Super Smash Bros Brawl Sudden Death Tips?
omegadot replied to P!xel's topic in Modern Console Discussion
There's always the meta-game approach. I used to play with a kid that was much better at me but he had a temper so we'd just yell at him till he'd get mad and mess up. I suppose this being your dad you would have to practice that with some care. -
I think that's a fair statement.

Well, you can care about your keyboard but not care about an aspect of it. I'm a programmer so I type a bit any given day. I don't mind shelling out I just haven't found the need yet. Maybe if I used a few of them my eyes would be opened.

The Official Game Boy Thread
omegadot replied to Skippy B. Coyote's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I just recently bought an SP for the first time. I had a GBA but only ever had a handful of games when I was a kid since you need to buy things and I wasn't able to at that point. I really love this little system. I was compelled to buy it after finding / cleaning up an old fat GB I've had for years and years only to find its screen had a few tracks running down it. They battery life was pretty rough on those old bricks anyway so I wasn't too heart broken. So far I've really just dug into Yoshi's Island (one of my favorite games ever) and the Megaman Zero that came with it and am having a blast. -
I'll definitely grant that your input device is intensely personal to the user. Whatever helps get the job done is always the best tool, after all. I just don't find myself looking at the keyboard much, if at all so it's not a feature of a best anything for me. I do have a habit of knocking my hands together to get the spacing again, I suppose that's similar. I've seen my father use his to control electronics and the type of input he needs looks like it doesn't lend itself easily to touch typing.

Actually the lack of a discernible necro thread policy here is something I rather like. You get situations where someone posts back 10 YEARS after a post and you can see how things change. When most of our talk is about historical things that's a neat feature. It surprised me at first since I was use to fairly strict necro policies. /thread derail

Mmm, sure. First it's a free game and on add-on. In a few months you'll be up all night voting on games to get snow globes and your library will creak under the weight of instant gratification and impulse.

When I did LAN competitions (and thus actually concerned myself with performance, probably too much,so) a lot back in high school and college we all just used regular logitech elite keyboards. They were pretty cheap and had a few buttons for launching things. I never really understood the appeal to a lot of the more complex keyboards out there. Mechanical switches, sure, I get the tactile feedback. It's more the backlights and stuff with bazillion extra buttons I didn't care for. I was never looking at my keyboard when playing. Side buttons on my mouse though, heck yes. Those are within easy reach of my thumb. And to boot I brought one in to work and found out my IDE supports my back buttons when going through finds and stuff! Now I just use some Microsoft half-height because I can't be arsed to pay more for my sporadic PC game sessions. I'd like a mechanical keyboard but I just really need something 108 key type deal.

We all had to have Steam for Counter-Strike early on and really hated it. At this point I really enjoy using the client and friendlist related features, though. The sales are cool but I don't get a ton of PC game time anymore so I try to stay away.

Other than Halo 3/4 and the Gears of War games with friends I missed basically everything on the 360 so I'm looking forward to this.

That makes more sense. That would be an incredible deal.

The store says Free with Gold. Is that just the app?

Yes, I had to resort to just leaving the game on for extended periods of time to get through it most recently. The tension of save points is nice but at this point in my life it's basically game-breaking for me if they are too far apart.

Dreamcast won't save to VMU. Help?
omegadot replied to TaskenLander's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Battery should have nothing to do with it. Mine are / were always dead. I've actually never replaced one. I used a VMU for the quake 3 maze thing at the end of the game and that's it. And that was around when Q3 launched. -
I'd love to see 7 release with fewer or no random battles and a camera that was a bit more forgiving. I wasted a lot of time because I simply could not see the area exits and the big arse red arrows or paths around the levels. I seem to remember the train yard being bad about that. I really really liked the quirky music and sound effects for 7, though. I have a feeling that will be largely chopped for higher fidelity audio, though. Edit: I remember liking Shenmue a lot for about 4 hours then just feeling like it was work. Maybe I'll have to give it another try.

I'm very interested in the streaming. I'm in the market for a new tablet and I'm looking at the versatility of a surface or similar class Win 8.1/10 tablet. If I could steam my more violent XB1 games to that at some point? Hell yeah.

Sigh, where the hell am I supposed to hook up a PS4...

I would admittedly buy this based on brand and studio alone. I'm glad it seems to be shaping up well.
