  1. I grew up on console games but then throughout high school and some college I got into a lot of competitive LAN play for CS and Quake 3 (before Steam torpedoed that community in my area) so I ended up mostly gaming there for years and being general terrible at RTSes and other strategy games between FPS binges and EQ time sinks. Now that I've got kids I tend to play on consoles as it fits my life well. I can grab my girls and relax with a controller or hand it off to my son and let him run around while I go make dinner or whatever. Arguments about interfaces, peripherals, resomolutions, backwards compatibility, etc I tend to grant to PCs but consoles provide me fun that fits my life. I also spend all day at work staring at terminals so it's nice to not relax with a keyboard and monitor these days.
  2. I hate the thing unless it's house of the dead or bowling. Other than that it can go. That hold over the only thing I dislike about my Wii U.
  3. Hah, or like the old railroad tracks blockbuster used.
  4. They bought out so many stores that used to sell classics around me growing up, I wonder if they sat on any of the inventory. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. If I'm willing to stand long enough to play it: Arcade cabinet. Otherwise console. Surprised you'd rather console NBA Jam, though. That's a favorite on my MAME.
  6. I have 2 of the Jakks ones I picked up at the thrift for 3 bucks a pop. For that much it's a great deal, my son things they are pretty neat.
  7. Damn...I just got some awesome games with mine...
  8. I've picked up the recent Nintendo games at our local one here. I literally walk in, ask for the game, the girl (same one every time) behind the counter goes yep and hands it to me. I pay and I'm out in under 3 minutes. Most I've been in years. The one's back in Virginia Beach were very confusing to walk in to and I could never get help. Eventually I found the other smaller shops and just went there.
  9. I try not to be negative but adding Gamestop to any equation has never really worked out in our benefit. That said there is a shop near here with nice staff.
  10. How do you feel about it as a console? I rate it pretty low myself at this point after I think 3 months. I have a lot of cases where things crash to to desktop on launch 2 or 3 times and about twice a week I launch something and NO input works other than the xbox button thing to get back to the desktop. There's a few games I love on it. I really like coop plants v zombies, I like Child of Light a lot (this month's games for gold game), Rayman Legends (was free and I it's one of my favorite games in years!) and a few others, and I love the controller. The system itself feels like it's still about 4/5 done to me.
  11. I had played Halo when it came out on PC years ago and I didn't recall as many random nade deaths or walk out door and die moments as I've run into this run though. I've also raged out a few times.
  12. I think some of you have a near 30 year lead on me. I'll bide my time. Yesssss. Yessssssss.
  13. I voted for a squad from General Chaos. I thought it'd be a cool complement to the pikmen / olimar.
  14. That's much cooler than I thought it'd be.
  15. I haven't noticed a brightness issue, but the display my N64 is on tends to be a bit dark. My only real issue with Mario 64 on the Wii U is that I have hell hitting the triple jump.
  16. I definitely felt like someone that wasn't as irritated by the voices would really just find joy in the game. I'll try the japanese voices. I tend to dislike most voice acting in RPGs. I actually shut it off in Bravely Default about three hours in. I seem to remember that not being an option in this one. My son just relinquished Peggle. Time to check it out. Good call on the Japanese voices. This is much better.
  17. I think around 6 hours, heh. The voice clips irritated me pretty quickly and I just tended not to return to it. But I did really love the sprawling world and battle system a lot. I may just reboot it on the Wii hooked up to the other TV.
  18. I just checked their site before I had posted that and it appeared to be stocked at that price. I still have a lot of the shops from the Virginia Beach area followed so I might have crossed my streams. I keep telling myself to give the game more time but I often lose access to that TV so I tend to play games on the Gamepad (the Wii U has my save...). I have a good opinion of the game so far but it hasn't settled into a classic for me yet. As for location: We ended up settling in Ashburn in one of these gated apartment community clones for now and are still very much getting acquainted with the area. It's by far the nicest area I've lived in before. I haven't heard one gunshot yet.
  19. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lot-of-6-RARE-Nintendo-64-N64-Games-Mario-Kart-Party-Zelda-Goldeneye-Super-Smash-/181703119324?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a4e5991dc Or you can always just call them rare...
  20. So I parsed the codes off this site: http://niwanetwork.org/wiki/index.php/List_of_Nintendo_64_games_by_serial_code Built the URLs and requested them all. Only got these back: Donkey Kong 64: http://m1.nintendo.net/docvc/NUS/EUR/NDOP/NDOP_E.pdf Super Mario 64: http://m1.nintendo.net/docvc/NUS/EUR/NSMP/NSMP_E.pdf http://m1.nintendo.net/docvc/NUS/USA/NSME/NSME_E.pdf I return you to your normal foruming. Now what to do with my day...
  21. https://m1.nintendo.net/docvc/NUS/USA/NSME/NSME_E.pdf So that's a neat aspect of them being online now. Which appears to be the manual game serial code...well I'm sick today...time to start trying them for...fun? http://m1.nintendo.net/docvc/NUS/EUR/NDOP/NDOP_E.pdf Donkey Kongs!
  22. Just moved to the area (looking at your location) about 2 months ago for work and I see estarland has it for like 75 bucks. Pretty sure I've seen it on their facebook a few times with the trade in photos. I got it at around 40 and it's great, I'm not sure it's 75 bucks great.
  23. I find the TV ads to be sort of weird but not in a good way. I'd like to see them doing a bit more media than 'It's Mario! Mario is awesome!' As far as products I love them. My Nintendo gear remains the most stable and easy to access of any of my devices. Right now my main TV has an Xbox One, PS3 and Wii U hooked up and I have the least issues by far with the Wii U.
