Rediscovering FF7 - From an Adult Perspective

I doubt it would come up as it seems to be more a reimagining. I really enjoyed my play through a few years back. I experienced a few of the same points as you, though not all. I did also find it much easier to get through than 13 year old me. I noticed more how freakin weird much of the story line is. -
Eerie Sense of Urgency in the Collecting World?
omegadot replied to MotoRacer's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Dreamcast is sort of another world with it lacking the major franchises outside arcades and sonic. I don't doubt all systems will go though rise but with somewhat brittle gdrom drives, easy burning and arcade focus I'll be most curious to watch the DC. -
It's definitely more surprising.

That mod looks sweet. Something like that would make me actually care about the GG again I think. -
http://time.com/4142947/nintendo-fils-aime-interview/ Time has some bullets from it. I thought the first one was funny as the verbiage reminded me of a lot of jokes. """ Nintendo on smartphones isn’t easy money“Unfortunately there’s a simplistic mentality out there, that ‘Make a Mario game for smart devices’ is a recipe for printing money,” says Fils-Aimé when I ask about the mindset that presumes Nintendo on mobile is going to crack open Fort Knox. “And it’s not. It just simply is not. It’s that Kyoto craftsmanship mentality that says whatever we’re going to do, it needs to be a wonderful experience for consumers.” “We know that Mario and his ability to run and jump, to transform based on different items, that’s been optimized for a play-control approach that doesn’t exist for smartphones. And so for us, it’s not simply taking existing games and porting them over to smart devices as the answer. Our answer is to create new compelling experiences that leverage what smart devices do best. The .ca site doesn't seem to have the same deals. The different design is sort of odd. I guess Canadian's prefer top banners vice side menus?

So, just curious....where is the Wii U section?

Last time it came up I think it came down to post counts. -
What's the latest games you've played on your Wii U?

I see you can also fast travel to the barracks from outside NLA. The UI is pretty intimidating to use initially. Some fudginess on input doesn't help. -

I'll have a new house with official family sanctioned fun room. My goal is to expand sound and video support there and decorate. Currently I have a mame kiosk and shelf then some systems in another room. Pretty excited about 2016 in general. Relocating back to Buffalo and getting a nice comfy space. -

You have to change the map view, I googled it to check my own sanity. I was futzing around with the map view when I noticed it so I don't really recall what buttons or tabs I hit. If I had time to work through the loading screens before work I'd go check again. A gamefaqs post described it as "Yes, when you select the map there's a tab at the top that says NLA, click on it, then select which district you want. Afterwards it'll pull up the close map and there will be fast travel spots. You can fast travel directly inside the barracks." - amnizzle777 Which sounds about right for what I did. -

I just clicked on its little box icon and said fast travel. Poof. -

Lack of Piracy Killed the PS Vita
omegadot replied to Gemintronic's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Memory card decision remains top of my WTF list for the Vita. The fact that my hands tend to cover the speaker when in use are up there too. Wonderful system with a redundant execution and a few head scratchers. -
Hm, thought I'd see Amnesia: Dark Descent on there. I also found Fear to be quite atmospheric but mostly in the scenes where you hallucinate or communicate with the little girl.

His gun better get bigger. I don't recall sunglasses in Advent Children (which I enjoyed a lot). If it's too actiony I'm not all that interested at a 60+ price tag depending on how it's delivered. I loved a lot about the aesthetics in FF7, especially the music and the environments but if they hack off the materia and align it with more action-based titles I'm less interested right off the bat.

I think I like the Gamepad so much more than the controller options from the Wii it doesn't even register as a negative. One thing I noticed is offscreen play is alright but the text scales so badlyI have to squint at it. I'm also a general fan of it. I like the width, it reminds of having my hands apart for mouse and keys. The strict use of it has long been a thorn for me, especially with the media apps, though. I remember when my left thumb stick broke and many things became near or actually broken. -

I don't mind the music choice, I think it fits in. Not my typical cup of tea but I don't mind it. I do find the volume in some talking scenes very surprising. There's also odd pauses where the characters just sort of stare between scenes but it combines to be a little charming for me. So far I'm much more drawn in than the the first game. -
Always wanted one of those. Cool repair job.

The Polycade makes me think of sort of 60's era Star Trek minus the beeps and lights. I think it looks neat but no way I'd hang it up anywhere. Also agree, way too shallow on the controls.

Picked up Xenoblade Chronicles X today. Just a bit past the prologue and I dig it so far. Wasn't a huge fan of the character model style in the first one and that continues, the game does look good still. Once I noticed that at least many of the grassy bits around the terrain were all rendered 2d and turned with me it was a little distracting but I think I'll get over it. Everything about it just seems so huge that it's pretty enticing. An hour in the voices are less annoying than the first game by far. Other than that it's about as expected and is quite enjoyable.
