  1. http://www.amazon.com/Replacement-Joystick/dp/B000F7V2GO/ref=pd_sim_63_2?ie=UTF8&refRID=07JVW4HZY20KJFNXZ4P2 Took me a minute, but that is the one I bought. I have two. They are functional but a bit sensitive, as I said earlier. If i had no other option and a lazy stick I'd buy it again. I gather most of them have the same issue. I have been interested in the GCN-like sticks but I have like 5 controllers now with fine sticks so eh.
  2. I seem to remember MDK2 being pretty difficult. I just really recall that you could die during the intro scene while parachuting down. That was an eye opener.
  3. There are some Sony Trinitrons at my local Goodwill that look in the 30" range to me. If I had anywhere to put it and felt like hauling it up to the 4th floor I'd be all over it.
  4. Picked up 2 white Wii motes in perfect shape in their little rubber jackets for 11 bucks today. I wasn't willing to buy them full price just to have extras for the Wii as an emu box but at 11 bucks, yes.
  5. This won't be that helpful but I bought some off amazon that were visually the same as the stock sticks but are quite sensitive. Mario 64 can be somewhat hard to control as I think the stock sticks have a bit of a dead zone or something that replacements tend to lack. It can sometimes be less frustrating to keep an eye out for good used controllers.
  6. I usually don't agree with the Dreamcast being retro because of the heavy focus on online multiplayer. I'm aware that PC and other areas had it for years but it really seemed like the cut over to our PSN / XBL focused world. But it's all subjective.
  7. You mean like when an analogue stick is slightly off and you get slight inputs?
  8. Picked up a gold colored N64 controller from the Goodwill by my office primarily because it's stick is in nearly perfect condition. Tested it at home and was very happy with it. 12 bucks wasn't a great deal, but I think the mediocre stick replacements run like nearly 10 with shipping alone so I was content. I never had a gold one, either. I almost bought a red one at the same place but I didn't really want to spend 24 bucks on a random purchase when I have 3 other functional controllers here and I primarily play alone.
  9. The NES has an impressive amount of good games that I hate 95% of the time.
  10. There seem to be a few demarcation points (from my perspective) NES / SMS / etc and back exploded gaming onto the world. After the NES era it was here to stay. SNES / Genesis / etc seem to have brought with it the colors and clarity to really bring out nice looking JRPGs and platformers. PSX / Saturn / N64 brought out 3d to the TV in full force Dreamcast / Gamecube / PS2 / Xbox brought the transition to online play with Seganet, XboxLive and the PS2 network adapter GCN to a much lesser degree. PS3 etc on are where we are. I was born in 86 so those are all major points to me. I guess the transition to online and heavily connected play is what I associate more with modern times and so I have 3 eras separated at the SNES and the Dreamcast points.
  11. Not here. Mine is the Assassin's Creed bundle I bought a few months back, though.
  12. I'd think you could essentially do that with any setup by just having a 'mame <romname>' set to run on boot after the Frontend starts. I may in fact do that with my setup now that I think about it. I use Wah!cade in Ubuntu and I kick it off with a script, I think.I'll just add another entry for the flavor the day. This may finally be the one feature I want to hack in, though.
  13. I did recently retrieve my Squish Game & Watch on a trip home. Sadly it was dropped years ago and the hinge broke in an unfortunate way. It mostly exists still because it's neat.
  14. Personally, Game Gear. I mean, there are out of the gate failures and just terribly designed devices but for a successful mainstream device device I thought the Game Gear was one of the worst. Mostly due to the screen, battery life and size. I owned one and actually liked a lot of games on it but it was just such a pain to lug around, keep powered, and see that it ended up being a pointless machine with some great games on it.
  15. I loved how Enemy-Territory handled advancement. It was per campaign and that was a good time. From the sound of it I doubt I'll bother.
  16. My thoughts on a few. SNES - Meh, so expensive to get the titles you probably want to play. PS Vita - Just bought one and love it for it's screen but I'm unsure on collecting on it. Sega Saturn - Dunno Sega Dreamcast - I'd get 2 for reliability. Games aren't prohibitive and can easily be burned. Games aged pretty well in my experience. Game Boy - The brick? Ehhh, I'd go for the SP or a DS, but these are great to collect for. There's even a thread now. Nintendo Virtual Boy - It's a novelty with a few good games to me. Atari Lynx - Did you love this or is it another novelty? XBOX ONE - Well... Apple 2gs - dunno, I had one growing up but I I don't have a lot for it If kids are involved in the equation I'd focus on classics that aged well, not interesting titles that you appreciate years later. I've found the Dreamcast nice for this, but that's just my experience.
  17. That's funny, mine was free from a friend that had it in his car trunk for like 4 months and then it moved around with me for the last 8+ years. Played tennis maybe 2 weeks ago and it's still great.
  18. http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2015/07/the-quotable-satoru-iwata-nintendos-late-president-in-his-own-words/ I liked a lot of these quotes.
  19. I'm on the mobile kick in general. I've had each Nintendo handheld as it came out since the GBC so I naturally agree that the DS is great. I tend to rank it over the N64, in part due to the smaller screen being more clear to my eyes.
  20. Yeees. yeeeesssss. Make my machine worthy, Microsoft.
  21. I clearly didn't use my brainpiece when I just went with the 8GB bundled memory card given my love for JRPGs. Bastards are huge for this thing. So far it's a delightful system, though. Good screen, smooth operation. Just played Chrono Trigger to see if it's slow here too (it is) and Cool Boarders 3 (looks great!) while the larger downloads go on. The touch happy interface is whatever, but it works. Sound through the speakers is nice. I like having some of the productivity apps. I'm pretty tied to email etc for work and I like it being there. I have my GBA SP when I just want to go dark.
