  1. Recently discovering Ice-t and a great pic out of my sophia2 130xe I have been doing a bunch of bbsing with “t”.

however it seems to not like Sparta dos x. Has anyone gotten it to work properly on SDX?  When I use sdx and I log on to an ansi color bbs it spits out garbage. As seen on the pic I attached.

works perfect with mydos but sdx seems to be an issue.

just thought I would ask Incase I have a setting wrong.

  2. One more time. I know this one works because I loaded it right from my tnfs server and got to the login screen.

I have to run now but I will check to see if all files are good when I get home.

I did a disk wiz 2 copy of the original to another real floppy then went into to sd x and used scopy from the sd3.2 disk to make a copy of the new disk I made (which I check to see if it worked) to a blank 90k image on the Fuji.

  3. I put the fixed atr on my tnfs server. For some reason when I originally uploaded it I tried to copy it with the fujinet from my Sd card to my tnfs server and it didn’t copy correctly. I didn’t realize it until jp told me.

I did arc the files and uploaded them to my bbs and the basement.

i also uploaded the fixed atr here.

now getting it to work. That’s another issue.

  4. I am not 100% following this thread but I was testing my mss100 a few years ago as and outgoing modem and an incoming modem for a real hardware bbs. I do remember there was one setting i had to change to answer calls and change that setting back to make calls. Here are the pics of my settings.

I think it was the access setting I was always flip flopping.

  5. I am pretty sure it is in the box with all that other software I got. I am pretty sure that is one of the few disks that were recovered from my parents attic.

I don’t think I paid too much attention to it as it was for mpp/Supra modems.

I’ll go down and dig it out and see the condition the disk is in. If I can recover it I will upload it here and on my tnfs server.

  6.
Imagination says: "(It's) just an illusion!"  - and its untrue!

Of course the 512k RAM can be used in an XE. If the XE already has XRAM (e.g. a 130XE) then the Sys-Check will simply disable it.

Ok. Thanks. I can’t for the life of me remember where I saw that or what it was in reference to. I just didn’t want to blow the sychek up right after I got it.lol

    Thanks for the info!

  7. Congrats on the 600xl finally showing up.

I jumped the gun when my xe was acting flaky and the guy in oregon didn’t have any 800xls. He had 600xls. I should have just got one of those. Oh well Live and Learn.

Glad it showed up for you. Now time for the fun to really start.

  8. I am grasping at straws here. But I sent the developer of atariMacx and email to see if there is a stand alone version of the r: handler for atariMacx. I was wondering if by loading that separately (like the rhnd850 from Altirra) might help. I am sure it won’t but just a theory I had. I did look in the app package contents, I didn’t see any Sep file for any type of handlers so I am sure they are implemented into the code.

  9. Ha. I think I may have figured out the stalling. Seems like it might be the key buffer. When I set that to off I don’t seem to have any stalling. Now I haven’t tested it beyond FoReM image but it seems to be working.

On Sparta 3.2d is there a way to turn the key off before anything else starts?

Also, I have both an side2 and 3 cart. Haven’t been doing too much with them but I was having a hell of a time with fujinet and the carts.

I followed the video and threads on how to get to the fuji after spdx boots but I kept getting errors. Which I found odd since I was able to accomplish this before. I tried changing the config option back to boot config all the time on the web setting and it started working again. Now maybe I can really play around with my side carts.

I apologize if this was common knowledge I just discovered it.

  10. Oh also I had a hell of a time to get the image to run smoothly from my Sd card in fujinet. It kept stalling and I had to move it over to my sio2sd to boot it smoothly.

I have the sio speed set to 9 which is the slowest. Does anyone know why Spartados has this issue?  Similar thing happens when I try to run the bobterm image using spartados. In order to get it to continue I need to hit the break key every time it stalls.

  11. Thanks for the help and info. I was referring to one of the included docs for installation. I must have missed the bases subdir

I didn’t really work too far with the Mac emulator. Yesterday when I popped it in atarimacx right before I uploaded it here, i got the same problem. I am not sure what r: handler to use.  It seems like the phorem autorun.sys will get the r: handler working but that one doesn’t seems to be 100% compat with forem xep.

I just re-installed Atarimacx for the first time in years so I am still trying to get my bearings with it. So I am not 100% sure how the r: works in atarimacx vs Altirra.

  12. Well I made a little progress with XEPro.  I got it to boot up on real hardware to the point where the status window comes up.

However, it appears the Initialize BBS routine has an issue.  It doesn't write anything to the disk, be it real disk, sd card, or emulator.  I think if we can get this to possibly init the bbs we can take another step on getting it to run on real and emulated hardware.

What I did to get it to run on real hardware: I deleted the autorun.sys (actually I just renamed it). and created a startup.bat file that loads the RHND850.Com from the modem programs disk, then loads the Amp850.com (I don't know if this is necessary but I did it anyway), then load in the zhand.com, finally drop to Car and Run d1:start.

from here the bbs will start until looks for the message bases and config.dat which are supposed to be written from the InitBBS program.  But isn't.

None of my disks were write protected or anything.  Obviously, I didn't get it running on atarimac x due to the r:handler issue.  I am not sure what we can do about that, but first and foremost I am trying to run it on real hardware.  Here is the atr I have been working with.  See if anyone has any clue what the problem with initbbs program.

I have two atrs. I don't know which is which so I just uploaded them both.

It crashes on me also. Maybe FoReM XEP and PHoReM XE are trying to load up different settings?

Ok. Well I guess it wasn’t just me. I did try loading the amp850 but when I did that it wouldn’t find the handler. Ok. As long as it wasn’t just me. I will probably take that image on my real hardware and see what happens.

    thanks for your help.

    @moonlight_mile

No problem.  Glad it worked. 👍

While I have your attention, can you take a look at this form yep image and see what I am missing.  When I type 0 to run forum it loads and eventually crashes the emulator.  I kinda copied what you did for PhoRem but I am not sure what is missing.XEP disks 1-3BBS copy.atr

I have tried loading the Amp850 but when I run that the forem start programs tells me to load the r: handler.

    Any help appreciated!
