  1. Way back on the 1st page of this thread I mentioned I had gotten a hold of a new-in-box CC-40, but was hoping for storage and memory expansion solutions. Looks like some headway had been made, but has now stalled. Just posting to see if there is still work being done on this front for it. Thanks to all who've worked on it so far!
  2. Thanks for the information! I should have mentioned this is a U.S. machine. I knew there was some difference and it is the volume slider. Mine has the"Solid State Software" badge on it so it's definitely not the short run version. Not sure if it's the original power supply. It's a model AC95000 with the plug on a large cube transformer. It's been so long since I used a TI. I gave away both of my 4As along with a loaded PEB, speech synthesizer, joysticks, tape drive, plus tons of add-ons, software and documentation/magazines back in 2010 and wish I had them back!
  3. I could swear I had read a discussion here some time ago about there being two versions of the first TI Home Computer, the TI-99/4 but can't seem to find it anywhere. I am asking because I've recently gotten a hold of one of these, but am waiting on a cable to arrive in order to hook it up to a modern display in order to find out if it even still works. I'm just curious to know what was different between the two if indeed there were two versions of it. Unfortunately the one in my possession had the serial number scratched off of it so it may be impossible to determine which one I have. I think it would be based on the serial number matching up to the production run. Regardless, if someone could confirm or deny that there were two different 4's, I'd greatly appreciate it.
  4. While not a 100% Rogue clone, it's pretty close, if I do say so myself: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/275159-grail-of-the-gods-a-compiled-xb-rogue-like-game-finalized/
  5. Yes, here's the Mobygames entry for it: https://www.mobygames.com/game/atari-8-bit/turmoil And I had always wondered if it was some sort of play on Mark's last name, kinda like how Curly from The Three Stooges would say it: "Ay, you're dat Mark Turmoil guy!"
  6. I have a SCART cable which I use in conjunction with a SCART-to-HDMI converter. Do you know if this monitor would work with an Amiga which outputs RGB at 15KHz if I used just the SCART cable to connect to the monitor? I looked at a site that says it has partial compatibility (SCART, not VGA), but wanted to verify from someone who may actually own one and has used it with an Amiga.
  7. He had this up around November 21st at the same price BUT used the ebay gimmick of discounting it 99% to sell for $2. No idea if anyone bought it even at that price.
  8. Turmoil and Fast Eddie - two great 2600 games written by legendary (in my view, anyway) programmer Mark Turmell. He was behind many of my favorite games of the 80s and 90s - from Beer Run and Sneakers on the Apple ][, to NBA Jam, Smash TV, and Wrestlemania: The Arcade Game in the arcade. He was a dude after my own heart, throwing in a pretty good sense of humor in most of the projects he worked on. https://www.giantbomb.com/mark-turmell/3040-16331/credits/
  9. Your mentioning Kinkos reminded me of this Chappelle's show classic, and if you're lucky, you may just be able to stream this and Dilbert on the TacoBox! (spoiler - 3.5" floppy disc sighting in this bit) https://youtu.be/zR7LOtMix9w
  10. The launch video makes it look and sound as if the thing was already designed and ready to go (the specs, the exploded view, the guy from Broadcom wearing one, the non-at-all simulated watch display with PONG playing by itself), they just needed some help, as FMac states, bringing it to production (i.e. to have it mass produced). And since it uses the ATARI name with Atari arcade games playable on it (optimized for playing on the watch... whatever that means) as apparently its big selling point, who wouldn't want it? Ya know - because like you, they're gamers using scooters to jump over mushrooms and being chased by spiders, just like in the Atari game Centipede! I know I can't wait to play 720 Degrees on it! Just gotta wonder how it will be "watch optimized" to use that unique rotating joystick and both kick and jump buttons. But hey, why bore you with details, amirite?! Then when you watch the video again, it seems like what's really being said is that you can use this (maybe you've heard of it before) super-spiffy micro-SD card to save your games to it, put it in the watch (as opposed to placing it in just about anything else), then hop on yer bike or skateboard (SKATE OR DIE) or scooter, head on over to your best bud's house, kick him off his PC and continue playing your favorite game on HIS machine while ordering him to GO GIT ME SOME TACOS, YOU CONSARN SLACKER! And not only that, you can also listen to music on it (just like your phone, or mp3 player, or car stereo, or...) and check your email on it (again, just like your phone). And if we can scam your out of some more money get enough money backing this thing, we might even include a programmable garage door opener as an additional feature. There's almost no limit to the add-ons we might add if we get enough cash! New corporate motto: WE'VE GOT THE CURE THAT'S JUST LOOKIN' FOR A DISEASE
  11. Hmm... The same guy behind the VCS initially was also the guy behind the Gameband. I'm sure it's just a coincidence. https://youtu.be/YCmjmFgHvyM I remember getting an email from Atari on the Gameband when it was officially announced and even then, I was wondering (as a guy who is 6' 6") how I could possibly play retro games on a 1.6" screen, or for that matter, WHY I would want to even bother trying when I have a RPi with RetroPie on it which I can hook up to my 40" flatscreen and use an actual controller with buttons to play all Atari 2600 games plus dozens of other consoles' games, in addition to arcade, DOS, and SCUMM games, to name a few, for much less than what I'd pay for a Gameband that wasn't even available, and of course, still isn't and appears to now be officially cancelled. Sure, I can't strap it to my wrist, but again, how practical is playing retro games on a touch screen that's not much bigger than a postage stamp?
