  1. Was just watching that video again. not calling bullshit but his leg starts to look odd around 1:17. I was trying to see where the mouse cord went and noticed it. I was thinking maybe his laptop was under the table and they tried to edit it out of the video cause it showed up by accident. but that really wouldn't make sense as they could have just re-shot it so maybe its just his pants. but the mouse cable doesnt seem to be going into the console. edit: its just his pants. nevermind
  2. Maybe he's been spending all this time reverse engineering windows 98 to run an ARM
  3. For those without facebook, He was replying to a post made by BunnyBoy, then BunnyBoy replied back with this: I feel bad for RETRO VGS that your hardware guys are lying to you. Like kevtris I have also done an FPGA console, including all the tooling for a finished consumer product. The proof of concept board that ran NES carts with HDMI output was ~$1k and you don't even have that. How much you think Sony spends makes no difference, they don't need crowd funding. http://www.retrousb.com/images/AVSdev.jpg He also edited that response with more We are light years ahead of them. We have invested in and have in hand the console shell, we have a tried-and-true team of industry hardware guys who have worked on consumer hardware and software in the past. We have legit developers already working with us to bring games. We have suppliers and contract manufacturers set up and ready to start producing "real" consumer prototypes and finished products. The list goes on and on. We aren't hiding the fact that we don't have a prototype and the facts are making a prototype is very expensive. Do you think Sony prototypes a new piece of hardware for a ew thousand dollars? It takes tens of thousands if not hundreds of thouandsto do it right and that is what we are prepared to do. The design we've working on has been almost a year in the making and we could prototype quickly if we could afford to do it. Simple as that. Making a board to sell in forums as an unfinished and unregulated product is no fair comparison.
  4. wonder if this is a sign they are getting ready to pull the plug
  5. Not a huge Pat the Punk fan, but he just put up some videos about that pretty much say what most are saying here: that support from the "media" looks like its not going to happen
  6. My guess is if by some miracle the RetroVGS actually happens, Retro magazine is going to turn into almost all coverage on the RetroVGS.
  7. this is pretty funny too: John Carlsen "To clarify: The switch to Indiegogo was never a "last-minute change". We negotiated for months and made the decision weeks in advance, but we dragged our feet in announcing the change. That's why it seemed sudden: We were a little overwhelmed by the amount we've been doing, and slipped up on getting the word out faster." They were making announcements left and right about all kinds of meaningless stuff, but this important tidbit they forgot about somehow.
  8. I would like to know about this post on facebook: RETRO VGS Trevor, we don't have the many thousands of dollars to create our prototype. That is why we are here now trying to raise funds. You can't prototype something like this for a few thousand dollars despite what you have read and are lead to believe. Once funded you will see real working prototypes come together relativey soon. From what they said before, they bought the Jaguar moulds and covered the cost of them already by selling the clear shells on here. I thought the moulds cost "many thousands of dollars" also. Why did they not reinvest that money into a prototype? Just seems to me that they don't have faith in their own system and dont want to risk their money.
  9. Some "retro" controllers were pretty bad imho like the Atari 5200, intelivision, etc. Maybe they went with a crappy controller to keep with the retro style.
  10. Yeah. I definitely think kevtris' system would sell well.
  11. wonder if the stretch goal is needed for the cartage adapters. i see no mention of those, but the stretch goal talks about recreating old systems.
  12. its live now: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/retro-vgs#/story looks like not much (if any) new info and no way its going to meet this goal: 1,950,000 USD goal
  13. Can you let us know what it clears up. No way I'm listening to an hour and a half podcast.
  14. yeah, that controller looks to be just a generic wii pro controller so not much they had to do really.
  15. definitely no prototype: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=179174456&postcount=1151 "There is a lot of work and expense to prototype a consumer product and to do it right. Our team is confident that the architecture and circuit design they have spent almost a year on will work as planned. We have been fortunate to already have the shell and cartridge prototypes and controller prototypes all in hand and that is a large part of this venture. We have established relationships with the largest electronics distributors in the country and have a local contract PCBA manufacturer ready and waiting to start producing. The prototyping of the console electronics itself will come together soon after we are funded."
  16. He posted his justification here: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=179171474&postcount=1145 seems like he abandoned trying to justify it here in this thread. also seems to say its going to be fixed funding.
  17. Are you able to tell what type of funding they chose on the page when it goes live? If they choose flexible, be very careful if you fund it. https://support.indiegogo.com/hc/en-us/articles/205138007-Funding-Can-I-Keep-My-Money- Funding: Can I Keep My Money? Indiegogo is the only crowdfunding platform where you have the option to keep all your funds even when your campaign does not reach its goal. Flexible Funding: Keep Your Money No Matter What Choose flexible funding if any amount of money will help you reach your campaign objective and you’ll still be able to fulfill your perks. Flexible funding is suitable for almost all the campaigns on Indiegogo. With flexible funding, you keep all funds, even if you do not meet your goal! Fixed Funding: Keep Your Money Only If You Meet Your Goal If flexible funding doesn’t seem right for you and you have a strict go/no-go threshold, you can run a fixed funding campaign instead. With a fixed funding campaign, you only keep the funds you raise if you meet your funding goal. If your campaign does not meet its goal by its deadline, all contributions will be refunded back to the contributors by Indiegogo within 3-5 business days. Choose fixed funding only if your campaign objective requires a minimum amount of money to be accomplished, and if you cannot fulfill your perks without raising the full goal amount. Choose your funding structure wisely, as it cannot be changed once you launch your campaign.
  18. Nevermind, bad reading comprehension. probably for international orders in Europe. I skimmed over the part about their website also taking orders.
  19. Just saw BlueBMW post this also over at pcenginefx. i didnt bother to read the rest of the faq How can I buy a console and games when they’re available? The RETRO VGS will be sold initially via a Summer 2015 Indiegogo campaign. At the conclusion of the campaign we will continue to take pre-orders on our website and on FunStock.co.uk. More retail options to be announced. Finished consoles will be delivering in the order purchased beginning mid 2016. wonder why they are using a website in the UK? Seems to be a bit odd.
