  1. Thanks so much for putting so much time and effort into this game! I downloaded the most recent ROM with the intermissions and discovered exactly how badly I suck at PacMan. The first intermission looks great. Couldn't even make it to the second one, let alone the third. But now at least I have a new Atari goal: see all 3 intermissions in Dintar's 2600 PacMan! Lol!
  2. Lol! This reminds me of the time my kids asked me,"What's a record?!" Thanks for making us older guys feel our age! And making me laugh! Great question!!
  3. Picked up a Wico Command Control joystick at the local retro gaming shop today. Impressively responsive, but not nearly as comfortable as my Slik Stik to play long term on something like Ms. Hack. But that's ok. I just picked it up to upgrade from my original 2600 joystick that came with the console and was pretty roached out. Now the wife and I can play 2 player games every once in a while and neither of us will have a joystick whose fire button may or may not work at any given time.
  4. Including hacks and homebrews, which game do you find you can't seem to put down? For me lately, it's Ms. Hack, or as my wife calls it, "Crack-Man", because the game play is so amped up. If you don't have an extremely responsive joystick, you will quickly be kissing all of your extra men goodbye. The cut scenes are really cool, as well. I saw the arrival of Jr. for the first time last night. The stork is just classic! I'd have to say that an extremely close second for me would be the newest 4k version.
  5. Thanks for the useful info, thegoldenband, and wongojack. I had no idea about either the exclamation marks or the game select. Oh the woes of being an Atari newbie (after a few decades!) and playing everything on a Harmony cart without googling the instruction manuals! Now I'll have to start skipping the lower levels to hone my H.E.R.O. miner saving skills!
  6. I've now made it to 15 (once), but died a quick and punishing death shortly thereafter, ending my personal best run of this fantastic game. Must...Play...More!
  7. Even with the small nuances others are pointing out in this thread, I think this version is pretty amazing. The original 4k version is pretty cool, and I've played it quite a bit, but this one blows even that version away, IMHO. It will be even more superior if the cut scenes with music are added at some future date. Great programming effort on this, and thanks to DINTAR 816 for letting everyone check it out!
  8. Super Breakout this evening. Very fun game. The sound effects are pretty cool, as well.
  9. As if "Goodwill" doesn't make entirely too much money as it is. For being a "charitable" organization, how many millions does their CEO make? As you can see, I'm not exactly a fan. Why would they be charging full retail plus 30% for stuff that was DONATED to them?!
  10. Game Over Video Games. You should definitely check it out.
  11. Finally got some paddle controllers and a driving controller from the retro gaming shop in Arlington. That place is RIDICULOUS!! They have a butt ton of stock for everything from Pong to the current systems. Great prices, as well. Now if I could just figure out a way to use my Harmony Cartridge with these controllers without having to plug and unplug a joystick every time I want to change games...
  12. Ms. Hack and the arcade PAC-MAN hack on my Harmony cart.
  13. I'm too sexy for my shirt, too sexy for my shirt. So sexy it hurrrrts... http://bit.ly/1ua3ele
  14. See if you can find any Suncom joysticks, like the Slik Stik or Starfighter. They have crazy short throws for quick response in sticky gaming situations. And if you are willing to spend the cash for one, it's hard to go wrong with a Harmony Cartridge. Then you can actually play hard to find games, or even unreleased ones that never made it beyond the prototype stages of development. Happy hunting in your newfound hobby!
  15. Just like the title asks, how far have you successfully journeyed in this great Activision game? I just made it to level 13, and topped out at 72,085 points. It's amazing how involved some of these levels get as the game progresses.
  16. What is anything really worth? Probably however much the buyer is willing to give you at any particular moment in time...I think everyone is jacking with you because no forum I've ever been a part of, including AA, is an appraisal service. Check eBay to see what these have been selling for, and then arrange the various prices on the wall, using sticky notes. Then blindfold yourself and throw a few darts, Chinese stars, or steak knives at the wall. Take the square root of the sum of all the prices you hit, then multiply by 1.38673, multiply by 3, and then subtract $1.289, and you'll have the current going price of 1/3 of a goat in Zimbabwe. In rupees, of course. Of course, after going through all of these physical and mental gymnastics, you will still have no idea what an Atari 2600 is worth, so if I were you, I would default to my original short answer to your heartfelt question. Anything is worth however much the buyer is willing to give you at any particular moment in time...
  17. Dragonfire. A fun time is guaranteed with this one!
  18. Just discovered Grandma's Revenge last night. Those reindeer are way fun to mow down! Very entertaining homebrew!
  19. Absolutely THE BEST gaming purchase I've made in a VERY long time. I'm impressed with how well this thing is put together. It looks like the cartridge case was originally molded to accommodate the SD slot and the mini USB plug. First class all the way. Oh, and it just happens to play beautifully and seamlessly in my 2600, as well. Certainly a plus! Lol!
  20. Got my Harmony Cart in the mail today, and although I had already downloaded the packets of ROMS available here on AA, I thought I'd give Rom Hunter's V9.0 collection a whirl. Talk about organized! (Thank you for putting so much time and effort into your collection, by the way!) Only problem I ran into is the Stampede ROM freezes up at just over 500 points. The ROM here on AA did the same thing to me, which is why I downloaded the 9.0 list in the first place. Seems both lists may have a bad dump in them? Just thought that was a little strange. Anyone else have this happen with Stampede on their Harmony Cart?
  21. Both my Harmony cart AND my Slik Stik came in today. Gotta say the Slik Stik is quite a bit smaller than I had anticipated, but it works like a charm, and is extremely comfortable to use for an extended period. The Harmony Cart is phenomenal! About 3 minutes after I opened it up, I had my SD card loaded up with games and was playing away! Why didn't you guys warn me I would get absolutely nothing done once I had one of these things?! Lol! If you don't have one, or are unsure about them, I gotta say, "Order one TODAY!!!" You will NOT regret it!
  22. Like the thread title asks, what is "perfect"? I finally lived long enough for the timer to run out on Pitfall! and I accumulated 85660 points before I reached 0:00. I always kind of wondered in the back of my mind whether or not the game would just end when the timer ran out, but now I know, and it's kind of a let down. I was hoping the timer was just to fake people out and make them rush unnecessarily and that you could play indefinitely until you killed your third Harry. Alas, that's not the case! Obviously, I've never read a manual, which probably tells you that will never happen! Lol! And of course, I was running "backwards" to achieve my personal best score this evening!
  23. Still waiting for my Harmony Cart to hit my mailbox. I was hoping it would be in there today, but alas, disappointment! I also finally found a Slik Stik for less than the $20-30 I've been seeing lately on that auction site, so I've got 2 packages winging their way to me. Does that count as acquisition? Lol! Wish I would've seen the thread for two Tac 2 joysticks for a measly $25 earlier than I did, as they were already gone. (No surprise there! That was a steal on those) Don't know how I missed that one...
