week the ip addresses repeat so I’m not sure what the situation is. But I do like the pfsense idea. I’ll have to look into it.

I don't know if anyone cares, but I started a little text file of suspected Hacker IP addresses. I culled these addresses from the Busy BBS output. I checked the country of origin and they are china, Russia and Turkey. I just downloaded the log from busy bbs from the past few days, I still need to go through it but I am hoping not too many hacker ips are on it. I have since then blocked the IP addresses in the windows firewall. Feel free to add to the list or use the list for your own bbs. Maybe at some point we can format it nicely and put it somewhere, where sysops of all kinds can contribute to it, but for now, it is just a bare bones text files with the info needed. Blocked IPs.txt

There are docs included in the ATR, but I think if you go to Southern Amis's website and download it, he has it just as a zip file with all the files loose so you don't need an ATR viewer to extract the docs.
