Which Atari 5200 games means the most to you, and why (these)?
onemoretime replied to Giles N's topic in Atari 5200
Super Breakout I guess. I don t really know why, because the 2600 version is obviously superior. I think maybe it was the novelty of finding a game that the cx-52 actually worked well with. -
It s a TCL 55r615. Reckon that makes it a 55" then.

I don t know what kind of market light gun games would have anymore. Do they not have to be played on a crt to work?
-
Wonder how many of these where attempted to be used on Activision carts?
-
Ordered monoprice cables. Looks to be good stuff.

It s a groovy bit of home cooked hardware, or would it be software? The best way that I know to describe it is like a flashcart that holds your backup set of games and homebrews.

Lol. Great hearing from you bud. I ll check it out, but at the moment I m scrambling to try to get my old systems easier to setup to display on my new TV. When I posted this I didn t realize that I couldn t hookup to my new TV. The War Department has a grandkid that s autistic, and loves to play simple games with her when he comes over, but........ I have to be home to hook all of the jazz up. So, I m finishing my built-in, and getting cables, and a Retrotink and so on. My hope is to have it all done and have an Atarimax by next month when he comes to visit. I m trying to come up with a way to fasten the console down, and maybe have an easy break away connection on the power and composite cables for when he s running around here. I don t mind too badly when one of my consoles gets yanked off of a table by the cable and torn up, but I think a couple of simple mods might cure it.
-
I power modded mine, but if I where doing this, I think I would want it to fit inside the trunk of the console easier. There s that huge area that s almost impossible to put controllers in.

Thank you for your help.

Hmmm. Maybe I ll buy two sets and try it both ways. My setup has built in wall shelves for my games, and drawers that pull out for my consoles. Then I flip a light switch to turn on my consoles. I was hoping to mount the retrotink on the wall, and keep it simple to pull the console and cables out. But, if the retrotink doesnt like it, I ll figure something else out. Maybe it would be better to have my consoles on a trolly that slides into the wall, and I could just roll the whole rig out to my couch. Actually, I might even kinda dig that idear.

Was considering these https://www.ebay.com/itm/Shielding-3RCA-Male-to-3RCA-Male-Composite-RG59-Cable-Fr-Home-Theater-AV-DVD-TV/283339684822?var=584268496901

Since I m buying not so fun stuff, one last question.... Does anyone have a suggestion for a quality, but not Earth shattering expensive shielded set of composite cables? They ll have to be close to 20' to get from where I ll have the console when playing to the Retrotink I just purchased.

Thank all for the help, and especially you for the heads up on the adapter. I never even know there was a mini hdmi.
-
Ok, just bought one. Was hoping for something fun like an Atarimax, but it doesn t do much good if I cant play the games. lol

Looks to be that the check states that it s for registering a VCS.
-
I left a message with the U.S. distributor, which is Castlemania. I ll report what I find...
-
Hmmm. It says it s in stock, but tells you to check the distributor. The U.S. distributor link says it s a preorder.

After researching here and elsewhere most of the night, I m more confused than ever. I don t think I need a really expensive one like the Framemeister, as most that play here wouldn t know a slight color variation anyhow. I m more worried about lag and blur. I read some good stuff about this one https://www.amazon.com/Tensun-Composite-Converter-Upscaler-Nintendo/dp/B019T0WFA4/ref=pd_cp_23_4?pd_rd_w=weBIl&pf_rd_p=ef4dc990-a9ca-4945-ae0b-f8d549198ed6&pf_rd_r=Q98D7ZMQ7P27PNN4MRRZ&pd_rd_r=ef429ef3-5d21-40db-b44a-e95029be1e9d&pd_rd_wg=Bg9MB&pd_rd_i=B019T0WFA4&psc=1&refRID=Q98D7ZMQ7P27PNN4MRRZ

Was getting ready to buy a Atarimax tonight, and got my modded 5200 out to make certain that it still worked just to find out that I can't hook it up to my new 60" Tv. I ran it for years off of composite on my old 60", but the new one just has HDMI. I ve searched the forums, but can t find any posts made lately on a converter that wasn t a kit. I plan on running three different consoles that I already have composite mods on, and what I have read talks about frame rate and speed this and latency that. Are there any simple recommendations?

Howdy again. I m posting this here because I don t know anything about systems that aren t Atari. The War Department said the other day that she wanted to play some snes or maybe nes games, and possible Genesis stuff. My question is, keeping in mind that she s hard on equipment (including mine), would I be better off with one of these Retron 5 things (which I almost bought today), or original hardware and do the video mods like I did with my 2600 and 5200?

Went to Traders Village in Houston today to a shop called "Hey Bro Video Games". They had a few (eh, probably 20?) loose 2600 carts, and zero 5200 stuff. Dropping into "Replay Games" afterward. He had some 2600 stuff, and like 5 or 6 5200 carts. Guy also had Retrons in stock, Intellivisions, Odyssey II, and a lot more in boxes for sale. Super cool guy and had a little of everything in what is a pretty small store. Had it left me grocery money, a Retron 5 would have come home with me.

Nothing in particular. I ve been watching these for a very long time. Every now and again it s kinda the same reports... Timing issues with certain chipsets, and sd cards that won t work with it. I guess my question is, is it fiddly? I don t mind spending that kind of scratch on something if I can set it up one time and then leave it alone. What I m not interested in is another never ending project, as I have plenty of those. lol

Hmm. I quit seeing Atari stuff at yardsales and even flea markets close to 15 years ago it seems. Of course, I live on the Gulf coast, and stuff has the tendency to get flooded and ruined.

Very much considering one of these, but have read where folk had issues getting them going. Is that in the minority?
