Who owns a 7800 adapter for his 5200 system?
onemoretime replied to gambler172's topic in Atari 5200
I had one of these offered to be a few months ago ( the knockoff ones that a few where made), but with my mods, it wouldn t work in my 5200 anyhow. -
This is a 25-30 dollar item in unknown condition, as far as I m concerned. Kinda like fleabay, if it says item is untested, or condition is unknown, then it s a given that it doesn t work.

Generally, they are less than 100. Having said that, I have no idear what a boxed one would go for.

Pretty heavy hunk of rubber there, if memory serves, stuffed into a kinda special housing. Mind you, I havent had one apart in years now.

They where the bees knees in the day. I traded the labor to fix my neighbors 2600 that he for some reason stuffed a sandwich into , before his folks got home, for his Arcadia supercharger.

When you ve got ten bucks left, and buy a spend it on a fleamarket game instead of eating that day.

What's the rarest game you actually played in the 80s

For me it was the Sega release of 2600 Spy Hunter. -
Groovy.

Anyone ever try using a 2600 adapter in it, with the coleco adapter in it? Shock value for sure. -
Think maybe I ll add a couple of variable resistors to center this thing when I build it. Although it'll be a while. I ve got a lot of rebuilding to do first.

The waters going down bud. I m at my Ma's house in the evening, and working on my place during the day. Thank you for your thoughts.

Will be building the controller soon. Thanks.

I d imagine he probably could. Its more or less just a hunk of angle iron with some hinge pins.

Hmmmm. I ve got an old 5 gallon paint pot (good for 175 psi) that is begging to be converted just for this use after I get my place cleaned up and repaired...

1982 ATARI 5200 color brochure I found (front cover scanned)
onemoretime replied to HDTV1080P's topic in Atari 5200
It s interesting that they chose to show it with what looks to be super short controller cables (or they re tucked under), and a cartridge case seeming to be installed backwards. -
RamrodHare, if you know where replacement diaphragm modules can be purchased, please let me know. Mine where bad before they even got full of water, and I'm certain they will require replacement now.

Only if you have a 5200, with a 2600 adapter. It s the shock value of stacked adapters. lol

The wicos have a rubber grommet made to center the stick that degrades over time. My school of thought is any kind of petroleum based lubricant might degrade it.

Those things take some serious wattage. I would recommend, which I did on mine, a power conversion, and composite video.

Howdy all. Was looking at the 2600 forum, as read where a feller was making greeting carts of customer supplied pictures and Atariage was putting them on actual cartridges. Is there anyone here doing the same thing for the 5200? I burnt a few hours being unsuccessful trying to make the 2600 bin work with my artwork, and never did get it. I would just as soon as pay someone here to do it, if there s a known way to create a bin out of pictures for the 5200.

What Classic 2600 Games Might Work Best in VR?

Custer's Revenge. -
Food for thought.... I ve got several Wico's, and they all have developed the leaning stick syndrome. The rubber grommets that center these guys are getting long in the tooth, and if there s a replacement, I haven't found it. It's a shame, I love the controllers, and have 8 of them or so.

I've taken the journey through the complete series, and paused to play a bit of each game that they were talking about..... Though I'm not in the least a programmer, I received an education on the efforts of the programmers, and a new appreciation of the games I've played since 77. There were some quite funny moments, like mentioning that anything that resembles a bug, (talking about teleporting tanks in combat), is in fact a game feature. I recommend this as a fun history lesson for any new gamer, and a chance to make a connection to the architects of our many hours of enjoyment and keeping out of trouble for old men like myself. The only thing I wish is that Carol Shaw would have been able to speak more. Now, back to winning those pesky Activision patches that have elluded my my whole life.
