  1. yeah, he claims since he was there he knows what it was better than people that saw pictures. even though it was in a glass case so he couldn't see it.

he also said that it was just a proof of concept to show retailers and developers. so really there was no point of showing it at the toy fair since its going to kickstarter and they are not selling it retailers. there was no point of it being there other than to make some videos showing that they have a "prototype" that was shown in public. since he also said it was the only video game related thing there, cause i think that is not what the toy fair is really for, then no developers were going to be there either (besides Piko I guess who was already on board anyways).

  2. Yeah, we try to shout out Atari Age at least once or twice during those segments so people know we source a bunch of info from you. Not all of it but this is a great place to catch up on fast moving stories and maybe learn even more that we didn't catch. Thanks all!

Yeah, lots of the SNES mini scandal evidence was probably noticed by a ton of people simultaneously as it was so blatantly obvious. :) I still cannot believe there are people saying it wasn't an SNES mini.

  3. Wow, big dog in the house! Honored to see you here, Ian!

I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say that we all appreciate the work that you and Pat have done in covering the RVGS/Chameleon story. I'm afraid I wasn't familiar with the CUPodcast before that, but I've since become a big fan!

We do the discovery and they present it to a wider audience. :) Glad it gets out there to more people that would miss out on the info.

It's not really debuffing anything, but I just thought it would be even more amazing if he was demoing a product where his only original input consisted of adding black electrical tape.

    That would be pretty funny.

the front of that cart shell was his maybe. they also had to remove some plastic from the inside of that jag case to get the snes to be up a little higher too. you can see in my pic, it doesn't line up 100% perfect cause they cut some out of their shell. so a little dremeling and some tape.

  5. no no no, Mike himself in the thread about selling a few Jag shells (as he bought the molds he needed to break even fast) states that he will have to remove the logo, so he will do a few runs with the logo and then "fix" the molds.

I don't know where they are with the "fix" the mold though.

I think they have bigger problem to "fix".

So he could have made some test runs, before the clear, in black. so that is maybe where this black shell came from.

I think we are about running out of stuff to debuff now. They need to release some new footage or something for us.

Looks like a fairly solid back panel to me, with more electrical tape over the holes for the Jaguar ports. We didn't get a very clear photo of the back though, so it's hard to tell for sure. I think the black plastic bag is even more speculative than my spray paint idea ;)

haha. true about the bag. it looks like the back is open to me though. but yeah, the picture is bad and its probably the only one we will ever see of the back.

  7. If he'd manufactured a black shell, there would be no need for tape to cover up the Atari logo and port identifiers - which have been removed from the molds. There also wouldn't be a back on the shell.

I dont think it has the back panel on it though. some were speculating that there was a black plastic bag or something shoved in the back along with the tape. If it had the back on it, the snes mini back panel would not fit out.

Is it possible he ran some black ones before having the atari logo removed from the mold? also, im not sure we know that is why the tape was placed on the front. there could be some other reason, like was mentioned maybe just to hold it together.

    edit:

never mind about the logo part. i think the dental company removed them IIRC now.

  8. he posted a video stamping the logo on the black shell. It appears to be a little higher resolution than the toy fair videos. It doesn't look like it its painted black to me, but cant really tell for sure.

that video was posted a month ago and says "Preparing the prototype system shells for the upcoming board installation." So it looks like it took a month for that electrical tape work.

About the controllers.... so an extension cable might be the thing that is hardwired. That is the only thing that explains how he gets the console under the plastic case and the controller wires through the hole and how he could change a cartridge. Or is that the only explanation. I can't tell a thing by those pictures, but could an entire SNES Jr board with the controller ports fit inside that case? I could not find a picture of the Jr's logic board. iFix it only has a guide for the first SNES. No need to hardwire a thing maybe....

yes, a ton of room. i lined up the cartridge slots of the consoles. not going to take them apart again:

they were not hardwired. unless they are calling "plugged into the connectors" hard wiring.

  10. Are you sure you saw a SNES connector binding the ctrls and the extension cables?

If so then here we have a "proto" that uses third party SNES controllers (down to the connector), SNES AV cable, SNES compatible power brick, SNES cart connectors and runs perfectly SNES carts.

Why would anyone develop anything new using so many SNES parts? All at once? While trying to sell it as "NOT a SNES"?

To the detectives around, can anyone look at the footage and see if he/she can spot the extension cable connections?

[if they were USB though there would hardly be the need for extensions unless the cords were too short .... which is possible]

Needless to say if instead the cord extension is USB at least there's a non SNES part involved (beside the Jag case I mean | :) and tape)

I put on my detective cap one more time

its not definitive though but looks like it possibly

  11. No you could just unplug them and plug them to the extension once the console was inside the case, and the extensions through the clear case.

It was stated that the controllers were hard wired to the board by Mike so I was just making a light joke. :)

I guess the extensions could maybe have been but I think we all know the likelihood of that being the case is pretty much 0%
