I remember being in high school and finding out that the PSX was considered retro by the younger kids. I go with NES and back because I was spawned in the 80s. I don't have fond memories of anything earlier because I wasn't alive.

It's real and has made the rounds with the media.
Not sure what the point of taking preorders now is, except to give GameStop some of your money so far in advance for their benefit, that it might not even still be in their database when the day comes that something concrete actually is announced.
Has happened before with this chain in the US and Canada with some long delayed, but never cancelled games like Mega Man Anniversary Collection for the GBA when folks finally sought a refund after a few years. Nothing was still in the system at GameStop's end, lol.
This happened to my cousin. He pre-ordered Warcraft III when it was initially supposed to launch. He then graduated, moved from home, joined the US Air Force and did all the other stuff in life before it actually came out. When he did buy it at launch I remembered his pre-order and asked him how that went. He had complete forgotten.

I picked up the Xbox One and I had previously just been all about moving my gaming PC to my TV for steambox and skipping the PS4/Xbone but the experience just wasn't great. I still prefer my Wii U with my wife most days but I'm happy with my purchase. Getting used to the sign-ins and user tracking was odd. I think if I did it again I'd just get the Kinect Bundle. I ended up using the TV pass-thru a lot and I sort of regret not getting that part.
On the PS4 v Xbone department: I really dislike the centered sticks. Always have. I really like the Xbox controller designs (other than regular freakin' batteries!!!!)

I get a kick out of this console gen. The Wii U is by far in third but I own like 12 retail games that I love. I own 1 retail xbox one game. The rest were from games with gold and i picked up EA access for a few months because I enjoy playing NFS and BF4 sometimes. I really like the titles I've downloaded it but my Wii U is still far and away a more fun machine for me and I've spent way more on it. I like to see news that they are still doing their thing. Not that I had much doubt.

A couple of SNES games, a rarity anymore (for me at least). Not valuable, but for $0.99 ea, why not.
Pff, Primal Rage is a great deal for .99.

Raiden - Arcade / MAME
Beetle Adventure Racing - N64
Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 - PS2

SNES: So many of the games worth owning. I recently disconnected the A/V from my switch because my emulation collection is just so much more complete and my saves are there. With these games released so often I can't justify the cost just to have the cart. =/

Hah, wasn't even paying shipping.

The original Xbox. I used to play it at a friends house when we were doing long kernel compiles and it was neat but it never enters into my mind otherwise.

So the latest patch did speed up matchmaking for me. Reset my savestate, though... Sigh.

Only reason i tend to link to the material on here is to help generate site traffic for the other sites i support, starting to wonder if it's worth doing it in future instances.I only found the material through your links and I enjoyed it.

Did he not do his chores?!

Wario Land is really the only one I remember playing. Loved it.

Excite Bike for Nintendo is probably my favorite to pick up and play.

I have no sealed items in my 'collection' but I do think they are kinda of a neat snapshot in time. If it's cheap easy or free (emulation) to play the game then I'd leave it sealed.
-
Oh sure it does. AES FDE is done realtime at SATA speeds right on the controller board.
Googled that, I see it does. I'll be damned.
-
..done on cheap slow hardware. HDD/SDD offer FDE at high-speed, you don't even know anything is happening. No excuse.
The HDD / SDD doesn't decrypt itself.

While it's true modern consoles have feature bloat to a degree, the reality is you can still play games just about as fast as ever, particularly if you already have the game (as a digital download) installed on the hard drive. You're not forced to use any of the extra features, but it can certainly be nice that they're there. I for one like the convenience of being able to watch a YouTube video, Netflix, change my TV channel or volume with voice, etc., straight from my console right when the mood strikes, particularly since it doesn't take away from being able to play games quickly.
As for those who say today's games are too cut scene heavy or too involved, etc., again, that's true of a portion of modern games, but certainly not all modern games. There are tons of quicker to play, less involved experiences that bring to mind the best of classic gaming.
I agree for the most part, but I've had random launch failures on the xbox one that I tend to ascribe to all the things it tries to do each time.
As far as the games themselves, we just have loads more options than I ever recall having, at least for recently released titles at any given time. For every MGS4 there's a #IDARB or whatever. And then there's Nintendo chuggling along with their thing.

I bought Kirby for Wii U today. After dinner I let my son open it and we put it in. Minutes later we were greeted by a wonderful clayful Kirby game. It's not all terrible.
Last night, not today... but yes.

I own a B+ and 2. Love the things, but the Pi 2 wins in my opinion as it has a lot better emulation capabilities (N64/PS1 at full speed, some Dreamcast games run at playable to full speed) Raspbian is the prefered OS and I just like to use them for portable emulation machines or to run XMBC and act as a media center.
Nice, I was wondering about the pi 2's emulation ability. I know my pi was a little disappointing outside SNES.

When I was younger I had a blue CCFL in my tower. It was fun to have the blue glow radiate out. To me at least. I really hate blue LEDs that face me and I always electrical tape over them.

I went with the black one, as I'm not a big fan of the design on the MM one. I tend to like just plain consoles. It seemed to me though that Nintendo kinda just rolled out this new revision without much press. I didn't even know there was a new model until a week ago when I looked into getting a 3DS.
I kinda lucked out timing wise this being my first 3DS. I'm glad I waited and didn't get one last year when the price dropped on the XL.
Not only is messages sort of quiet, the reasoning behind the naming scheme is just a mystery to me.

I'm only getting Toad too for the Mario series. I decided to only focus on collecting characters, not poses or special colors (have to draw the line somewhere). I also preordered: Pac-Man, Wario, Lucina, Robin, Ness, and Charizard.
Eventually I'll double up on the rows on the shelves!
Oh gosh, I didn't even realize there would be different poses. I'm with you on that, no way do I collect all versions.

I like indie games a lot cause they remind me of gaming in the 80's on a C64\Atari computer etc.
I was playing Volgarr the Viking quite a bit a few months ago which reminds me a lot of the arcade game Rastan. It was a free Gold download too. I actually backed that game on Kickstarter so I have it on PC as well.
That's looks pretty cool. My wife and I love going through side scroll fighters so if the screens are any indication it's a candidate soon.

Honestly the first time I saw the sun rise in Everquest. It was amazing to me that as a Human race character I was actually limited in play by the day / night transition so I sat by the guards and chatted with players all 'game night' and then we got to the killin'.
Probably not what you are looking for but it really sticks out.
