  1. I think my son will get a huge kick out of this thing. He's used my NES and I think a little one for him with built in games would be ideal.
  2. Not just the tab. The entire browser window. To quell the shame.
  3. I rather like the Wii Mote for NES emulation. I found it handy that the Wii had some first party controllers in the Mote and Classic Controller Pro that did a good job in emulation. I recently hooked my Wii back up to a monitor in the game room to use the Homebrew Channel. It's a nice no-nonsense setup. I have no clue how it stacks up to the OG Xbox as I never had one.
  4. I thought the D-pad was fine. Size was good and it was overall comfortable to use. Not like first party Nintendo quality or anything but I've used worse. I am admittedly not incredibly demanding on controllers but I consider it head a shoulders above something like the old madcatz controllers for DC or N64 for what that's worth.
  5. http://atariage.com/forums/topic/237477-ipega-9023-telescopic-controller/?fromsearch=1 That's what I posted back then
  6. I'm not sure how sensitive I was to the lag but I did use one of the ipega telescoping controllers for a while and it was pretty cool. I really enjoyed playing emulators on it. My daughter threw it in the toilet when she was just around 1 year old so that's why it's all past tense.
  7. I used the smash bros exploit on the Wii side of the wii u. Pretty sure it's not patchable in the sandboxed vWii but I had similar worries. I certainly wouldn't do anything on the wii u side. With wiis being so cheap it's easy to go that route as it is.
  8. So my wife and I had some time today and really wanted to play a light gun game. We ended up picking up 2 Guncon 2s and Time Crisis 3. I didn't realize it needed the video cable thing and didn't get it with my guns. Luckily I found out I could use 2 y cables and a regular RCA cable through my switch and it worked great. We had a blast after that 10 dollar surprise requirement. That's what I get for being a bit ignorant, though. I see a few other Guncon 2 games for the PS2, any other good ones? I also managed to picked up Paper Mario 1000 Year Door, Smugglers Run Warzone, Lego Star Wars 2, Monsters Inc and PK Out of Shadows for 45 bucks on the way in because a thrift in the mall had a little sale. My kids will probably love the 2 Disney titles.
  9. I've never actually put a physical game in my Vita and it's basically been a portable Final Fantasy system for me. I also keep hoping there will be some fire sale on the memory cards but haven't gotten lucky yet .
  10. I ended up installing it and caught a Charmander in my game room. My son got a kick out of that but it unsurprisingly reminds me of Ingress a lot and I doubt I'll keep on it at all. Super cool idea none-the-less.
  11. I'm a minority here but I really enjoyed it. I need to finish it still but I've had a lot of fun. I never worried about things being necessary or not and just enjoyed the gameplay. I thought there was a bit more problem solving than 64 (which I still own and play) and I thought the non flying parts were fun. Gamepad play is certainly odd and I wouldn't want tons of games using it but I'm the instance I enjoy it. Edit: I had lots of fun with the robot!
  12. There's probably a dozen more games that I really want. Otherwise I'm pretty much done actively collecting. I really have enough, especially with flash cart and emulation augmentation.
  13. If it's a hybrid carts or download makes the most sense. Otherwise it isn't very hybridy. Certainly won't be discs on a portable.
  14. The Wii is already small so a slightly smaller one with all it's gimps isn't even that interesting to me. As noted above there is even a red Wii already. I think at 5 bucks I'd get it with or without the box if it was complete in good shape.
  15. I wish it had the SNES button mapping and was just a bluetooth controller. It's neat but just not versatile enough for me to bother with.
  16. Oh man, Blast Chamber. One of my favorite PSX games for multiplayer. My cousins and I had a blast just on the demo alone. I'm sure it hasn't aged very well but I have great memories.
  17. Honestly I don't see a point to supporting outdated formats where they aren't necessary. I enjoy my disc and cartridge consoles but I see no reason to have one purely to have the format. With things like greenlight and the still living homebrew scene I'm not sure why a box dedicated to this would be enticing as anything but a novelty. The chameleon always struck me as redundant at best.
  18. I just wish the GCN had a larger c stick. Honestly my only complaint. That's my #1 what the heck Nintendo!?
  19. It was used here a lot, mostly to describe home built computers. I've also heard the word used to describe many other things from drug paraphenalia (never got into drugs so not sure if that's common or not) to music setups. Mostly anything where someone cobbled what they used together out of parts.
  20. I would think tape backup is great because you do a backup them they sit in a dark closet in a climate controlled space unless someone hoses something and they are called into action. The library need paper backups might see higher use but still don't touch something like a Disney movie hammered into a cheap deck hundreds of times.
  21. SNES and NES at 50 a pop and genesis at 40 is about what I paid over the last few years and got some games too. At stores and on eBay with little effort on my part. I don't spend much time hunting.
  22. Huh, and 99.7% feedback with 48k stars? I see he has a retro duo at 153. I'd say mistake but then I see another at 1200 in a different color? That's really odd. Maybe just to get hits out of the WTF posts? Is this the new face of search engine optimization? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Super-RetroTRIO-Console-NES-SNES-Genesis-3-in-1-System-Silver-Black-Retro-Trio/111926141721?_trksid=p2047675.c100009.m1982&_trkparms=aid%3D777000%26algo%3DABA.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D36538%26meid%3D2c77fee3e03e44c1af554688d657e7c3%26pid%3D100009%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D1%26mehot%3Dlo%26sd%3D301162883207
  23. I have a very similar approach. I put in MDK2 a while back on Dreamcast and I ran into the some of the harder areas that I recall grinding through as a teenager and getting a thrill out of it but now I'm just like eh, next! I like a challenge but I think I prefer to get it in other areas of my life at this point. I don't mind saying I like my games to be accessible and not require a large investment. Some genres I have a high level of skill in from years of play but otherwise, eh, I don't mind something on the easy side that's not super long. Maybe I'm just not hardcore anymore.
