  1. Do you have a hard drive attached to it?
  2. Someone on here powered their nano with the +5 line inside the console. I wonder if that's safe? If so, I wonder if you could tap +5 off of the speech synthesizer? That would make a nice neat little package with no need of a wall wart.
  3. Speaking of Gennys, I've got to find the time to hook one of mine up again. They both had made the trip to Cecure Electronics back in the day (probably worked on by Tim) and some mods were made but I don't remember what. I'll have to dig them out of their boxes and check em out. I remember they have a sticker on the outside clamshell stating what was done.
  4. I'm pretty certain that Ksarul probably used Fred's DU2K when he checked the dsr's as noted above. I don't think the corcomp diagnostics has that feature. I used dsrscan when I checked my unit and all that showed up was the rs232.
  5. I have found that some disk usage software will not work properly with it or not at all. Rapid copy, Advanced diagnostics and even Myarcs own DMIII. The corcomp diagnostics will test memory but it finds no disk system when asked. Pretty screwy huh? It's still a pretty neat system though.
  6. Yes, I have syquest drives as well, the 135 and the 230. They work good.
  7. Almost all TI stuff was built to military spec in my opinion. Tonka trucks and Buddy L - built to last back in the day.
  8. Attached is a dsk containing TAPETODISK (xb) and TAPEMASTER (ea) The author of TAPETODISK recommends doing a CALL INIT, CALL LOAD(-31888,63,255) , NEW then load the program. I think this is for loading of any larger Extended Basic programs that could be on the tape. I doubt that it's needed to load E/A programs but it just takes a second to do it. TAPETODISK saves each consecutive program on the tape to DSK1 using the format PROGRAM/A, PROGRAM/B,etc. I tested it by loading JUMPY, JUMPZ onto my Myarc 512 configured as DSK1. I then used TAPEMASTER to copy the files to a cassette. I then loaded up TAPETODISK in xb using the CALL INIT routine above and the files saved off to DSK1. Using DSKU file compare, I compared JUMPY to PROGRAM/A - same. I compared JUMPZ to PROGRAM/B - same. Unless TAPETODISK has some issue with a nanoPEB setup, I think this could work for the boy. sssd.dsk
  9. Attached is 4 dsk images of Christmas music that were done by Delores P. Werths and Bruce Harrison. Christmas1,2 & 3 are a selection of Christmas Carols. The 4th disk is The Nutcracker. These might be something new for some TI'ers so hopefully they'll enjoy the talent on these disks. CHRISTMAS-1.DSK CHRISTMAS-2.DSK CHRISTMAS-3.DSK NUTCRACK.DSK
  10. Hey, thanks guys! Sorry I'm so tardy in answering this thread. I'm gonna download when I get near my computer and give em a spin.
  11. Thanks for the help to Marc, Ksarul! Another funky thing - I did a dsrscan of this thing and all that shows is the rs232. No floppy controller at 1100 as expected.
  12. Thanks to an unbelievable effort by Marc Hull My Myarc MPES/50 is a fully functional unit. I purchased this thing years ago from Ebay and it has never worked. I checked some stuff periodically through the years but with my meager skills never had any success getting it working. Shipped to Marc and he fixed it. Marc felt that it probably suffered a lightning strike or some similar bad event. From what he told me it would be easier to state what chips were okay than which ones were toast. The PAL chips weren't hurt, Thank goodness. This gizmo is kinda weird, It will only format a disk to 1280 sectors (DS/DD). This was TI's "standard" as I understand it and I guess at the time Myarc followed suit. Thanks again Marc!!!!!
  13. +1 on the Tigercub. I bought all 3 Nuts & Bolts disks from him along with some of his other software titles. He was a true TI mentor.
  14. This is great! I'll take 2 black when they come available. Many thanks to both of you!
  15. Fixed. Disassembled console. unplugged F18A. Reassembled and tested - still green screen. Disassembled console. unplugged F18A. Plugged in 9918A. Reassembled and tested. Black screen. Shit, my old faithful motherboard has taken a dump. And then my light went on - "Wait a minute dummy, start with the basics" Disassembled console. Tested switching power supply I had put in a few months back. 12v - good, +5 - good, -5 - 3 volts and change. Tried this power supply in another console - same result - black screen. Apparently the F18A does not need -5 to power up and that's what threw me off. Anyway - went back to an old egg cooker power supply and we're back in business.
  16. I have powered down completely and disconnected the console from the PEB with the same results. I cannot understand why selecting F7 from BOOT would create this issue. I was hoping maybe there is a reset on powerup that would clear the F18.
  17. Help! I fired up my main system this morning and everything was fine until I hit F7 while in BOOT. The system locked and I reset. Now I only get the F18A green screen and a loud system honk. Any reset to get my system back up?
  18. I dig cassettes too. Still got quite a few and load one up fairly often.
  19. The rave system had you take the motherboard from the console and house it inside the new box as well. I remember this because a member in the vast group here in Phoenix had one. It seems I was over there fairly often because the thing was a bit flaky. I wish I would have nabbed it from him however.
  20. Wow, I've never seen The Castle game. I wonder if its available anywhere? Cool article on retro gaming Omega.
