Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I should have done it under load, but I really dont want to have to take the console apart again as I had a hard time getting it back together last time. I will take a look at the caps. I dont really need the supply, but it would be nice to have a backup.
edit:
pulled it apart and c1 and c2 had leaked. Did not check the smaller ones yet but they look ok at 1st glance.

I bought a roller controller and it came with a power supply. It does not power on my system (no video output) for some reason though. The led that I installed on the 5v line is working fine, but the blue led on my atarimax cart only flashes for a second and then turns off. The led should flash and then flash for a bit longer when its reading the SD card. I also tried a real Donkey Kong cartridge and had no video output either.
I measured the power supply and all 3 voltages are present so I'm thinking it must not be putting out enough current. Has anyone had this happen before and know what component needs replacing in the power supply?
thanks

Not sure I would go so far as to say the GDEMU is obsolete now. This new one by MNEMO has some nice features like the menu and usb. It looks like it can only load gdi images though where the gdemu can load gdi, cdi, and iso. Maybe MNEMO will come out with some updates though.

Do you have any other consoles working with the mini to make sure your euro adapter is ok?
I think Best Electronics will ship to the UK. Shipping may be a bit pricey, but the official cable definitely works.
-
how about these 10ft cables:
I think they should fit in the port. Cut one in half and you have 2 cables. Can maybe even find them cheaper.
even cheaper:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/10pcs-D-SUB-9-Pin-DB9-Female-Solder-Type-Socket-Connector-/330943108138
and
http://www.ebay.com/itm/10pcs-D-SUB-Hood-Cover-for-9-Pin-Plastic-DB9-Brand-New-/140955648667
then get a spool of 9 conductor cable (I think 6 wires are only connected so probably only need 6 conductor cable).

Genesis controller extension cables would be the best probably. they are cheap and plentiful.

I picked up a competition pro for $30 a couple of weeks ago. Its nice, but as sdamon said, it doesn't work with all games. I'm still on the lookout for a cheapish wico.

Well I will take your words for it. Plugs into US power socket and works just fine? There are about 5 of them on amazon so I'll look into snagging one when I get the funds. It's too bad there aren't more inputs. I'd like to plug all my retro consoles in, rather than one at a time. I'm really going to have to re-think my game system rack....
Get a switch. I got this one and it works great. Just have to use a Euro Scart adapter instead of the one it comes with. You most likely would need that anyways.

What is the commercially available equivalent of this device in the United States. Many exist, what do you think is the highest quality? Thanks
Fudoh has checked tons of scalers here and gave his opinions:

The DVDO Edge or iScan VP30 may be worth checking out.

thanks. probably could have done a better paint job, but it will work for now. The guide i followed for the sms said to just do the 7800 mod with a few changes. So I did disconnect all of the resistors. It does work perfectly on the master system though. I dont currently have any 2600 homebrews or a flash cart for it, but I may revisit the wiring later if I want to use it for that.
-
Made myself a 7800 and also an Sega Master System controller out of a couple of NES pads. Not sure if the paint I used is going to hold up, and probably should have researched it a little before painting.

The start/selcet are is filled with Sugru and I got the decals from here (smallest size for each):
-
Probably the only place that would have one would be Best Electronics. They have the name plates for the 5200 joysticks so maybe they would have the track ball ones also. Would have to email and ask as its not listed on their webpage though.

I have bought multiples of certain items on the same quote, but they were things that normally you would have 2 of like controllers and controller extension cables. Other things that you are trying to buy multiples of, he may have a problem with. Also the things that I bought multiples of at 1 time were not "rare" items.

Yes, the jaguar console power supply and jaguar cd power supply are exactly the same. They also have the same specs as the Mega Drive model 1.

I would think the 1080p output from the xrgb-mini would look pretty good on a 4K monitor. The monitor should scale the 1080p to 4k I would think.

Mmmm black sharpie paint....
Haha. Yeah, the paint job isn't that great. He should have went with a matte paint instead of glossy.

Iv got a price, but need to get my own power supply that works with the drive in the UK ? Now I'm really stumped... I assume it's an NTSC drive so it'll be 110, uk are 240...
So anyone have a clue what power supply would work on a NTSC drive in the uk ?
Cheers
A Mega Drive model 1 power supply (or equivalent) is what you need. It runs on a 9v DC (center negative) power supply.
You could also use one of these (the Trio M1 UK):

I am using a DUO M1 for mine, but it looks like they only have the trio for international so it would have an extra plug on it.

You should get a duo-r instead like this one:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEC-PC-Engine-DUO-R-RGB-TG16-model-New-Lens-/201138028083
Cheaper and don't have to worry about the capacitor leaking issue on the turbo duo. I have one of these modded by him and its great.

They may have just put in the same max bid as you, but since you put it in 1st, theirs would not count. it would just increase it to the last amount possible by the other bidder and then give the highest bid to you (i think thats how it works). Was your max bid an even number like $100 or something?

Non working A26 Maxicart from videogame-wiz. Just pay $3 to have it shipped to you in a bubble mailer.I pulled this out of the closet since i recently picked up another 2600. All it got was a black screen. I then pulled out an old xp computer to try to reflash it but the usb disconnects while writing to the cart. It seems to be able to read fine from the flash chip, just not write to it. Maybe someone can get it to work or just wants it for their collection in the state that it is in. -
Can you get the xrgb mini in the us, or import only? Anyone know a domestic seller?
They only sell them in japan. You also have to ship them back to your seller in japan first if you need warranty work. Solaris Japan is one of the places recommended to buy one. Also Yakumo on the assemblergames forum is another good seller.

This makes a good case for companies doing "batteries not included" with their products.

Is this the video you are refering to?
It looks like he replaced the cable so he may actually be using more wires than the original cable. He only shows it for a couple of seconds and cannot see the end of the cable.
I like how he combined the jaguar and jauguar cd into one system (like the sega cdx):
-
I like the scanlines on mine.
Not sure about my other settings though. That stinks you guys cant get the official lead easily. It was actually cheaper for me to buy the official cable rather than any of the unoffiical ones on ebay.

Actually it looks like all of them had leaked with c1 being the worst. Will look at finding some replacements.
