It's not a case of me not knowing the controls...the game doesn't boot at all.

Does anyone have a copy of Gyromite they can test, I just got a used copy and it outright won't work....only NES game that isn't working.

Yeah I planed on practicing somehow before hand...maybe make something else. I do want Virtua Racing to work as I own a copy of it so want to do that mod at least. I have to agree about the NES stuff being darker, Super Mario Bros looks super dark as did 2, didn't notice it as much on 3. it's also slightly too blurry for my liking but that may be due to me not playing in 4:3 when I originally tested it all.

Thanks for the heads up on the list of games that are best to try the APU issue out with. I recently purchased one but only have access to a small number of games (due to my retro collection currently being in storage in another country!) one of which is Super Mario Bros 3. I noticed you were saying on here (or maybe it was Digital Press) about how easy a few of the mods were to make. Now how easy are they for a novice? I routinely sucked at electronics at high school and felt like a fried many a resistor. Now that was 15 years ago...so should I have a crack at doing it or print off your pics and find help from somewhere! Part of my reasoning for getting this over a the Retron 5 aside from the current stock/ebay pricing inflation issue was the more hobbyist nature, so I guess with that angle I should be attempting the soldering on my own. My other issue is no CRT as of yet. Up in Canada and like has been posted in some places just don't stock them my two local thrift stores have stopped taking them and the cash converters near by has as well. I also have the issue of space in our appartment so it's gonna be a case of sitting it out and waiting for the right one....My question is with no S Video option are there "better" composite cables I could get, is it worth getting something like this: http://www.amazon.ca/Mini-White-CVBS-Composite-Converter/dp/B00AXEVM8C/ref=pd_sim_sbs_ce_3?ie=UTF8&refRID=08E3T9E9EVV2FW32VYKA Or is simply waiting it out and and remembering to notch my tv into 4:3 mode through standard AV cables (actually using a spare set that are slightly longer than those in the retrobit trio box) the way forward?