  12. I'm running the latest version (jump18a) and find it far too difficult to control. It's a pretty neat concept, but he falls far too quickly in addition to being too sensitive when pressing left/right. It makes it very difficult to time the jumps properly. My high score is 8 after 20 or so tries.
  13. Looks pretty cool to me. It reminds me of a cross between the arcade game Berzerk and the Apple ][ game Crossfire. It would be really cool if you could fire with the second joystick like in Robotron or the VP+ game Flashpoint. If there is room for more features, maybe adding an enemy who appears every so often (either at random or if you are taking too long on the level - like Berzerk's Evil Otto) which chases you without shooting at you, but that you can destroy (unlike Evil Otto). I'm always impressed with your creations. Thanks for another neat homebrew!
  14. It truly blows my mind that people will actually pirate a niche product such as this. Programming the O2 is no easy feat and considering the what-must-now-be very small universe of physical O2/VP cartridge collectors that remain, how much do they really think they are going to make off of your hard work? I mean, counterfeiting $1 bills might be more profitable, although admittedly more risky. So sorry that scumbags have to ruin it for everyone and especially for authors like you who are few and far between for this platform.
  15. Here's one where they unbox a pristine looking stand-alone ADAM and show gameplay of DK Jr. https://youtu.be/9U39muxNdJs
  16. There is also a 15% off code (PICKFAST) that is good until 8 PM EST. Don't let this one slip away - ORDER NOW!!!
  17. I'm seeing on Amazon a number of (pretty obviously made-in-China) retro gaming consoles selling for around $60-$90, listing 800+ or even 3000+ games which use SD cards for even further ROM additions. While they don't play the really old ones like Atari, ColecoVision, Intellivision, etc., they do appear to play games starting at the third generation of gaming consoles, like NES, SNES, Genesis/MegaDrive, GB/GBA/GBC, Neo-Geo, SMS and GameGear. The company I see that is offering it is called ANBERIC. Reviews so far are pretty decent. Just wanted to mention it since it seems like people are looking for a reasonably priced machine that plays multiple systems. Of course, I have my Raspberry Pi 3 along with RetroPie which can do all of this (and in addition, I like the cheat systems that are available), but for someone looking to simply get up and running quickly with a wide variety of retro systems, these appear to be decent choices. I'm not endorsing any of them personally since I don't own any of them, but am thinking of taking a chance on one of them. And of course, if anyone here happens to have gotten a hold of any of these, please let us know your experience. And to tie this back into the (lack of an) Atartbox/Atari VCS/Atari Vaporware Computer System subject - how pathetic is it that a supposedly real company can't even make a working prototype available, yet a small independent group like CollectorVision has come up with a Plan B to get their "Vision" into the hands of Retro Gamers when their Kickstarter didn't pan out? And, hey, check it out! There's actually a working prototype with listed specs, a way to use actual CV carts, and even the prospect of adding additional platforms in the future thanks to an FPGA. It even plays Atari 2600 games. This sure does seem a lot more promising that what Atari (in name only) has come up with in 17 months since its announcement. http://atariage.com/forums/topic/284836-collectorvision-phoenix-pre-order-is-now-live/
  18. Thanks for that, Greg. My issue was that I had it set to use FileZilla's Anonymous login which apparently sends a password which the site doesn't like. I had to set it up with a username of anonymous but with no password, which then connects to the site successfully.
  19. Thanks, Omega, but I was wanting to use FileZilla so I could update my last complete download of the WHTech site without having to download everything. Also, still curious if the toxic-instruments FTP site is still online, which is what my initial post was about. Sorry if I didn't make that clear in the original post.
  20. I was actually referring to Schmitzi's FTP. I get a timeout after it doesn't connect. I also can't seem to login to the WHTech FTP either using FileZilla. It used to allow anonymous connection, but now it requests a password.
  21. I used to be able to connect to the WHTech FTP site using FileZilla. When I try now using the Anonymous sign-in, it's requesting a password. Does anyone know if connecting with an FTP client been disabled?
  22. Is your FTP site still active? I am in the process of switching to a new PC and am cleaning up my FileZilla site list. I am currently unable to connect to it. toxic-instruments.com - connection times out
  23. Okay, so, they made an announcement that there is going to be an announcement. This is typical Pink Sheets "buy the news" shenanigans to try and tempt people to buy their stock and hopefully bump up the price so they (the company) can sell some of what they hold.
  24. I see you can also buy them from him individually for 25 pounds. And if you're in the market for REFURBISHED TI joysticks, it will only cost you 78 pounds.
  25. First time playing through - no idea how I did so well. Difficult to control (lag) when it gets to the 5th level. I understand why it does this, that being the limitations of TI BASIC scanning the keyboard, updating the screen and playing sounds. Fun little game. Looked like Vanguard when I first saw it, and still seems a bit like that now that I've played it, just not with the 4-way firing. Would have made an impressive type-in program in COMPUTE or 99er back in the day! Very nice work~!
