  1. I know, I don't get it. Maybe someone else can shed some light at some point on why it doesn't work.
  2. I've tried building this but not had any luck - the monitor still doesn't detect any input. I'm guessing it isn't compatible after all, which is a shame. Thanks for the suggestions though.
  3. Great, thanks. Is the 7805 in the diagram on the list of components or is that something extra? Thanks for all your help!
  4. In particular the 74HC04 one, as I have just found a spare one of those at home!
  5. Thanks for this. I'm just gathering the bits. Does it need to be that specific IC? Would any of these be OK? • 74HCT08N HCT CMOS Logic • 74HCT132N HCT CMOS Logic • 74HCT14N HCT CMOS Logic • 74HCT00N HCT CMOS Logic • 74HCT74N HCT CMOS Logic • 74HCT193N HCT CMOS Logic • 74HCT541N HCT CMOS Logic • 74HCT04N HCT CMOS Logic • 74HCT393N HCT CMOS Logic • 74HCT191N HCT CMOS Logic • 74HCT138N HCT CMOS Logic • 74HCT02N HCT CMOS Logic http://www.maplin.co.uk/search?productsPerPage=24&text=HCT
  6. Thanks - I've now tried both of these. The only one that gets any response at all is the final one, where the monitor is obviously detecting some sort of input, but the screen stays black. The other two options don't even get the monitor detecting any sort of input. Any other suggestions before I give up? It is frustrating as the monitor manual indicates it composite sync input is OK, but that isn't working. And the manual also suggests that the monitor shouldn't work with an Atari ST at 15khz, but it does!
  7. I only know of the Best Electronics one. I got quoted these prices for this cable delivered to the UK: U$D 102.40 for US Priority Mail shipping to the UK (No Tracking, Insured, typical delivery to the UK 7 to 11+ days) or U$D 73.55 for US 1st Class Mail shipping to the UK (No Tracking, No Insurance, typical delivery to the UK 15 to 25+ days) This is why I chose to make one for under £15!
  8. No, I'm afraid that one will only display high res. Your options are to buy one from Best Electronics - they are expensive though, especially if posting to outside the US: http://www.best-electronics-ca.com/monadapt.htm Or you can follow instructions online and make a lead yourself. This is cheaper and not too hard to do if you can use a soldering iron.
  9. I've had my first go at this but the monitor is saying 'no input' on the VGA socket. I've attached the spec for the monitor. Do you think this means it should work? (Note, ignore the 30Khz bottom limit - 15khz definitely works from an Atari ST.) I'll check all the connections again. If this fails, are there any alternative connections I could try with h-sync etc?
  10. Thanks both! I've checked the manual and this monitor does appear to support composite sync, so I will give this a go and report back once I have made the lead.
  11. I've recently got my Atari ST running on a NEC MultiSync LCD 1970VX monitor, which supports the ST's low resolution output at 15.5khz. What khz does the Jaguar output at? Will it work with this monitor using VGA? If I wanted to connect it to this monitor using VGA, what are the pin connections? Any help appreciated. Because it is multisync, you don't need a converter box for the ST and I'm hoping the Jaguar is the same!
  12. Also, an update on medium res. If you make the horizontal size ('H. SIZE' in the menu) wider then medium res is improved.
  13. A related question. Anyone know if the NEC 1970 NX will work as well with the Atari Jaguar? I'm not sure of the Jaguar's output frequency.
  14. I think ST mono works on almost any VGA monitor. You'll need a multisync that supports lower frequencies for low res to work though. Worth a try though - the more monitors that do support ST low that we can list here, the better!
  15. Auto-adjust sorted the high res bars, thank you! I've also tweaked some of the settings and improved medium res a bit, but it is still a bit iffy. I'm still really pleased with it overall though.
  16. I'd agree with this. I picked up an NEC MultiSync 1970NX LCD 19" monitor off eBay and have made this myltisync cable: http://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=25496#p238525 Low res looks great and has totally transformed my ST gaming. It really does look impressive. However I can confirm that medium res is a bit iffy. Is there anything that can be done to improve it? It isn't a showstopper as I don't use medium res for much and have another SCART LCD I can use, but thought I'd ask. Also high res works pretty well but I get these vertical lines on the screen if I'm using, say, a repeating background on the desktop. Is there anything I can do to remove them? Obviously I can change the desktop pattern/colour but I'm sure the problem will affect other non-configurable panels in other applications. Photos attached of medium and high res.
  17. Thanks for posting! I always enjoy reading the story of someone rediscovering their old ST, which is something I did a few months ago and haven't looked back.
  18. Hi, I think it was this one that worked: http://www.retrogamingcables.co.uk/atari-st-rgb-av-scart-cable-tv-lead.html (They're available on eBay too, I think.) I had a different problem though. I think the cable I was using was an old one designed just for monitors, not this RGB one. I didn't have the flickering screen, but a black one.
  19. Has anyone ever found a version of It Came From the Desert for the ST? Would love to run it from my Ultrasatan.
  20. Does anyone know anywhere in the UK that supplies the equivalent to the Best Electronics multisync cable? http://www.best-electronics-ca.com/monadapt.htm
  21. Can anyone help supply me with image/s for the Replay Stereo software? I did find what I though was a copy via here http://ftp.atarilegend.com/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=10132&start=375 but when I try to extract the MSA file, the files within seem corrupt. Thanks for any help.
  22. Thanks for the advice. That software looks good. How easy is it to use? I'm not an expert on hard disks, partitions etc (hence why I used the per-configured downloadable images!)
  23. It's a 4MB STE with TOS 1.62. Lotharek's card is 8GB and has the ICD driver. The TOS/DOS one is a 2GB card with (I think) a 1GB image. Photos of boot screen attached for both. Yes I was using Desktop Options > Install Disk Drive. And you're right, it was just overlapping. Cheers!
  24. Hi, I'm a new Ultrasatan owner and am loving it so far. I had two questions. 1) I have a TOS/DOS-formatted card that I'm using to transfer stuff from a PC. I also have Lotharek's standard-image ICD card, which I'm using as my main card. Can I use the two SD drives in the Ultrasatan to view both cards at the same time so I can quickly copy between them? I've tried booting with both cards in but can never see the card in drive 2. 2) I can't see my floppy drive B if Ultrasatan is running. If I try to install it via the menu, it takes the place of Ultrasatan partition C. Are you able to use floppy drive B with Ultrasatan? Thanks for any advice anyone can give.
