  1. Me too! It has kind of an anti-climatic ending that I just watched. I would have been pissed back in the day had I beat it. lol
  2. I m not certain how you pulled that rabbit out of a hat when I gave a completely bogus description, but yeppers, thats it. Now I can watch a walkthrough and die happy. lol
  3. Folks, what makes it worse is I can t remember the platform. It had to be either 2600,7800, or NES. It looked kinda like castle quest, but it seems like in the opening of the game you had to go right forever, then down. Somewhere in the game it had a really neat graphic of a sword surrounded by a brick (I think) wall. I think the graphics where too good to be 2600, but they where not great other than a few screens. It all took place in a castle, at least as far as I got it did. It seems like there might have been a graphic with a sleeping dragon or something. There may have been a section of the game where you where like on ladders surrounded by fire. It was the type of game that you could go from screen to screen like Zelda. I don t remember any text in the game, nor do I remember ever a spot where your character interacted with another character.
  4. Hmmm. I ve been hesitant to install mine as of yet... My case is kinda scratched up even after sanding and buffing, and I had to paint the rear door. I m thinking I want to save it for a nicer case.
  5. Umm, it was last year I believe. I still haven t installed it yet. lol
  6. I guess Stella is the only easy to use plug and play emulator for 2600 that I ve ever tried. I fooled with Mame and Mess years ago and got them to work after much tribulation, but again, I m not really a software type guy. I ve still yet to find a dedicated 5200 emulator that was simple to setup for windows.
  7. Hmmmm. You know, the idear of preserving the system for posterity never really occurred to me, even realizing that the hardware has a limited shelf life. So whats the semi-permanent solution for this? I m not trying to be a wisenheimerhere, but I m somewhat curious if the software could be preserved on vinyl. Might make for an interesting supercharger conversion.
  8. Always liked Battlezone, but never understood why they felt that they need to put that space alien stuff in there.
  9. I literally know nothing of programming, other than sleeping at a Holiday Inn the other night, but....maybe someone that doesn t know anything about it might give more of a bit of insight to what some of the average users want? Just my opinion, which has no tangible value...... I don t much care what kinds of doodads you stuff in the cartridge, as long as when I plug it into my Atari it works without me troubleshooting it and failing miserably. I seem to remember how great I thought Solaris and Pitfall 2 was the first time I saw them. I understand the point made where someone was stating that additional onboard game processing was kinda cheating, but if it works it don t much matter to me. Case in point, I realize that for the most part that the 2600 to 5200 cart adapter is basically most of a 2600 in a different case, but I don t care. When I use the adapter, I call it an adapter, and don t think of it as an add on computer. I suppose the sticky issue I "think" some folk are upset about is the possible snowball effect of new consoles that are based on Atari backwards compatibility having new software designed for that won t work on originals, thus kinda taking something from the original. I guess my thought process is the same as I thought about the 7800 when I first saw it. It was a "new" console with better graphics with the capability that would play my old games as well. I didn t think of it as the 2600 killer, but as the next step. I don t (again. "think"), that there will be enough new consoles produced to absolutely kill the 2600 homebrew program. But again, what the hell do I know anyhow?
  10. Umm, Best has them listed as out of stock, but.........he found one for me when I asked for one. Rather expensive if I remember correctly
  11. It was a quite well done and enjoyable video, and I liked the harmless rated E for everyone humor. I had a heck of a time hearing it on my computer, but its probably my hardware. Your voice is quite pleasant, and not a shock jock type, unlike other reviewers. If I had any suggestions at all, I believe a separation of the review to the epilogue with a several second viewing of gameplay would tie it all in nicely, but that s just my opinion. Overall, great job!
  12. I would like to see a patch big enough to cover the back of a jacket, depicting all of the individual achievements, providing you are a full patch set winner.
  13. Ummm, yes, there s plenty online. Having stated that, I believe you won t find a "goodset" in the forums here. There s kinda a warning about posting those sort of things on here. But, you can find homebrews and hacks of here pretty often. Cost wise, its hard to beat.
  14. Isn t it so odd that some of the carts came with the artwork rightside up when installed into the console, and some are ass-backwards? It makes it quite difficult when sorting carts for quick viewing.
  15. I ve noticed extremely high shipping costs on some of the shop goodwill auctions, so tend not to deal with their online service. Also, when i help folks, it tends to be a grass roots type deal where I can look them in the eyes and know that they need the help. Having stated that, I ve helped a few folk on here, and had a few help me after my house fire. But, I didn't get nor give help by whining ( not that you re doing that. You simply asked to pay for a fair deal for fair money). As far as great deals, I ve modded all of mine, and the deals that Yurkie and others do (if he s still doing them), seem to be more a labor of love than a money making scheme. If you re the type of feller that gets bored easily, by all means, buy a jr and get it out of your system. If you re a guy that likes to piddle with electronics (such as me), take a chance on an ebay unit to be repaired. You ll have more time and materials in it than it ll ever be worth, but learning on something relatively inexpensive has its own value to, doesn t it? If you re the collector type, god bless, because most likely in the next ten years you ll never get your return. Had I to do it over again, I believe I would buy a colecovision with the Atari adapter and be done with it, and maybe a 5200, because everyone needs to experience a really good game being played with really bad controllers. lol
  16. Well. maybe a 6 digit scoreboard.
  17. As much as I enjoy my 5200, you would be hard pressed to convince me that the 2600 version needs improvement. It's a simple little game, that is fairly difficult to get good at.
  18. There s several good composite conversions on the forums here that you could do. Since its a 2 port with external power jack, you could go the el cheapo cable convertor jack into the back of a vcr input providing you don t want to convert it.
  19. As far as original games go, Solaris required a custom chip I think. Play value would be for me Pitfall II. As far as beauty goes, I m still keen on Fishing Derby.
  20. My washer, dryer, freezer, refrigerator, ice machine, ceiling fan, kitchenaid mixer, microwave,lp heater, all 4 window units, grandfather clock, table saw, wood lathe, the cedar on my walls, most of the paint in my house, my welder, dresser and end table, most of the lighting in my house,my lawnmower, and countless other things came from the city dump and where repaired by me.
  21. Never even heard of an oversized ball for a coin op table, but it makes sense. My coin op Valley (ancient) HAS to use a regular sized ball with a metal cage inside it. It has a magnet on the table that draws it over to the ball return. It never even occurred that coin op used different types. I had thought at the time that when I got a cue that wouldn t work that it was from a home table. Last time I took it apart I removed a 45 slug from the side of it, and found paperwork where Sherwood had ordered it new for Gilleys.
  22. Don t know what you would call dragster. If you sit it out, the game ends at 99.99 seconds, which is close to my best time. lol
