  1. It's a sad day in Arizona. Thank you Kyle for keeping the BBS going for as long as you did.
  2. I'm thinking that guy is the bastard son of Ernest P Worrel.
  3. I remember the product as well. It looked like a box of caramels and I think most people that bought it trEATed it as such.
  4. I suggest taking the keyboard out and putting it out in a container. Then pour alcohol in the container to just under the bottom of the keys. Then cycle all keys up and down quite a few times. Let it soak for a bit then remove and let the alcohol drain and blow out as best you can. I have repaired many keyboards that were plagued with keyboard "bounce" using this method. The keyboard of course must be one with true switches. The cheap buck a bottle alcohol from the dollar stores work just fine.
  5. I have a big collection of "snake" games. They all are fun to play and have their own little nuances. Your game is the top of the list. You have a gift, please continue to use it and wow us!
  6. Quite a few years ago I found that I could not run Plato disks on my system equipped with a Myarc floppy controller. I found this: Search for 020C0F00 in the files - replace with 020C1000. It was found twice in two seperate files. This worked fine for my Gram Kracker. I also have a version of Plato that runs EA5 but you must have a SuperCart to use it. I made the above modifications to it as well and this is the version I use when I want to play with Playdoh.
  7. FWIW I powered one of my nanopebs off the 5 volt line coming off the speech synthesizer with no ill effects. There's a couple pictures of it somewhere on here.
  8. Owen Have they all gone bad at your current residence? If so, possibly spikes or lousy Ac current?
  9. I was kind of figuring that it was a memory issue - wanted to run it by experts though. I believe this is a first issue IIc - so it's probably got many ram chips, right? Anybody on this forum do IIc repairs? I don't know if my tired old eyes can do these repairs anymore. BTW - Thanks for the help!
  10. I've had this computer for many, many years. Last time I used it (over 20 years ago) it worked fine. I decided to fire it up this morning and got the following screens. Couple of zeros on the screen - occurs every time power is cycled. Did the 2 apple keys CTRL reset and got this. Got this screen with a copy disk I have - No other disk will give this screen - most spin for a moment and then give a string of characters along the bottom. I tried seeing what rom version I have but apparently my n key isn't working so no PRINT. Anyway, I know nothing of these machines - Any Apple help?
  11. I've been looking for a program that was was offered by TEXCOMP in their freeware disks that they offered in damn near every issue of MICROpendium. It was disk number 129 - CASH DRAWER. I think it would be kind of neat to set up a TI system when I hold my next yard sale and be able to keep track of the MCI. Anybody got a copy? Or maybe something similar? Point of Sale? Still looking for PSYBORG by TImagination as well.
  12. Does anyone know of a hardware hack for the CC40 to be able to load/save programs, possibly from tape? I know that it was set up to be able to use the hexbus interface but they are scarcier than hen's teeth. I'd like to play around with my cc40's a bit more if I could save off to some sort of media? I have a 3" quickdisk from a smith corona word processor - would this work somehow?
  13. Yesterday News is composed of 11 PagePro pages. Cover page and pages 1 thru 4 are all 2 page "sides", the back page is a single PagePro page. Once the newsletter is to my liking I then save each "side" of each page as a PagePro PIC, the exception being the backpage. The pages are saved as pics from PagePro, LEFT and RIGHT filenames. I then boot PagePro Composer with the default file set up to load the above LEFT and RIGHT pics saved earlier. I then print from the TI-99/4A to "FileCap" on the pc - RS232.BA=9600.DA=8.CR with handshaking radio button RTS clicked on. Once captured, I then run "prn2pbm" which converts the file to a PBM format. Once converted, The file is loaded into "Irfanview" on the PC. It is an image file. I then print the image using Acrobat distiller, which of course creates a single page PDF file. Once the cover page and pages 1 thru 4 are ran thru this process, I then print the back page directly from PagePro to FileCap to capture the file. Once I have all 6 pages in PDF format, I then boot Adobe Acrobat and build the newsletter and save it. This is where I found FileCap and prn2pbm: http://ericphelps.com/prn2pbm/index.htm
  14. Thanks for the feedback Schmitzi.
  15. I've got HRD's in both of my systems. Love 'em. Instantly reconfigurable with any disk manager.
  16. Well carlsson got me to thinking about maybe older files being the problem, so I took files from a computer running XP and stuck them on the win 98 machine and it worked! I was so happy I darn near soiled myself. A fresh backup was just completed.
  17. Good lord. I wonder which ones might need to be replaced.
  18. Hello all, I am posting to hopefully get some help with why 2 small Visual Basic 5.0 programs are stating "Unexpected Error" when they opened and worked fine before my hard drive crashed. Back story - A few months back I decided I was going to start doing a newsletter again based on stuff for the TI-99/4A. You can see some of my output on the TI-99/4A forum under the post titled Yesterdays News. After printing a few on a dot matrix printer I was searching far and wide for something that could capture output from the TI to the PC and convert to a pdf file. I finally found the answer - filecap and prn2pbm which can be found here: http://ericphelps.com/prn2pbm/index.htm I am running Windows 98se - Yeah, I know it's dead, dead, dead but it worked for me. Anyway, Got the above software working and everything was going great, then my hard drive crashed. Reloaded Windows from a backup and have attempted to run filecap and prn2pbm and now I get Unexpected error. Can anyone point me in the right direction on what and old fart like me might do to get them working again? Or does anyone have any other software that could work? I am capturing via RS232, baud rate 9600, 8,n,1 Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  19. Bump on Psyborg by TImagination - I have the first part, missing part 2 & 3. Just trying to complete my archive of TImagination stuff.
